Hello to all the readers here is Luigi 138... I mean 128 about the idea of writing about every episode of Super Mario Bros Z I prefer to let readers decide If i should do it or not you can vote here anyways this month it will be about a clip of a Fake Game

Link=[[1]]

Super Mario Galaxy DS

when I see the link I just go nuts because everyone want such game really exist and when I see the video I really belived that there would be this game but if you see whit more detail you'll see that the Mario, Luigi and Luma polygons in the begin of the video aren't the ones that you see in Super Mario Galaxy and the the last proof the date ofe the video says 09/12/07 if Nintendo was really working on a Super Mario Galaxy DS for now there would be million of images about it (I mean real ones because fakes are everywhere) anyways the video still is awesome the one who do this must be an extremely good hacker I bet it took many time

Graphics

As I said the one who done this must be a good hacker because the fake graphics are in 3D and I think they are home-made but if note when Mario & Luigi enter on the DS the quality is low (this is of course because on the DS the graphics are low and the one who do it this is trying to make us believe that are DS graphics (nice detail))not only Mario & Luigi appear also Rosalina, Luma, and Dino Piranha

Soundtrack

In the video is only heard a theme from the actual Mario Galaxy this one wasn't very hard that's all what I can say about the soundtrack

Rating

Story 8/10

Animation 10/10

Graphics 10/10

Soundtrack 6/10

All 10.0

well for now that's all folks 'till next month

Mario, non-Mario

by Luigi 128 (talk)

Hi there, 'Shroom readers, this month there will be a fight between two greedy kings.

KING DEDEDE VS KING BOWSER!!!

King Dedede
Bowser

Bowser

Everybody here knows him well; he's a fire-breathing turtle who wants to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom and capture Peach, but our favorite plumber always beats him.

Role in the series

He's the bad guy who tries to beat the hero but always fails; he has been the antagonist in almost all Mario games and is the Final Boss but in some games he takes the role of hero (like in M&L:BIS, SPM and MRPG) but when this happen is 'cause a more powerful enemy is trying to beat Mario and the Bowser has no other option that work in team with Mario in spin-off games; he's a heavy character but is powerful.

Personality

In the very first games he's the classic bad guy who hates the hero, but in more recent games, the hate was transformed in rivalry, and this give Bowser more personality. When Mario beat him he always is seen angry but sometimes he appears more passive (like in SMS).

DDD

Role in the series

In Kirby Dreamland he stole all the food in dreamland and was the antagonist but then in next Kirby games he appeared as a neutral character who in various times helps Kirby to beat a more powerful enemy but he always do this in his own benefice not to do a god action, in Kirby 64 he helped Kirby in some levels

Personality

As I said, first he was an antagonist, but then in the next games he gained another personality being more kind, but still a evil character; and he's in someway an enemy and at the same time a friend to Kirby.

If you wanna know who wins this month click "show"

WINNER<showhide>__HIDER__<hide>

DDD

Dedede Squeak Squad.jpg

He's a more kind character, and is more friendly, and although Bowser always tries different things, Dedede is more simple (only a hammer (OK in brawl he used a Jet-Hammer)), and has more personality.

Score

Mario: 1

Non-Mario:1

So for now we have a tie

Upcoming Games

by P. Trainer (talk)

Hey everybody, P. Trainer here, welcoming you to an all new edition of Upcoming Games! So the first game I’ll talk about, one coming soon to North America, known as Mario and Luigi RPG 3!!! In Japan is

Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story

Main article: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
A screenshot of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, for the Nintendo DS, is the third instalment of the Mario & Luigi series. As Mario & Luigi journey around the Mushroom Kingdom, trying to find a cure for the Blorbs, they find themselves inhaled into Bowser's Body, which feature the return of 2D platforming goodness, while Bowser, a new addition to the game, punches his way through the 3D Mushroom Kingdom. Though essentially, the battle system remains the same, Bowser will occasionally grow to gigantic proportions, fighting equally large bosses, which utilize the touch screen controls of the Nintendo DS.

