Hi Cobold! I made a new game on Userpedia and you're in it. (I know you're not a member on Userpedia but I wanted you to know) SJ derp :P

What will it have me doing? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:19, 12 June 2008 (EDT)
You're one of the main characters. You're a hero in it. SJ derp :P
Uh, but what exactly am I doing? Not that I would really care. =P - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:59, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
It's an RPG, and you're one of the heroes. What do most wiki-related RPG heroes do? Fight spammers and trolls. :) SJ derp :P
I wouldn't know what they do. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:09, 13 June 2008 (EDT)

Only for asking, but there will be a sysop promotion soon? ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

That is actually a very good question. I still have to consider someone who would fit for the post. Our most requested candidate, Stooben Rooben, went on indefinite hiatus, so I'm here with rather empty hands. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:58, 13 June 2008 (EDT)

Could I be part of the sysophood? ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png If I cannot be yet, understood.

Who knows? I don't...yet. =P But maybe I will in a few days. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:48, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
Actually, there was quite a few suggestions made by the Sysop staff to promote you, CC. --Blitzwing 14:51, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
Who? Where? When? I guess I'm not up to date about the personal chat here. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:54, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
There is a "Sysop Only" Board on the forum. Coincollector was mentioned quite a few times in there. --Blitzwing 15:08, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
I see. I wouldn't know, I haven't even got an account on the forum, and I'm not planning to get one. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:11, 16 June 2008 (EDT)

I See, although I ain't a member from the forums, so I don't really know what's happening behind the scenes. ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png "I wished for deleting the junk images from the wiki, because the bin is full and the waste is growin'"

Super Mario RPG[edit]

SMRPG was rated for the PAL regions, so can post (EU) TBA and (AU) TBA on the article? SJ derp :P

ZOMGYAYZ?! I NEED ZIS GAME! Would also be good to link a source for the rating. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:29, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
Here's the site I found it on. I'll add it on the article now. SJ derp :P
Ah, the good ol' site with credibility issues. But that's their problem, not ours. We can add this as a valid reference. I still don't get how they are doing this, the original version didn't have European translations, and games which heavily rely on text (e.g. Paper Mario, but not SMB) get localized. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:35, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
I read somewhere that a PAL version was being made, but was never released. SJ derp :P
That would be cool, it would have translations fitting to the time of creation. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:40, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
Well congrats to you. :) I think NOA is just gonna make it show up one day without any word of it (seeing as they are very secretive and the fact that they hate us). I'm checking the Wii Shop Channel every update for that reason. SJ derp :P

Uhhhhhh... I've been lazy, sorry. Haven't played MKWii in a while. ^^; And I just pre-ordered Super Smash Bros. Brawl today. My Bloody Valentine

Since RAP and Porplemontage won't do it, can you PLEASE remove my Sysop powers? I'm so sick of being a Sysop now, it's become so damn annoying. Please demote me. My Bloody Valentine

Never mind, Steve already did it. My Bloody Valentine

No one said I was retiring. I was just resigning. I'm still here, and with Brawl's release next week, I'll be editing a bit more. ;) My Bloody Valentine

Yeah, I see... :[ --

Normal Hammer[edit]

Normal Hammer is redirected to Hammer now, but "Normal Hammer" is still on the item page. Should we keep it there or remove it? SJ derp :P

What item page? Items? I think redirects are allowed there. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:21, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
'K. SJ derp :P

Mario Party article[edit]

On the article stated in the header, there is and image that is cutting into the info box. I've tried fixing it, but have failed every time. Do you know what to do? SJ derp :P

I can't help you because I have blocked any advert images. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:26, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
Or maybe I misunderstood. I tried fixing something with that gallery. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:30, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
Thanks. :) SJ derp :P

Brawl Central[edit]

Yay! Now we're friends on Brawl Central! -Moonshine

Yay. I don't really get the use of friend lists but if you like it, no problem. (I don't get the use of many other things though. :P) - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:44, 30 June 2008 (EDT)

Translating suck with "saugen" in this context is something only Google would do. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:45, 1 July 2008 (EDT)

User:Yoshi Speedstar[edit]

The user in the header is a sockpuppet of a user named User:Blue Koop, who was a sockpuppet of a spammer named User:The Goomba. He did, however, write an apology, but I wanted to know what you think of this. SJ derp :P

