Devil Yoshi, as he is known in the legend, is the last Debeso to be born, who appears in Super Mario World! Yoshi no Tamago of the Super Mario Kodansha manga.

Every millennium a magical Debeso Yoshi is born, but due to their initial form, resembling a giant scary dragon, people have erroneously passed down the legend that the demonic Devil Yoshi is born every thousand years to bring chaos and destruction in the whole world. Having read of this, Bowser plans to use his powers to destroy Mario once and for all, causing the last Debeso to intervene and help Mario and his friends to stop him and save his soon-to-be brother. To hatch the Devil Yoshi's egg, Bowser kidnaps Mother Yoshi so that she can warm the egg on Devil Yoshi no Tō. When Mario thwarts his plans, the egg has barely cracked, but by stomping furiously, Bowser completes the hatching and the Devil Yoshi is born. At the same time, Oumu then resurrect the just deceased Yoshi as Star Yoshi. As the giant battle begins, Yoshi throws the giant Star attached to his back against the dragon, causing the actual Devil Yoshi, a young Debeso with a pacifier and a bib, to emerge from the draconian skin. After Oumu explains how the legend got the details wrong, the heroes return to land, leaving Bowser stranded in the ocean.