The game is to be released on September 14th this year, while it is expected to come to Europe this October. It is expected to come to Australia either this year or next.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

Main article: Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
Yoshi, Knuckles, Tails, and Peach from Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.

The sequel to the well-received Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, this game will feature many games shown in the Winter Olympics. Confirmed events are Downhill Skiing, Speed Skating, Bobsledding, Snow Boarding, Ice Hockey, and Ski Jumping, all for the Wii version, and for the DS version, Alpine Skiing, Skeleton, Snowboard Cross, and Bobsledding. It has also been confirmed that Dream Events will return, with courses being ripped out from previous Mario and Sonic games. One such course is Mario Circuit, from Mario Kart Wii. All characters from the previous game will return, while new ones will join them as well. Newcomers include Donkey Kong and Metal Sonic, while it has been speculated that the Sonic Team will be joined by Big the Cat and Silver the Hedgehog.

The Wii version will make great use of both the Wii Remote controls, and the Wii Balance Board. It is also said to have a Festival Mode, where the player starts from the Opening Ceremony, and goes straight to the Closing Ceremony. The DS version features a story mode, in which Bowser and Dr. Eggman team up, scheming to melt all the snow, by capturing Snow Spirits.

It has been confirmed that it will come to North American and European audiences this October. No release dates have yet been given for Japan and Australia.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Main article: New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Early screenshot of Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad and Yellow Toad in World 1-3 of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Note the Red Yoshi.

Recently announced at E3, this side scrolling Mario game, the sequel to New Super Mario Bros., is the first side scrolling Mario game on a home console since Super Mario World. Gameplay features confirmed include a major feature, a multiplayer cooperative mode. 4 characters, Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad, and Blue Toad, jump their way to the end of the level, trying to get a higher score then other players. In this mode, the camera zooms out when the players spread out, much like the Super Smash Bros. series. This mode features many multiplayer features, for example, when you die, you come back in a bubble. Players can either choose to free you, or have you float away. The spin jump reappears from Super Mario World, though, adding to the multiplayer element, you can be picked up by another character, and spin jump together, much like the Mario & Luigi series. Yoshi’s found throughout levels are ride-able, allowing you to trap other characters in eggs, while the game introduces two new power-ups, the Propeller Suit, and the Penguin Suit. Using the Propeller Suit, you can shake the Wii Remote to soar into the sky, while using the Penguin Suit, you can freeze enemies into ice cubes, which you can lift up and throw, or use as a platform. Though not much regarding the story has yet been revealed, Shigeru Miyamoto has hinted the Bowser will kidnap Princess Peach by luring her with cake, brought to her by airships. It has also been confirmed, again by Miyamoto, that the Koopalings will return.

It is to be released in Japan this year, while it is to be released in North America and Europe in the Holiday season of this year. No release has yet been given for Australia.

WarioWare: D.I.Y.

Main article: WarioWare: D.I.Y.
Wario DIY.jpg

Already released to Japanese audiences, WarioWare: D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) is the most recent title in the WarioWare series, and the second for the Nintendo DS. The main Gameplay element is the ability to make your own microgames, hence the title. For graphical editing, tools include pencil tools, a spray can, the fill tool, and an eraser. Using these tools, you can make backgrounds and sprites. There is also a feature which allows you to make music, similar to the music mode of Mario Paint. There is also a feature which allows you to create the page of a comic book. Using Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, you can send and receive homemade microgames, either from other players, or Nintendo. 90 pre-made microgames are available from the start.

It is to be released this year in North America. No confirmation has been given as to if it will be released in Europe or Australia.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Main article: Super Mario Galaxy 2
An early E3 2009 screenshot of Super Mario Galaxy 2.

