What counts as "carry?"[edit]

I was scrolling through the gallery for this page earlier and found a few images which certainly raised an eyebrow.
They aren't exactly major issues, of course. And have likely been removed by the time you started reading this, but it looks like this may be an early warning sign that this scope of this article may be a bit too broad.
I believe we ought to have some guidelines for what qualifies as "carry" in the context of this page, lest the article either start listing irrelevant sections like:
- "'In the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, the heroes are occasionally seen carrying vegetables before using them to attack King Koopa and his Koopa Pack."
- "In the NES version of Donkey Kong Jr., the titular character can be seen carrying Donkey Kong after he is freed from Mario's cage."
- "In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Kamek carries Bowser Jr. on his back during most of Mario's exploration of Shangri-Spa."
Or sections related solely to the "Throw" mechanic, which isn't always tied to the "carry" mechanic. Wandering Poplin (talk) 17:56, January 15, 2026 (EST)
- Keep in mind that "throw" redirects here currently. It probably doesn't need to, given kick covers times when it's used as the de facto "throw" mechanic. The same goes for the "pluck" mechanic in SMB2, though I can't remember if that's an official name. Unless that one gets split, I'd prefer the plucking images stay in the gallery, though most of the examples you showed above are very much a "people sit on chairs" thing that shouldn't be included. - Where is the Mario Party coverage, practically all Mario Party games have minigames where characters carry objects.

- The entity that initially created the page has such little Mario Party experience to the point said entity tends to forget it even exists, that's why. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:10, January 16, 2026 (EST)
- So, how would you determine if "Carry" from Mario Party gets an article? Would Treasure Divers qualify? Bumper Crop? Crops 'n' Robbers? Rumble Ready? Team Treasure Trek? Chimp Chase? World Piece? Unhappy Trails? Puzzle Pandemonium? Guess we just need to put some elbow grease and make it akin to the Water or Swim article we have currently.

Wario can actually carry certain throwable objects above his head in WL4, but yeah, that sprite ain't that. This sprite sheet should have it, though (rows 19-21).
