World 2-2 is the second level of World 2 in New Super Mario Bros. 2. It is a level high in the sky, littered with gold-colored platforms. This level marks the introduction of Hammer Bros.

Layout[edit]

This aerial level takes place on totem poles that have wing-like structures, acting as platforms throughout the level. Mario starts in between two ? Blocks, the latter containing a Fire Flower. On the far left of the player, they can find a block with a 1-Up Mushroom. This is followed by a Paragoomba and several Brick Blocks, which the latter is a lone Brick Block that can be turned into a Gold Block. Red Koopa Troopas follow. A Gold Ring appears in between two ? Blocks on the ground under a Koopa which allows Mario to earn extra coins with the Koopa. A Hammer Bro can then be found. Yellow platforms which tilts with respect to weight follows, where Mario must be careful or else he could fall. After that is the checkpoint, where another Fire Flower can be found. Another tilting platform can be found above another Hammer Bro. This is followed by a Red Ring. After crossing several gaps, an area with a gold pipe, with a Boomerang Bro can be found to the right of several Brick Blocks, though they contain nothing. On the next platform is another Hammer Bro on Brick Blocks, which one of them contain a 1-Up Mushroom. At this point Mario needs to travel upwards. Going upwards to the first level the player encounters a Boomerang Bro and a Koopa Troopa. To the right of that platform is another platform with a Roulette Coin Block. Going up the next level to the top floor is the game's only Sledge Bro between a Brick Block (which can be turned into a Gold Block) and a ? Block with a Fire Flower. Going right is the last platform with several tiki heads which can help Mario reach the top of the Goal Pole.

Power-ups[edit]

Star Coins[edit]

  • Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin is located above the first Hammer Bro.
  • Star Coin 2: On the platform right after the platform with the Red Ring, Mario can find a gap between the two smaller platforms. Dropping down leads to a yellow Warp Pipe, taking the player to an area with two Boomerang Bros. and the Star Coin, along with several coins.
  • Star Coin 3: In the last part, when Mario encounters the Sledge Bro, he should go towards the left and jump the gap to a smaller platform. He meets a Paragoomba, which Mario has to jump on to reach the Star Coin.