The sequel to Super Mario Galaxy, and the only time that two 3D Mario games have been released on the same console. Gameplay is similar to Super Mario Galaxy, highlighting the element of Gravity. The Star Spin is confirmed to return, as well as the Bee suit and Launch Stars. One of the main additions to Super Mario Galaxy is the addition of Yoshi, who makes his first appearance in a 3D Mario game since Super Mario Sunshine. Using fruit to change colors, an aesthetic change in Super Mario Sunshine, Yoshi will be able to gain new powers. Turning orange will allow Yoshi to run at Super Speed, which in-turn allows him to run up steep platforms. Turning blue will give Yoshi an ability similar to the Bee suit. While on Yoshi, the Wii Remote cursor acts as Yoshi’s Tongue, which can be used to eat enemies, and swing on special flowers.

E3 2009 screenshot of Mario riding Blimp Yoshi.
Another Gameplay element introduced is a drill item, which will allow you to dig into the earth, or dig to the other side of the planet. There are multiple switches in the game, with varying effects. One switch freezes water, while another slows down time, a mechanic which, according to Shigeru Miyamoto, will be used in a boss fight. 2D stages return, as do purple coin missions. In the latter, Mario is followed by Dark Versions of himself, which do everything he does.
A screenshot from Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Nothing much has been confirmed about the story. However, airships have been seen coming out of a warp, while an ice sculpture of Bowser is seen in a galaxy. Mario is also seen using the drill to fight a Megaleg-like robot which is powered by a star. However, Shigeru Miyamoto has stated he would like to go with as little story as possible for Super Mario Galaxy 2.

It has been confirmed it will be released in 2010 for North American, European, and Japanese audiences. No release date has yet been announced for Australia.

Classic Review

by Yoshi301 (talk)

Welcome to another episode of the Classic review! I'm your host, Yoshi301! ahem... sorry, I've always wanted to say that. Anyways, in my last article I did the classic Donkey Kong Country. Today I'm doing Donkey Kong Country 2! In this game, King K. Rool kidnaps Donkey Kong. King K. Rool wants the banana hoard as a ransom. Diddy Kong (with his girlfriend, Dixie Kong) must get to the top of Crocodile Isle to get back DK.

The Story

This game seems to have a better storyline. Instead of bananas being stolen, Diddy's best friend gets kidnapped.

Gameplay + Graphics

The graphics hadn't improved from the previous game, but didn't get any worse. In this game it is even harder to save. Its hard enough to find somewhere to save, but in this game, you had to pay 2 coins.

Charaters, places, and enemies

This game got rid of Winky and Expresso, replacing them with Rattly and Squitter. All the other ones stayed the same. Candy Kong is not present in this game, because she is replaced with Wrinkly Kong. With that said, there is the exact same amount of animals and Kongs. Instead of DK isle, the game took place on crocodile isle. There are 6 worlds on this island. From a fiery volcano, to a run-down amusement park. The worlds are very interesting. A lot of the enemies have been replaced. Gnaughty the beaver was Neeks the rat. Kritter is now Klomp. Krash is now Klank. Zinger's design is a bit different. There are some new Kremlings also, such as Krook, Kannon, and Kutlass.

Music

Outstanding music in this game. I like it almost as much as the music in the first game. I love "Stickerbush Symphony"

Scoring

  • Story=8/10
  • Gameplay=5/10
  • Graphics=8/10
  • Characters=9/10
  • Enemies=10/10
  • Worlds=9/10
  • Music=9/10
  • Overall=8.2
  • Donkey Kong Country=8.1

Donkey Kong Country 2 is ahead by .1 Now all we have to see is Donkey Kong Country 3. See you next week!

  • Fun fact: Winky bears a resemblance to Flibbets, a species of frogs in Banjo Kazooie's fourth world