They caught my eye earlier but I think there was an explanation back then. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:27, 4 July 2008 (EDT)
Was the explanation "The Goomba is Blue Koop's brother"? SJ derp :P Just wondering.
Something like that, I can hardly remember. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:10, 5 July 2008 (EDT)
Yeah, you might wanna look here then. SJ derp :P

Wait... hold up...[edit]

Am I seeing that you're a Princess Peach enthusiast as well? If so, I'm glad that you're also on the scene to get the truth in terms of Peach (and Daisy too). Biggest aggravation ever thanks to those MK: DD and MK Wii guides. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Enthusiast! 16:06, 9 July 2008 (EDT)

"Enthusiast" would go a little too far. She's alright as a character and I play her in some more recent games. I chose the article to improve, but I didn't really get far and most of the work is done by our community, which is some great work and some really unneeded wars about little words in uninteresting guides. I don't see who can get so much excited about this.
As long as nobody accepts the compromise, I'm carefully watching the article. It's my job to prevent flame and edit wars. I don't think I really contributed much to prevent wars in this case, I'm currently a bit inactive because of Brawl's release - I need to play the games in order to edit articles, after all. ;) - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:13, 9 July 2008 (EDT)

What troll was it when that time a troll occassionally came by and vandalized your talk page? Was the ip matched the same as Max2?F gLarrynana.gif

Yo Cobold, could you see the DK Summit article and see the foreign names section? looks like there's a prolem with this template (or the article has a problem?) ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png I see some problems with the templates, and I don't know how to solve the problem now...

I've seen many templates problems today, they were mentioned on the Main Page talk. If you look at the top of my talk page, the part of pipe also isn't displaying. This seems to be a wiki-related problem, we will have to consult Steve. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 11:27, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

I guess the wiki needs an update by now, don't you think? :P ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png "Steve-o where are thou?"

OK donkey Cobold, Wayoshi fixed the problem :) now, your template is back.

Toadsworth: Uhhm[edit]

Peach's voice actor was Jen Taylor ever since the N64 days. Although many Mario characters have had voice changes in the far past and just recent;y, that does not lead me to agree with saying Peach's va changes often. Regardless, mentioning a characters current va in the opening is no issue. I myself know the Peach page is filled with tons of crappy and overdone information, but I don't see a problem with this sentence. FD09

Sorry, but: Don't talk about something you don't know enough about. Jen Taylor portrayed Peach until the end of the GameCube era.FD09

Why is there a "Toadsworth" in the headline of this section? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:39, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

Just so you know:[edit]

The Troll that recently attacked has the exact same ip as Wayoshi. Deal appropriately with him. Of course, there's a chance that it may be a chat troll impersonating him... But Still. --Blitzwing 13:19, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

Wayoshi's IP changes frequently, but it's still good to know. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:26, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

Speaking of it... Where exactly can I find out about users' IPs? I guess that question is a bit dumb for a sysop, but I have really no idea. Time Questions 13:30, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

Re: Awards Tourneys[edit]

  • Knife said I was wrong about the limits, so I guess it's as many as we can get...I have a feeling not everyone will make, so if we end up with 16 that's great.
  • The MKWii tourney will start at aboutt 2-3p EDT (UTC -5), making it 9-10p for you, still on August 8th. Depending on when we start it may go past 11p. When you get your individual round matchups for Brawl you can talk to your opponent for a good time.

Wa Yoshihead.png TC@Y 18:14, 22 July 2008 (EDT)

Proposal for Promotion[edit]

Thank you for removing that proposal. I found it ridiculous for it to even be there, but I didn't know if I had the authority to remove it. — Stooben Rooben 18:22, 26 July 2008 (EDT)

No problem. I thought it was even in the rulebook somewhere that proposals like that are not allowed. I can't find it now however, maybe we should add it somewhere to the Proposals page. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 18:24, 26 July 2008 (EDT)
I think that would be a good idea. — Stooben Rooben 18:27, 26 July 2008 (EDT)

I saw your message on Knife's page and it's going to be a Stock with Time Limit On since the match could last a very long time, and I guess its also because of what is stated in the rules too :P. C???

