The Mystery Mushroom is a power-up that appears in Super Mario Maker, where they become available for use in the game's level editor if the player scans a certain amiibo. It resembles the sprite of a Super Mushroom from Super Mario Bros. with a question mark printed on its cap. After scanning an amiibo, an 8-bit sprite of the amiibo's character will appear on-screen (unlocking a Mystery Suit of that character[1]), which can then be placed inside a ? Block ready for use. Upon touching one while playing, Mario will transform into the 8-bit sprite himself. It has the same effect as an ordinary Super Mushroom, except it maintains or shrinks Mario down to (depending on Mario's current state) Small Mario's size.