Interview

by YosharioYoshi holding Mario's Cap artwork from Super Mario 64 DS.
    • Yoshario - - Hey, do you want an interview for the Shroom?
  • Shroobario - ...srsly? :O
  • Shroobario - YES!
    • Yoshario - - Alright.
    • Yoshario - - How did you find out about the MarioWiki?
  • Shroobario - You see, here in Brazil there's this Official Nintendo Magazine, called Nintendo World, and it's much like Nintendo Power. In one of the issues, they talked a little about this place, the huge Mario encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone.
    • Yoshario - - Did you ever get a welcome and if so, by whom?
  • Shroobario - Yes, I got welcomed by Xzelion, who was Great Gonzo back then.
    • Yoshario - - What do you consider your greatest achievement on the MarioWiki?
  • Shroobario - I would say uploading big part of the Brawl trophies. I broke the most images uploaded in one day record. RAP got sad mad at me, but he already beat me again.
  • Shroobario - 294 images uploaded in one day.
    • Yoshario - - What was your first edit?
  • Shroobario - My first edit was in the Toad article. All I did was get the image that was in the infobox and put it in the gallery. However, if you go to my contribuitions my first edit was in 1 January 2002, editing Uniju's talk page wishing him Happy Birthday. So, technically I have the first edit in the wiki. Gotta love glitches.
    • Yoshario - - Whoa.
    • Yoshario - - Wonder how that happened :P
  • Shroobario - I do too, it was normal for quite some time.
    • Yoshario - - Next question: is this the last question?
  • Shroobario - Man, I hate those. I don't want to get fooled. Uh... yes?
    • Yoshario - - Yes.
    • Yoshario - - Thank you for the interview. :)
  • Shroobario - The pleasure was all my

Fake Music

by Dark boo (talk) Dark boo is FIRED! I, Koopster 64, shall continue unofficial work! Today, Princess Peach and her Pink Pom Poms has made a new cd! Here are the songs on the cd.

1. Trapped in Castle Seven (A song about how it's like to be stuck with Bowser)

2. I Beleive He Can Fly (A paordy of I Beleive I Can Fly. It's about Mario)

3. Possessed in the Head (The experience of being possessed by the Shadow Queen)

4. Paper Princess (Peach's experience during Super Paper Mario)

5. I Am So Hot (A paordy of I Kissed a Girl. It's about a self centered Peach)

PLUS, a free poster of Princess Peach in Mario Kart Wii! It's the only reason why people buys this, as Peach's singing sucks!

The Star Cup is back at various times throughout the day on Toad TV!

Koopster 64 here! I want to make big in the world of Super Mario Wiki, so I'm here to help out. Recently, a new show called Bowser Jr.'s Practical Jokes. The show is about Bowser Jr. pranking people. From Mario to his own father. So far, three episodes has been aired, and they've been smash hits! In fact, they might make a movie...

Super Princess Peach 2: The Pink World

Rating: E for Evil

Description: Princess Peach accidentally covered the world in pink, so she must fix this mistake. However, there is one level, which is unpassable. When this released in Japan, the pinkness is actually subliminal messages by Princess Daisy, so that people could play as her in sports games more than Peach. To prevent a cult, this won't appear anywhere else.

Fake Injuries/Arrests

by Koopster 64 (talk)

Once again, FIRED! Looks like I'm taking over again....

Mario, then starred hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, had injured himself. The reason how is that Bowser got angry that he beat him in the Leaf Cup and ran him over. As a result, Bowser is arrested for not being a good sport. In the meantime, Princess Daisy has been arrested, as she has been using evil brainwashing techniques to brainwash people into rebelling against Princess Peach. Beta Elements

by LuigiZ3r0 Tw0Zerotwo.jpg Late again...

This month, I'll take a look at a very popular game:
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
North American box art for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

There are some pretty odd beta elements in this game:
1. The game was simply going to be called "Paper Mario 2," and feature a logo very similar to the prequel.
2. Every partner from the original Paper Mario were going to return. Most were cut out, however, Lady Bow and Parakarry made minor appearances as NPCs.
3. There were two odd name changes in the beta game: The Tornado Jump was called the "Hurricane Jump," And Red Bones were called "Red Koopa Skeletons."
4. A mini-boss called Dark Atomic Boo was planned to be fought on the 50th floor of the Pit of 100 Trials