Well but what time limit will it be? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:40, 30 July 2008 (EDT)

Actually, I canceled the time limit rule. I forgot to edit that rule. I'll fix it.Knife (talk) 18:30, 2 August 2008 (EDT)

Just Wondering[edit]

I know you probably hear this question a lot, but do you know if there will be any promotions soon? — Stooben Rooben 16:03, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

Yes I do hear that often. Considering the last was some time ago, it may indeed not be far away. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:18, 1 August 2008 (EDT)
I figured you did. Thanks for answering. :) — Stooben Rooben 16:21, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

Cobold, you may have noticed that many sockpuppets: The Wiki Goomba, The Baby Goomba, The F****** Goomba, The Goomboss, The Goombella, The Goomba Super Fast, The Tight Goomba, and The Golden Goomba That Is Not Silver have all appeared as new users on the Wiki and are ALL spamming. Super Smash Bros. Nomination Page[edit]

You made an oppose for the Nomination, ao I did my best to fix anything that was wrong with the article, based on your oppose. I would appreciate it if you could cross out anything that has been fixed, just so that the article can meet standards. Thanks. Marcelagus (TCE)

That's a bit formal for simply "I got rid of that". - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:53, 15 August 2008 (EDT)

I'm Worried[edit]

I'm particularly concerned with this. Saudy (or someone who has hacked into his account) has threatened to spam/vandalize the wiki if Paper Jorge does not retire. And now Fg has also threatened to spam on Paper Jorge's talk page. I'm not sure if I'm being overtly worried about this, but it does seem to be a problem that needs solving. — Stooben Rooben 19:10, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

I agree. That's why I came to you. Wayoshi blocked him, so I think everything will be all right now. I agree about Fg too; after that many bans, you'd think he would have learned not to do things like that. o_o — Stooben Rooben 20:35, 17 August 2008 (EDT)

YoshiAndMe10 (talk)[edit]

Hi Cobold. The above user has several accounts on this wiki, as he admits on his user pages. Not sure what to do in his case. It appears he simply doesn't know about sockpuppetry being forbidden. But he also left votes on the Proposals page from his various accounts, and once even voted for the same option with two of his accounts. Is this a reason to block him? Time Questions 06:42, 22 August 2008 (EDT)

I think a warning would be enough, and we'll see how he behaves in the future. The double votes should be removed, of course. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 11:52, 22 August 2008 (EDT)

I'm fine, thanks. Though my activity is a little lower despite or maybe because it's holidays for me. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:23, 23 August 2008 (EDT)
That's cool. Super Mario RPG was released in the PAL regions yesterday, but it hasn't been released in North America yet. ;_; SJ derp :P
Yep, I noticed, and the first thing I did was ordering Wii Points and a Classic Controller. The PAL Virtual Console always has special events ("Hanabi festival") where games that where never released here are uploaded to the VC, that's why we got it. I don't think those exist in America though. :-/ - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:30, 23 August 2008 (EDT)
Nope, we don't have the Hanabi Festival here, though we should. I hope we get in Monday, but I doubt it because the group of meanies (known as Nintendo of America) won't let us have it. NoA hates us all. D: SJ derp :P
Did I offend you? I'm sorry if I did... SJ derp :P
What? No. How would you have? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:51, 23 August 2008 (EDT)

Well, of course Nintendo hates us more for not releasing it here originally. :O :P - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:58, 23 August 2008 (EDT)
Well they're pretending it doesn't exist here. :O I'm serious. If you ask them about it they won't mention the game in their reply. SJ derp :P

That's good. SMRPG was released on NA VC a couple weeks ago. :D SJ derp :P
It was released here, but I can't play it because it is for American 60Hz TVs and I have an old European 50Hz TV. Doesn't match, so the game is in black/white. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:08, 14 September 2008 (EDT)

Hey Cobold, since you successfully have passed your proposal, adding those flags. I think we should install this template from Wikipedia; Template:Vgrelease It contains minimal writing of making the template work instead of writing, long image names. And it reduces work time so we can slot these faster. After a few tweaks, I think it should work. ^_^ Agree? RAP.pngRAP... This will help how we manage slotting release dates. ;p

Good idea. The names are really too long. We should go for the template. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:09, 14 September 2008 (EDT)

I think you should upload two other flags for the wiki. China and South Korea. Though not sure of China, I think it may be somewhere around the wiki. And South Korea, per SMB article. RAP.pngRAP... Template is almost complete. ;)

Hey, Cobold. I remember that someone else had the idea too/came up with it first, so that was you, then? I think I might remember such a merge being shot down by the masses of Brawl fans that have since calmed down. :) Anyway, I'm sorry that you didn't get to be the proposer for this one - would you like me to put your name down as another proposer, because it really was your idea? Stumpers! 14:26, 26 September 2008 (EDT)

We need your input![edit]

Hey, Cobold. I'm sure you're aware, but you are a force on this Wiki, and so I really want your input on this, and hopefully your support. I recently posted the following on the Sysop Only Forum. I know you don't have an account, so I'm giving this to you here. Please let me know what you think... this post contains some background on the issue, so it should bring you up to date on what you missed on the forum.

