Theres a lot of information here, though a lot of it doesn't really have anything to Mario. Shouldn't we just focus on the appearances of Miis in WarioWare: Smooth Moves and Mario Party 8? -- Sir Grodus
Sorry Paper Jorge, it wasn't anything personal. -- Sir Grodus
Shouldn't we get images from MSC, WarioWare, or MP8? Also, are Mii characters or species? Technically they should be considered species in the Marioverse, but they are also characters to the individual players. Maybe both?Knife (talk) 19:04, 25 August 2007 (EDT)
- Wouldn't Miis just qualify as humans? -- Booster
- don't think so because in My Pokémon Ranch there are Mii-like Pokémon in the game, and in Wii Sports Resort & Wii Fit Plus there are Mii-like Dogs and cats --Usaman2010 15:36, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

I doubt that miis are playable, but if they are, does anyone have proof?

We cant have an FA with those crappy images. They should be re-uploaded for better quality or I will try to unfeature this article :) --

Kart Roster[edit]
Should we put a kart roster section here?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by ChillGuy (talk).
- I don't think that will do something useful here, but Mii Racers has been appearing in the Mario Kart series since Mario Kart Wii. Per all. 36.83.107.192 08:43, 27 August 2014 (EDT)
History section[edit]
Shouldn't there be a history section explaining they were first planned for the NES, then the N64, and then the gamecube before it was put onto the wii. I can easily go find the images if needed.

Favorite color?[edit]
Do Miis really have a favorite color? As their "favorite" color can be chosen by the player, and the Miis are made to personalize yourself, I don't think they really have a favorite color. Just put "the color selected in the Mii Channel" or "the color the player put on their Mii".
No, in other games it is their favorite color. Just use the one that has an official name.

The Mii Pictures on the table?[edit]
Don't the pictures on the table (right at the beginning of the article) look like MiiSearch (found here: http://www.miisearch.com/mii-creator.html) Miis, opposed to Wii/3DS-made ones? The faces don't look right, and the body build for a normal Mii isn't right either. Forgot to sign again, *sigh*. DaShroom (talk · edits) 15:18, 17 August 2012 (EDT)
Nikki the Mii[edit]

Mii Fighters[edit]
Shouldn't we split the three types of Mii Fighters? They are treated as separate characters in game and they have different moves.

First appearance?[edit]
Their first appearance, I think was in Wii Sports, so why are we simply putting in their first MARIO appearance when we don't for anyone else?

Mii pictures unofficial?[edit]
I'm pretty sure the Mii pictures at the top of the article are from an unofficial Flash-based Mii editor. Should the Mii pictures be changed?

Merge Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner to here[edit]
| This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal. |
Merge 7-0
Despite merging many Super Smash Bros. fighters into various lists, we ignored one exception: the three Mii Fighters, including the Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner. In the Super Mario franchise, they aren't worth keeping as their only appearances in Smash games. After all, we don't have an article for the Fighting Mii Team, so I don't understand why these did not get a merge when that proposal got traction. Still, they can easily be mentioned in the Mii article instead. This proposal aims to turn these articles into redirects for the Mii and have them redirect to the Super Smash Bros. series section. I have no possible counterarguments to this.

- Tails777 (talk) Ironically, I also asked myself at some point “Why are these still split?”. And I was the one who created these articles in the first place (well I created them from redirects). That being said, whether they’re merged to Miis or to the Smash 4 fighter list, I’m sure info will end up on both regardless. Per proposal.

Comments[edit]
While we'd probably prefer a merge to List of fighters debuting in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and just a mention on the Mii article, we must ask: why and furthermore how have these gone unmerged for this long. Now that it's been mentioned we can't possibly un-see it.
~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs )

@Camwoodstock I prefer to merge it here, because the Miis are connected to those characters. Once this merge is done, we'd have a section for the Mii Fighters and have it link to the Miis' role in the Smash games. It's a similar case with articles like Hyrule Castle. TheUndescribableGhost (talk) 21:39, March 14, 2024 (EDT)
- @Camwoodstock: Think of it more like the case of characters like Link, Isabelle or Inkling: since Miis have their own article, the Mii article gets a higher priority over the list article. I know you're already supporting, but I just thought that might help for some additional clarification.