Interesting. Here's what I say:
1. Meh, I always thought that taking the name of the first game in the series and adding a single number next to it is extremely boring. But I guess you can say Nintendo started with the basics and got into detail later, hence the later, much more creative name.
2. Hm, what could this mean? Is it saying that each character would make an appearance as an NPC? Or that you would have just them as your partners? Or would they co-exist with the current partners? Well, tell me what you think in the feedback section!
3. In my opinion, those names are just weird. I'd honestly have to say that Tornado Jump fits the move much better, as it is a quick, high damaging attack, and not a slow, attack with prolonged damage. And Red Bones is a type of Dry Bones, so it just makes sense to end it with "Bones" and not "Koopa Skeleton."
4. That certainly would be a challenge. Atomic Boo was definitely not an easy mini-boss, so taking him, powering him up, and placing him in a place where you're already low on HP is a recipe for disaster. That is, for you, of course.

Yes, I rushed on this. It may be summer, but I'm all over the place nowadays. Howver, I'm satisfied with how this turned out. So in the mean time, sit back, enjoy the issue, and keep on writing that feedback! Seeya next time!

Fangamer Reports

by Shy Guy Banana.gif Super Shy GuyShy Guy Banana.gif

Hello. I’m Super Shy Guy, the new Fangamer Reporter. Today will be about the fan game Mario Builder.

Website

Here’s the link of Mario Builder.

http://www.mfgg.net/index.php?act=resdb&param=02&c=2&id=18148

Description

This fan game is not an action game like most Mario fangames, this is a level creator. It is packed with enemies, bricks and blocks, items, and even Toad checkpoints! You are able to create up to 8 different games with up to 12 Worlds each. You can select BGM from a list of them or upload a saved MIDI file to use.

Pros

  • Many kinds of enemies, from Rexes to Frozen Munchers.
  • Includes moving blocks and directions to make them do stuff.
  • Select from many kinds of levels.

Cons

  • You cannot use bosses.
  • Sometimes the publishing of a game goes wrong.
  • It is hard to get in between 2 bricks/blocks with only 1 block space in between.

Ratings

Music: 10/10 What with the ability to upload your own music with the various music already in the game, it is very good.

Creating Levels: 8/10 You really do have very many things to choose from, but sometimes things go a little wrong…

Testing Levels: 9/10 You can’t really say much for stuff like this, but there’s that thing where if there is only 1 space in between two blocks, its really hard to get through. In fact, you just might fall through the block BELOW you!

Playing Levels: 10/10 Once you actually start playing the game, then bugs are eliminated.

Total: 9 ½/10 This game is quite good, and it is fun to make your own stages. What I do to replace bosses is improvise with many enemies or just a really hard level.

Mario Kart: Wheel Tips Corner

by Castle Toad (talk)

Hello, welcome to the Mario Kart Wheel Tips Corner... back to you this month as a special edition due to last month's abscence. So, this time, we're going to take a look at... the diaper characters, the Greedy-fatso's bike, the old-style item, and some Lava courses...

The Characters, the diaper racers, on this special edition, we're taking a deep look at the Babies, starting with:

Baby Mario

Artwork of Baby Mario with his kart from Mario Kart Wii

First appearing behind the Wheel in Mario Kart:Double Dash!!, being a small character, let's take a look at his stats:

Thanks to his light weight his off-road is good, so don't worry about being stuck in grass or sand, even if his top speed is low, his acceleration is great, so you won't be afected so much if you got hit by an item, also to let worries behind, his Chain Chomp will smash, and let you pass over any kind of obstacles, pulling your kart untill he tires... be carefull where the chain breaks, or your race will stay worse. His course is the Baby Park. He reappears in Mario Kart Wii, same as in MK:DD!! he lacks of Top speed, but his acceleration is great, let's see his stats:

  • Size: Small
  • Bonuses:
  • Weight: +3
  • Handling: +2

Red and blue are his Kart's scheme colors, he got a good weight bonus, but be careful, to not mess with the heavy guys, or you'll be bounced away, and so thanks to his Handling bonus it's easier to take sharp turns using bikes or karts.

Baby Luigi

Artwork of Baby Luigi with his kart from Mario Kart Wii

Baby Luigi's debut appearance is on Mario Kart: Double Dash!! sharing stats with his older brother, but having his kart as a unlockable one...