If we are to do what we set out to with the canonicity thread, all of the sysops must be on the same page. Here’s a review of said thread:

In the canonicity thread, the following was established:

  1. There is no official canon.
  2. Accordingly, the Wiki should not endorse a canonicity policy or an unofficial canon.
  3. Our current article organization implies that the spin-offs and alternate media sources are non-canon because we have a “biography” section. This implies that the other sources did not happen in a character’s life. Organizing sources by release date under a “biography” heading also implies that MarioWiki:Chronology is official rather than unofficial.
  4. Therefore, we should sort the sources in a new manner: by type. The biography, spin-offs, and alternate media sections would be divided into: “Video Game Appearances,” “Television Series Appearances,” “Movie Appearance,” “Comic Book Appearances,” etc. Each section would then be subdivided into series. For example, video games would be subdivided into “Super Mario Series,” “Paper Mario Series,” “Mario Kart Series,” etc.

So, what we need to do now is have all sysops, including newcomer Rooben and non-forum member Cobold (I’ll talk with him), agree on one single version of a proposal. This proposal will outline the changes listed above in a clear manner and stress that these changes are being made in light of our non-conjectural canonicity policy (or lack thereof). Users who would oppose the proposal will be asked to describe in their oppose either (A) Why the current organization does not violate our canonicity policy. Opposers should not simply say that they personally are fine with the current article organization, but rather point out why it is more beneficial than the one we are proposing. (B) Another method of organization that could be used to not violate the canonicity policy.

However, we must admit that everyone is going to feel a slight twinge when they see this, because most people have an idea of canonicity already, usually related to the ideas described in MarioWiki:Chronology (this is because the series does have a chronology). So, in order to support the Mario series’ chronology without giving it a canon, I believe we should add the following to our proposal

  1. Unless a source explicitly occurred prior to another source within the section (ie Yoshi’s Island happens before Super Mario Bros.), sources should be organized by release date. This means that if the chronology is explicit (including character age), then it should be supported by article organization.
  2. NOTE: I’M VERY OPEN TO DROP THIS NEXT PART IF IT IS NOT LOGICAL OR IF YOU JUST DON’T LIKE IT. This next part is just to make this proposal easier to swallow. My goal by it is to make is so that users are more willing to support because it will make the change less drastic. Would it be possible to make a one-line template at the top of each source’s section? This template would just be text, or maybe be in an off-white box. It would have three links. On the left, it would link to the prior source’s section according to MarioWiki:Chronology, the next would link to MarioWiki:Chronology itself, and the last would link to the next source’s section according to MarioWiki:Chronology. This would allow people to jump from, for example, Luigi’s Mansion to Mario Party 3 back to Super Mario Sunshine back to Mario Party 4 and then to Game & Watch Gallery 4. So, people who believe in MK:Chronology will still be pleased. Again, this is a rather farfetched idea that would take a lot of effort, and I would be happy to drop it.

So, please discuss the above sections that I am going to write the proposal based on. Let the other sysops know that we need their help. Then, once everyone’s in agreement, I will write up the proposal and post it on this forum for everyone to dissect, edit, etc.