Image?[edit]
I don't think that the current infobox image works well. While it is technically the latest artwork for their appearance in a Super Mario game, it is specialized for that game and that game only. Template:Character infobox says: "[I]f the latest artwork is specialized for that game (i.e. the character's wearing sporting gear, driving a kart, etc.), an older image may be retained as the infobox image instead". I believe that the current image shouldn't be used because it isn't the best representation for the Miis, just like how King Boo doesn't use his Luigi's Mansion design, how Wario doesn't use his WarioWare design, or how Princess Peach doesn't use her Mario Kart Aero design in any of their infoboxes, even when those games were the most recent. I believe that this image works better as it is a more accurate demonstration of what Miis generally are. Alternatively, if a Super Mario vibe is to be kept, this image would also work as it is simply Miis wearing Super Mario clothes instead of golfer outfits. Altendo 10:28, September 24, 2025 (EDT)
- I think using New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe art is defeating the point. Now it's game specific in a different kind of way. Maybe if there were more Mario platformers with Miis I could see the pitch, but as is I think if we do that we'll just end up saying we should replace that image later on for being to specialized toward the one era Miis were in most games. I did actually consider the topic and wanted to pitch art made specifically for a Mario game because I think that's better than the other presented option of art from Play Nintendo, a non-Mario source: art from Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (Nintendo 3DS). Specifically File:Mii2M&SR2016OG.png and File:MiiM&SR2016OG.png. (I favor the former because it has bright colors) It has the slight disadvantage of having the characters hold Nintendo 3DSes, but at the same time Miis are system characters anyway so it's not a large divergence to have the art invoke a system with Miis. Salmancer (talk) 11:10, September 24, 2025 (EDT)
- I'd still say that Play Nintendo is a Mario-affiliated source the same way that Super Smash Bros. is. If Super Smash Bros. Ultimate artworks are Mario-esque enough to use as valid images, then I don't see why Play Nintendo artworks cannot be used. Plus, the template didn't particularly say it had to be from a game; "A representative image of the character - ideally, artwork from the most recently released game," showing that while game artwork is preferred, it isn't required; I still prefer promotional artwork that demonstrates a character in their general form more than game artwork that is specialized for said game. I wouldn't call every Smash character design faithful to their main source (Kirby as an example), but even then, the infoboxes do try to represent the character the best they can; for example, Link uses an alternate costume in his infobox image because that is closer to his default and most commonly used form compared to his Breath of the Wild primary costume. If Link has to be shown in his general form, then I don't see why the same cannot be done for Miis, especially since unlike the three initial examples I laid out, in which at least these forms are used in at least several games in their home subfranchises as well as other media (Super Smash Bros. series, Mario Kart Tour, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie), the Mario Golf: Super Rush Mii forms are exclusive to that game and that game only. That said, I do like your suggestion to use the Mario & Sonic artwork as an infobox image; the only downside (aside from the 3DS, which may or may not be specialized) is its low quality; using low-quality images for infoboxes has been discouraged. Altendo 11:55, September 24, 2025 (EDT)
- That's fair. My thinking is that Super Smash Bros. is directly stated to be a crossover and Play Nintendo isn't, but that is a very traditionalist take on the subject. And the low quality of the Mario & Sonic art is a valid problem. I am willing to use Play Nintendo art for this. Salmancer (talk) 12:49, September 24, 2025 (EDT)

Infobox image proposal[edit]
| This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal. |
Use Image 1 9-0-0-0
See the above conversation for more information. The current infobox image isn't representative of who the Miis actually are, and only for one specific game, which is specialized art. I feel that the more appropriate representation of Miis is their traditional look, represented in the Play Nintendo website (shown in Option 1 image below). I know this comes from a website that isn't directly a piece of Mario media, but I've always seen Play Nintendo as a Mario-affiliated website the same way I view Super Smash Bros. as a Mario-affiliated series, and website images can be used as infobox images (I know there isn't another good image for Bowser's Minions, but the same can be said for Miis in general). Alternatively, a collage of Miis wearing Super Mario costumes from New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe can be used, if it does need to come from a Super Mario game, but while it is personalized in favor of Super Mario, it is still personalized. The last official non-personalized image used in an infobox (before it was changed twice) is also shown below.
The former image
I believe that infobox images should best reflect who the character is at their core, not in one specific game or other piece of media. Take Link for example; although his latest artwork in a Super Mario-affiliated title uses his Breath of the Wild design, the infobox image shows an alternate costume that better represents who the character generally is. I think that Miis are no different, and therefore their infobox should properly represent this by taking artwork representing their most common appearance instead of a specialized appearance for one game.

- Altendo (talk) Per proposal.
- The Dab Master (talk) This one probably visually describes Miis the best.
- Salmancer (talk) Ideally, you want a full body image of the character. And this has the advantage of having both male and female Miis, a definite boon for the "avatar" functionality that Miis have. I think both Super Rush and U. Deluxe are too specific to those games to be put in an infobox, with Super Rush having different proportions and clothing styles and U. Deluxe also having different clothing styles. The latter might work if Miis kept appearing in Super Mario games like that, but so far they haven't and even then the artwork only depicts them from the chest up so at best we're waiting for a second go at putting Miis into mainline Mario.
- Camwoodstock (talk) Per Salmancer. This is basically the closest thing to a "platonic ideal" of Miis.
- Rykitu (talk) Per all. When I think of the Miis, this is the first image that comes to mind.
- Martendo (talk) Per all.
- Sorbetti (talk) Per Salmancer.
- Mario (talk) Really unfortunate that the lineup of these Miis lack darker skin tones like the other options.

Mario Kart 7 unlock criteria[edit]
Are we sure the unlocking criteria listed for the Mii in Mario Kart 7 are correct? I was playing Mario Kart 7 just today and managed to unlock Mii by completing all cups in 100cc. I haven't completed any cup in 50cc. It seems like the Mii may require all cups to be beaten in any CC, but there may need to be some additional testing.

- The strategy guide supports you saying that you have to unlock your Mii by placing in third place or higher in the Special Cup and Lightning Cup within the same class. As such, the info needs to be changed. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:04, October 9, 2025 (EDT)