Sharing not only partnership with his older brother, also the Chain Chomp, and the Buggies. And his stats for Mario Kart Wii are like this:

  • Size: Small
  • Bonuses:
  • Speed: +2
  • Weight: +3

He seems to be the owner of Sherbet Land since his ghost is the one there. The two brothers can be light sized, but they can be annoying if they want to, just don't get angry at them or maybe they will cry.

Baby Peach

Artwork of Baby Peach with her kart from Mario Kart Wii

The Mushroom Kingdom ruler loves to race since she was a baby, let's take a look at her stats:

  • Size: Small
  • Bonuses:
  • Speed: +1
  • Weight: +2
  • Acceleration: +1
  • Handling: +1

She seems to be a calm baby, but she can be a good racer, even while lacking of top Speed, she can use her acceleration to her own advantage, just keep an eye on her, and maybe you'll be fine. Her Course is Peach Gardens

Baby Daisy

Artwork of Baby Daisy with her kart from Mario Kart Wii

Baby Daisy's First appearance is on Mario Kart Wii, as an unlockable character, she is good at speed even while being small.. let's see her stats:

  • Size: Small
  • Bonuses:
  • Speed: +2
  • Weight: +2
  • Mini-Turbo: +1
  • How to unlock:
  • To unlock Baby Daisy you must get at least Rank for all 50cc Wii Grand Prix Cups
  • Or compete in 1,950 races

She's got her older self's attitude, she really enjoys hitting and passing over other racers, so she'll be sad if she's not the number one!. She's the Moo Moo Meadows owner.

Now, the vehicles we're seeing today are:

Cucumber

Cucumber

The Cucumber is Yoshi's second kart on Mario Kart DS, it's a dragstyled green kart... cheking the stats:

  • Speed: Average
  • Weight: Low
  • Drift: Low
  • Acceleration: High
  • Handling: High
  • Items: High

If you are searching for a kart that suits a Begginer style, this is your kart, it lacks drift and weight but, the other side like Handling and acceleration, well, it's a good kart for beginners!

Wario Bike

BrawlTrophy431.png

The Wario Bike, is the Heaviest Bike in Mario Kart Wii; it's a Large Bike, that stats list is like this:

  • Advantages:
  • Weight: Very High
  • Acceleration: Very high
  • Handling: High
  • Mini-Turbo: Mid-High
  • Off-Road: Mid-High
  • Disadvantages
  • Speed: Medium
  • Drift: Very Low

This Bike is not so good for you if you want speed, and staying at 1st place so easily, but is great if you search for a bike that keeps a decent speed and accelerates easy... the color schemes varies depending on the character using it:

  • Wario: Yellow with Gray exhaust pipes.
  • Waluigi: Purple with Gray exhaust pipes.
  • Donkey Kong: Dark Brown with Dull Yellow exhaust pipes.
  • Funky Kong: Blue with Yellowish exhaust pipes.
  • King Boo: Black with Gray exhaust pipes.
  • Bowser: Dark Green with Yellow exhaust pipes.
  • Dry Bowser: Gray with Black exhaust pipes.
  • Rosalina: Turqouise with Gray exhaust pipes.

The Item this time, a classic one... present since Mario Bros....

POW Block

Artwork of a POW Block, from Mario Kart Wii.

This Item is used in Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix 2, and it's Waluigi's Special Item, and, if used, it stunnes a random character for about 7 seconds, also it's an item used in Mario Kart Wii, Like Blooper it affects all the opponents in front of the user, it'll make the characters bounce 3 times; the first two are just advertisements, but the 3rd will make you drop your Items and spinn around, losing your actual speed, There's one way to avoid it, even tho you'll loose your items, shake the control in the 3rd bounce and you'll keep your speed just spinning 1 time, also if you are not touching the floor while this 3rd time happens, you'll be not affected by the POW...