Cobold, thanks very much for your time and I look forward to your criticism and writing the proposal accordingly. Stumpers! 19:48, 30 September 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for the input! I'm happy to keep you informed. One solution that might work for the issue of release dates would be to go by the list in MarioWiki:Chronology. Would that be supporting the conjecture made on that page too much? I think that if we link to it on each bar, people would soon be made aware that MK:Chronology makes conjecture where conjecture is needed... but still, since no one has answered the call to argue over where each source should go (I specifically asked for people to on MK:Chronology itself), basically what I wrote originally is still there. Perhaps we should write the proposal without it as one of the terms, and then at the very end say something like, "We could also do XYZ if this passed. Please mention your interest in this idea if you would like us to implement it." It's what I did with the SSB special moves with the inclusion of SSB moves templates.
So, aside from your worries about the last part (which I also share), the other part you disagreed with was that we would include Yoshi's Island before Donkey Kong and such like that under the banner "Game Appearances." Many users are only going to care about the central series (example: Phoenix-Rider on the forums... I'm not sure who that is on the Wiki). That means that they are likely going to be fine with our proposal to separate it from the rest of the spin-offs and alternate media in the manner described. That alone should give us a substantial amount of votes. However, I could see these users disliking it if we go against the series' direct, confirmed continuity for the sake of organization. This idea is also going to go against the interests of Valient Comics and DiC TV show fans. Both series frequently reference back to events that occurred prior (usually "Back in Brooklyn"). Should we chose to prohibit placing such events first, we're going to make a bunch of users looking to tell the official story rather than history upset.
So, what I'm asking is that we make some concessions to those users who like things the way they are now. Essentially, I want to be able to sell this to them as this: "Nothing is going to change except that each alternate media and spin-off is going to get more attention. The biography sections will only change such that Mario Pinball Land and DDR:Mario Mix and such games will be in another section from the main series." If we get this proposal passed, we'll be substantially closer to our goal of eliminating fanon from the Wiki. Perhaps after people are used to the new changes, then we can try a proposal that would take the articles further away from in-series continuity and closer to history by sorting appearances by series and date rather than by series and position in the series. I'm sure you are aware of this fact: you are more likely to get supporters for proposals if you break grandiose ideas into short proposals so that people can vote on each issue rather than opposing all ideas because they don't like one or more of them. I think, considering that we will have to worry for fly-by-night users (here for a month, gone the next) who believe there actually is a canon because they are new here, we should make this first proposal so that people are allowed to sort by confirmed continuity. Sound good? Stumpers! 16:53, 1 October 2008 (EDT)
I'm wondering if we should split this into two parts. (1) Sorting everything by media and series. (2) Then placing each series in release date order rather than chronological order. By splitting this into two proposals, we're more likely to get the first part passed because of new users, such as IggyKoopa, who are/were not aware that the Super Mario series does not have a canon system. Stumpers! 14:40, 2 October 2008 (EDT)
Sounds great! I'm going to get the consent of several other sysops and admins, then I'll make sure you see a version of the proposal prior to it going public. Stumpers! 20:26, 2 October 2008 (EDT)

Just Stopping By[edit]

Hello, Cobold! How are you today? — Stooben Rooben 12:44, 2 October 2008 (EDT)

Glad to hear that. :) When I found out Nintendo was developing a new M&L game, I got really happy. I haven't played Partners it Time yet, but I absolutely love Superstar Saga! I'm too fond of the idea of the new DS doing away with the GBA slot though. :\ I'd rather Nintendo add something like the Virtual Console to the DS, that way you could buy old GB and GBC games. (I really miss Super Mario Bros. Deluxe...) So Nintendo's making a new Pikmin game? All the more reason for me to play the original then. — Stooben Rooben 16:12, 2 October 2008 (EDT)
Ah. Well, I probably won't get the ports; I'd just buy the GameCube versions used at GameStop. I'm not really sure what the point of a port really is, especially on a backwards compatible system, but if they've got some new features I suppose that makes it worth while for some people. — Stooben Rooben 16:55, 2 October 2008 (EDT)

Actually, Cobold, the DSi features have beem announced. But I just read in a site that the ML3 was announced for the DS, so yeah. I could give you a link, but it's in portuguese. Shrooby GreenDance.gif Talk

Man, that sucks. I don't know if you've used Craig's List or not, but they're pretty good too. You can buy, sell, and barter all sorts of stuff there. Plus it's international! :) — Stooben Rooben 08:30, 3 October 2008 (EDT)

Welcome back! I was starting to wonder what happened to you. — Stooben Rooben 16:01, 11 December 2008 (EST)

