Daisy stopping at a Candy Shop
- “Head to the nearest Candy Shop and load up on the sweet stuff! What's all the hubbub about Candy?”
- —MC Ballyhoo, Mario Party 8
Candy Shops are stores found throughout the boards of Mario Party 8. These shops are where players can purchase Candies. Provided a player has at least five coins, the player is allowed to enter a Candy Shop. Candy Shops are always run by the local residents of the board, which are Spear Guys in DK's Treetop Temple, Piantas on Goomba's Booty Boardwalk, Red Boos in King Boo's Haunted Hideaway, Shy Guys on Shy Guy's Perplex Express, Koopa Troopas in Koopa's Tycoon Town, and Toadies in Bowser's Warped Orbit.
Inside a Candy Shop, the player is presented with three Candies to choose from. Candies cost between five to 20 coins, and may be sold for one of two prices depending on if the player is in either the top or bottom two places. Candy Shops have a variety of Candy for sale, which depends on which board is being played, as well as if the turn count is over or under halfway through. The Candy Shop will never stock a Candy that the player cannot afford, and the shop will attempt to avoid duplicates. If a player has too few coins for it to fully stock the store, it will default to stocking Twice Candy, even stocking duplicates if necessary.[1] When the game reaches the last turn, the Candy Shops are closed.
List of Candy Shop stocks by board[edit]
For clarity's sake, Candies that appear on the board exclusively via ? Candies are omitted, with the exception of Twice Candy, which can appear due to a failsafe requiring all Candies to be affordable to the player.