Non-Mario Review

by Leirin (talk)

For the month of July, we will be reviewing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the third game in the Zelda series and the first (and only) one to be released on the SNES. You could describe it as an action-adventure RPG. I feel like this game was the precursor to many recurring themes in future Zelda titles, and is therefore one of the best. Enjoy!

Plot

There is a mystical object known as the "Triforce." Whoever obtains the Triforce will have the world recreated in the image of the owner's heart; if a good person touches it, the world will prosper; if a bad person touches it, the world will suffer. The evil king Ganondorf is up to no good again, this time, using the Triforce to create a parallel world to Hyrule known as the Dark World.

One night in Hyrule, a boy named Link wakes up startled by some telepathic messages sent to him from a princess named Zelda, telling him to save her. A wicked sorceror named Agahnim has been kidnapping young maidens from all across Hyrule, in search of Princess Zelda.

Off and on you will warp to the Dark World, a twisted version of Hyrule, using the Mirror. The geology of Hyrule is slightly different in both worlds, and switching back and forth will be required to find new places or talk to new people.

Gameplay

A return to the format of the original Zelda, but expanding upon it a great deal. A Link to the Past is filled with secrets, and the world of Hyrule is bigger than before -- and quite fun to explore. Ramming into trees, cutting bushes, or running into pots will often reward you with helpful items or fairies. Sometimes travel is tedious, however, and it's a chore to go back and forth to different areas (especially when you realize you did something wrong). The combat system is basic and fun but flawed when compared to other entries in the series, which have greatly improved upon it. The dungeons are few, but can be cleared in a good amount of time. ALttP’s length may seem short to modern gamers, but was at the time revolutionary.

Graphics

Intricate and lush, the graphics of ALttP are quite a step up from the NES Zelda's. Forests actually look like forests, with the massive amount of foliage darkening up the scenery. Characters are well drawn, and the colors bring them out. For an early SNES title, ALttP had already mastered the graphical capabilities of the system, and are still some of the best for their time.

Sound

This game didn't just contribute a lot in gameplay and story, but also in sounds. The overworld theme fits just perfectly, sounding triumphant and adventurous. Music also fits various areas or scenes well, such as the music played in the forest, which is full of mystery and suspense. There are plenty of other great tracks, like Kakariko Village and the Dark World themes, all of which have set a standard for Zelda, and have appeared in several other games since.

Replay Value

A Link to the Past is a surprisingly fun game to replay because of its length; not too long, but not short, either, so it should take you a good week to replay (if you already know what you're doing). Believe me, I have replayed this game many, many times and have not gotten bored of it, because it's just so fun to waste time with.

Contribution

This is one of the most contributal Zelda titles that made ground for other popular games like Ocarina of Time and even The Wind Waker, and I think all Zelda fans need to play it at some point.

Final Words

  • Plot - 9.5/10
  • Gameplay - 9.6/10
  • Graphics - 10/10
  • Sound - 9.6/10
  • Replay Value - 10/10
  • Contribution - 9.8/10
  • Overall - 9.2/10

Review Corner

by Luigifreak (talk)

Hello, fellow review-ites! Welcome to uncle Luigifreak’s review bananza! This week we will be reviewing……. Erm………. *Loud pop* Yeah…. That was my Cerebrum.

Cerebrum- n. The largest part of the brain. The Cerebrum is split in two halves, called hemispheres, which contain frontal, parietal, occipital, and temporal lobes.

Nice little science lesson…….. Well, this month I will review the game Yoshi’s Island DS. *gets shot for reviewing a Yoshi game* Yeah… well, just for incidents like this, I always wear a bulletproof vest. As you can see after the incident with my Cerebrum, please give suggestions, or my Cerebellum will probably pop after thinking too hard, and you will have to take your final exam on the brain. Anyway, Yoshi’s Island DS is a very nice game that not many people recognize. I’m not even sure it’s in stores anymore. That’s a shame. Well onto the review.