Oh, I didn't know that. I almost always saw you editing everyday, and then you stopped editing for a while...yeah, I thought you went on hiatus or something. I can understand the loss in motivation and interest with editing; it actually happened to me for a while in August; I got back in the swing of things though. Might I say, you've done really awesome work with those articles. I should acknowledge who edits what more often. ;) My main time occupier lately has been this monstrosity, which I hope to have done some time next month. Last year of school, eh? Kudos; I hope you ace your finals. I just started my freshman year of college back in September. I'm taking some online courses this month. — Stooben Rooben 16:37, 11 December 2008 (EST)
I always forget that terms vary throughout the world. XP I'm a freshman in university, I think would be the right way to put it. Thanks! Glad to hear you approve of it. Well, the reason why I put the first Mario Party in the Chronological Overview section, was because it started a whole new sub-series, that became extremely large. (The same with Super Mario Kart and Golf.) Then, down in the spin-off series section, I plan to give a brief overview of the entire series and how they are influenced by main Mario games. — Stooben Rooben 17:26, 11 December 2008 (EST)

It has been too long since we last talked. Mainly cuz I've been gone... For a long time. I gotta say, it was quite nice not having to worry about the Wiki for a few months, but I'm just too bored to stay away forever. So, yeah, how's life been for you? My Bloody Valentine

Ha, yeah, people kept telling me about how inactive you were. I always told them to cut you some slack cuz you're a college(?) student. Schoolwork? Pah, I hate schoolwork so very much, but that's not a problem for me at the moment; My damn apathy is. <.> Tho I just played Guitar Hero earlier today, and it was the most fun I've had in ages. But is that really surprising? If you've seen my latest userspace edits, you'll notice I have a HUGE obsession with music. And I mean huge! So, I'm hoping to get the game for Christmas, which should be easy cuz my brother loved the game just as much as I did, and we both get a large amount of money on Christmas. :D But that's too much about me, isn't it? I messaged you to ask how you were doing, and well, you answered that, lol. I don't blame you for not being all that active; I'm not the most optimistic person when it comes to the Wiki (er, actually, I'm not very optimistic when it comes to everything in life, really, but that's a different story). So, yeah, don't rush to get back on the Wiki. Enjoy your life, for it is very short... And I somehow turned most of that discussion into a discussion about me, wtf. :/ My Bloody Valentine Also, I got a new name. Whatcha think? Too bland?

I guess. I dunno, I just try to be cynical about things, so I see the worst in the Wiki. And everyone else agrees that the Wiki community is falling apart, so, I'm not entirely insane. Ha, true. "Black Hole Sun" is one of my favorite songs, cuz of how emo it is; It's about complete disdain and hatred of everything in the world. DEFINITELY my style. Grunge FTW! But I don't think you're the music type... Right? :P Ah, Mario & Luigi 3 looks quite decent. I might actually buy it when it comes out, but as I said before, I'm more focussed on getting Guitar Hero World Tour. But Nintendo seems to be quite lazy at the moment... But I might be delusioned cuz of my cynicism. Yeah, I'm with you there; There's nothing much for me to edit now. So I'm just here to do gnome work. Better than doing nothing, amirite? My Bloody Valentine

I think the community is more than just Userpedia and sprite comics, yo. The community itself isn't important to the Wiki, but still, it does give us a pretty bad image cuz our community is filled with total morons. :/ Yes, indeed. And as I said before, Nintendo is being really lazy with their games at the moment, so it's kinda hard to make new articles now. :/ My Bloody Valentine

Name in Other Languages Templates[edit]

Hey,Cobold I have a question about this templates:
The Current Order is:
,European French
,American French
,European Spanish
,American Spanish

I think that should be like this:
,American Spanish
,European Spanish
,European French
,American French
Japanese-The Mario Games are from Japan,
American Spanish-Most Talked Language in South/Center America,
European Spanish-Most Talked Language in Europe along with French,
German-No problem,
European French-Like EUR Spanish,
American French-With Canada,Guayana,
All the others-No problem.

Please answer me this question =D--MATEOELBACAN 23:07, 5 November 2009 (EST)

That list is unreadable. Can you please use a MediaWiki list with # or *? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:08, 6 November 2009 (EST)

Edited =D,now please respond me..--MATEOELBACAN 15:01, 6 November 2009 (EST)

I don't know where you get those stats from concerning Europe. Considering native speakers alone, the proper order, if you want to order by the number of speakers, would be:
  1. German
  2. European French
  3. Italian
  4. European Spanish

German sits on top even when only counting the European Union, which notably excludes Switzerland, a >60% German-speaking country. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:26, 6 November 2009 (EST)

