Shortly thereafter is a Red Ring Mario may pass through to make eight Red Coins appear nearby, half of which parachute down from up above along with volcanic debris. Just after this is the Checkpoint Flag. After this, there is a ? Switch which, when hit, causes several platforms to appear ahead, allowing Mario to cross over the lava while collecting coins. However, volcanic debris may destroy blocks or damage Mario. The Goal Pole is just ahead.