Story

Once upon a time, pretty pretty storks were carrying ugly ugly babies to the pretty pretty houses, then ugly ugly Toadies and Kamek came and took the ugly ugly babies from the pretty pretty storks. *gets shot again* Okay… okay , just stop shooting! It scares the little review-ites out there. Anyway, the toadies took many babies, including Babi Luigi. However, Baby Mario and Peach fall into the hands of Yoshi and co.!tm Kamek realizes the missing babies, and tries to find/ kidnap them. So, why does Kamek want Weegi? What is he gonna do with the babies? Why do I always ask questions at the end of the story section?

Gameplay

Well, let me just say, this is platforming at it’s best. You have different platforms on which you can jump, several gimmicks, and enemies. Cool, but average, right? Ha-ha. WRONG.

You are playing as Yoshi. If you know much about Yoshi, he can flutter jump for a limited time. He can also eat enemies with his tongue, and get eggs. Eggs can stun enemies, hit switches, move platforms, ect. You have to have a kind of good aim, so that adds a lot in terms of gameplay. You also have a cool ground pound (Badum Hut!) so that’s cool.

For the battle system, you can jump or throw eggs at the baddies. However, if you get hit, you lose the tyke that is traveling with you, and he floats in a bubble. You have a star meter that slowly decreases. If you don’t rescue the infant in time, Toadies will snatch it away. You can get more star points to refill your meter.

As much as Yoshi adds to gameplay, the babis add more. You not only play as babi Mario, but also as Peach, Dk, and others. Each has something to add to gameplay. DK can climb vines and swing, Peach can float on rushes of wind. So, you will have to consider when to use each baby. Often there are multiple paths that only one baby can take. Some paths are harder than others, so you really have to consider what each baby can do. The only downside: You have to go to these stork stops to change babies, and it can get tedious and boring. Otherwise the gameplay is similar to most platformers, albeit with many more aerial levels and platforms.

Diversity of Levels

Let me make this short: There are 8 levels in each world (plus 2 extra ones..) and 5 worlds. 40 levels, and each of them are really different than the last: new enemies, gimmicks, ect. So good.

Diversity of Enemies

Nothing to complain about, many of the same enemies, like shy guys, but somehow, they aren’t boring. Each level introduces a new type or reintroduces a really old one. Shy guys who are in every level, still aren’t boring. Each enemy is pretty much different, so pretty darn good.

Playable characters

Another really brief section: You have 5 party members, each with a different power. So good.

Replayability

On each level, there are 5 flowers, 20 coins, and many stars to collect. To truly beat the game, you have to get all the red coins and flowers, and 30 stars on each level. That wouldn’t be so bad if it wasen’t for the…….

Difficulty

This game is THE HARDEST (besides maybe Lost Levels) Mario platformer. Not saying it’s bad. It is really hard, but not throw your controller against the wall hard. It provides a really good challenge that really makes you want to beat it. It really gets hard when you go for 100% completion, but it’s worth it.

Pros

  • Good gameplay.
  • Good levels
  • Good replayability.
  • Many Characters

Cons

  • Mediocre Story.
  • EVIL STORK STOPS

Overall

  • Gameplay: 9/10
  • Diversity of enemies and levels: 10/10
  • Story: 7/10
  • Playable Characters: 9/10
  • Replayability: 10/10
  • Difficulty: 8/10
  • Overall: 8.8 B+
  • Overall without story: 9.2 A-
  • Overall without difficulty: 9 A-

Really, I can’t say much more. It’s a really good platformer, so if you like those, get this. NOW!!!!!!!!

Director's Notes

by Stooben Rooben (talk)

Another crazy month on the wiki. Things are starting to slow down a little bit, though, so things are starting to get back to normal. ANYWAY, The 'Shroom is gonna be going under a little bit of construction soon, so we'll be adding more sections, revamping other areas, and possibly make The 'Shroom more interactive.

I'd like to thank Tucayo for all of his help this month. I totally forgot that yesterday was July 11th — the due date — but he managed to put all the sections up. Next month, I plan to be more on the ball with things. From The Mushroom Vaults will also be returning.

Thanks for reading, and have a good summer. ;) — Stooben Rooben