Well..acording to this Proof (In Spanish, translate it with Google) Spanish is the 2nd most talked language (1st is Chinise and 3rd English).. --MATEOELBACAN 15:46, 6 November 2009 (EST)

Internationally yes, mainly because of American Spanish, but not in Europe which I was talking about. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:53, 6 November 2009 (EST)

But Cobold,If you say that, then I think was right before..--MATEOELBACAN 16:06, 6 November 2009 (EST) Then it should be internatiolly:

  1. Japanese
  2. American Spanish
  3. European Spanish
  4. German
  5. European French
  6. American French
  7. Italian
  8. Dutch
  9. Chinese
  10. Korean

(I put Chinese at the near end because there aren't much chinese people in the wiki, only 15-20,And I put Japanese first because Nintendo is from there),Tell me what do you think.--MATEOELBACAN 08:37, 8 November 2009 (EST)

Why not order it by region or alphabetically? Or both? That sounds a lot more convenient than a random mish-mash of number of speakers & number of visitors on the wiki. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 11:54, 8 November 2009 (EST)

Well..But how could be that?,Can you make a list? --MATEOELBACAN 17:32, 9 November 2009 (EST) How do you think?,tell me please,I want to know..--MATEOELBACAN 16:02, 10 November 2009 (EST)

How about just this:

  1. Japanese
  2. American French
  3. American Spanish
  4. Dutch
  5. Eur. French
  6. German
  7. Italian
  8. Eur. Spanish
  9. the rest

I ordered it by region, then by alphabet. Having dutch up there is not a big deal considering that only one Mario game has ever been translated to Dutch. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:12, 11 November 2009 (EST)

I like that =D!,the only thing that I want to tell you is that,How if we do this minor change:

  1. Japanese
  2. American French
  3. American Spanish
  4. Dutch
  5. Eur. French
  6. Eur. Spanish
  7. German
  8. Italian
  9. The rest

I think that Eur. Spanish should be along with Eur. French Because the the two starts with "E",if you agree, you can change the templates.--MATEOELBACAN 20:40, 11 November 2009 (EST)

I don't like those names, I'd prefer to have "Spanish (American)" and "Spanish (European)". - Cobold (talk · contribs) 07:24, 12 November 2009 (EST)

I'm just going to say you the same!,You readed my mind! O________o Then it should be:

  1. Japanese
  2. American French or French (Canadian)
  3. American Spanish or Spanish (American)
  4. Dutch
  5. European French or French (European)
  6. European Spanish or Spanish (European)
  7. German
  8. Italian
  9. The rest

I also think that American Spanish/French and European Spanish/French are better,If now you agree change the templates.--MATEOELBACAN 16:25, 12 November 2009 (EST)

Hey Cobold,Can you please change the templates now?,because I'm putting them in much pages and I would like they were changed.--MATEOELBACAN 13:42, 14 November 2009 (EST)

Protection Status - Princess Peach article[edit]

I just noticed you changed the protection status of the Princess Peach article. I am to assume that it reads "registered users that are 30 days old can edit, but only sysops can "move" it"? Oh, I understand where you're coming from on that in regards to the "move" action. Besides, it was flat out annoying that folks would try to "move" the Princess Peach article just to change it back to how they want it to look like in the article's title. It's better as "Princess Peach". Also, in regards to the "edit" action, I placed the "registered users only" lock on it weeks ago because of events that happened there (I believe you might have seen evidence of that in the article's edit history). --M. Birds in Donkey Kong[edit]

Hello Cobold, could you take a look at this talk page? Nice to see that somebody finally creates new articles on the Game Boy Donkey Kong. :-) --Grandy02 12:53, 9 January 2010 (EST)

I'll have a look. Yeah, me and Edo have been busy filling up some holes (everything) for this game. :) - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:56, 9 January 2010 (EST)

Donkey Kong screenshots[edit]

Hello Cobold, I see you recently uploaded Game Boy Donkey Kong screenshots. However, they are in black and white rather than featuring the Super Game Boy colour scheme. Can you tell Edofenrir to take the screenshots with Super Game Boy colours if possible, like it has also been done for the earlier screenshots (I don't think the border is always needed, though)? --Grandy02 16:39, 18 January 2010 (EST)

Hm, too bad. But at least for the Big-City map, you could crop the picture from this image and reupload it as DKGB 1 BigCity.png. --Grandy02 16:45, 18 January 2010 (EST)

Sand Block[edit]

I found out that the mover of Sand Block to Sand Cube (A.K.A. TyreeMiller) also made a move to Super Piranha Plant, renaming it "Heavy Piranha Plant. His reason? "Stuck in a negative page". Does that make any sense to you? Hello, I'm Time Turner.

