Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition is an upcoming Mario-themed puzzle game with role-playing elements from the Puzzle & Dragons series, set to be released for the Nintendo 3DS.[1] It will be released in Japan on April 29, 2015. An overseas release was later confirmed[2], and announced during the January 2015 Nintendo Direct to be released with Puzzle & Dragons Z as Puzzle and Dragons Z + Puzzle and Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition, with an American release date of May 2015.[3]

References to other games

  • Super Mario Galaxy: Mario's Bee and Boo form appear in this game as transformations.
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii: The Penguin suit transformation is used by Mario in this game. Several musical pieces that appear also originate from this game.
  • Super Mario Galaxy 2: A remix of Slimy Spring Galaxy's music is used for the World 2 map theme. [12]
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2: The overview of the level selection is similar to the World 1 map.
  • New Super Mario Bros. U: The Koopalings' personalised airships return as the final stage of the worlds. The desert world is also a mix of the desert overworld maps from New Super Mario Bros. 2 and this game.
  • Super Mario 3D World: The cat transformation is used by Mario and Luigi in this game
  • Yoshi's Safari: The Style of Gameplay sort of resembles that of Yoshi's Safari, but instead of using a Super Scope, the player uses Matching Color Orbs to attack and defeat enemies.
