World 2-2 (Chapter 2-2 in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic; titled Don’t Be Discouraged![1] or Cobrat Attacks![2]) is the second level of World 2 in Super Mario Bros. 2.

Layout[edit]

The level starts in a cave. After exiting the cave, the player has to go through the desert while avoiding Cobrats, Beezos, a red Shyguy, a Pokey, and Pansers. There is also a cave where an extra life can be gained. In it, the player can get a Magical Potion by destroying the brick walls with bombs. Every jar in this level has a red Shyguy and a red turtle shell. After climbing down, the player has to dig out soft sand while avoiding red Shyguys, Ninjis, and a green Snifit. At the bottom, there is a door that leads to Red Birdo, who shoots both fireballs and eggs. This is the first time Red Birdo appears. There are also Mushroom Blocks which can be used to hurt her.

World 2-2 is not that different from the level you've just come through. But there are some new dangers, like jars with armies of Cobrats and a deceptive path on Map 3 that leads to a dead end. Just keep moving and be careful of the sparks.[2]