That's what I thought. I'll see if he did any more stupid moves. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Well, he previously moved the New Super Mario Bros. Wii world articles into conjectural names. Reason? "The title of the article is just a world number". He also moved ? Block to Item Block, with this reason: "The title of the article has a question mark at the beginning". It's like he thinks the Mario Wiki is his little toy. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
But just by looking at his reasons, would you accept them as valid reasons? Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Actually, since Exclamation Mark was named as such in the Super Mario World manual, perhaps the Note Block has a name too. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

can you please...[edit]

Re: Shroom[edit]

Yeah, I noticed when I put the NIWA News section up that it was pretty hard to read the links and a few other areas. I think I'll go ahead and switch them to the default background. SMB is working on a more neutral background, so hopefully it'll be up by the time the next issue is released. — Stooben Rooben 13:59, 11 February 2010 (EST)

He's a sockpuppet of a previous vandal. Can you IP ban him so that he stops vandalizing? Hello, I'm Time Turner.

He just created 2 accounts under the same name. its sockpuppetting please ban him.

Pikmin' BluePikminKong497

Can you ban him? He's moving articles to unofficial names. And it seems like you're the one that's getting all the banning requests. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

You can give ban requests to any active sysop, they're just piling up on my talk page for no particular reason. I would warn you though that I'm not the most active when it comes to browsing the wiki itself, so I'm usually not helpful if you need to urgently stop a troll.
I will not ban a user for making a mistake once or twice. It's always possible that inexperienced users try to help the wiki, but in wrong ways. That's what we have reminders for, not the ban hammer. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 20:18, 17 April 2010 (EDT)

Reply: Kill[edit]

"Killed" and "dying" is still a strong word. How do you know Donkey Kong doesn't faint? Mario crumbles and falls too in Super Mario 64, but he doesn't die (since he is kicked out of the painting after that.)

I think it's just a matter of preference. I tend to use the word "defeated" instead of dying because "defeated" can go in a broader array. Defeated can mean fainting or dying.

Hello Cobold

Why did you protect the Mario article? It isn't fair to other users if they want to edit the article. Kaptain K. RoolKaptain K. Rool Sprite of Kaptain K. Rool in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Do you think you can unprotect the Mario article now? Kaptain K. RoolKaptain K. Rool Sprite of Kaptain K. Rool in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Not really, but it isn't good faith of sysops to protect pages they want. Sysops must only protect pages which is commonly spammed and vandalized. Not ones they want to. Keep that in mind Cobold. Mario#Mario Party series[edit]

Could you please add "<br clear=all>" after this section? Also shrink the image to "x100px" ("x" does 100px to height instead of width). Also I've noticed nonsence at Mario#Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, image description says "Mario in his first '3D' game.", however, Super Mario Kart was first (and I'm even not sure if SMRPG was 3D). Mario#Role in the Subspace Emissary. Align the second image to the left. SWFlashSWFlash.svg
Also in Mario#Super Mario Sunshine fix all "FLUDD"s to "F.L.U.D.D.". SWFlashSWFlash.svg

Since I was on, I've made the changes (sans the Mario Sunshine thing) requested above (not sure about aligning that SE image to the left, though). I changed that SMRPG caption to "Mario's first 3D model" as SMK doesn't use 3D graphics and neither it or SMRPG are "3D games". --Glowsquid 12:01, 14 March 2011 (EDT)

I don't know you, but I agree with your comment from long ago. On the NSMBW talk page, where you said "It's nice to have a power-up section, but I don't think we should say "Fire Mario" considering you can play as Luigi and Toad as well. "Fire Flower", "Penguin Suit" and the likes should do it." Well, if you haven't noticed, I made a section called Forms. Well, it started off with "Penguin Form" and the likes, but some guy chganged it to "Penguin Mario". I need a person to support my request on this, because the guy will and keeps changing it to "Mario" for ever! I appreciate the support

That's funny. I saw the {{GCN}} template and has Luigi's Mansion within the main series... OK, as I'm not going to come back here but later on, try to fix the templates in the correct way then. ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png
