Variants

The Yoshi Bird 1-gō is the first aircraft of the Great Bōeigun, that appears as the main vehicle of the squad in Super Mario Bros. 4: Super Mario World 7 of the Super Mario Kodansha manga.

It is a green fighter jet with a "1" painted on the side. Like the rest of the Yoshi Bird, it is designed to resemble a Yoshi: with the eyes as the windscreen, the red boots as the exhausts, and the saddle as the sunroof roof.

During chapter 1, the Great Bōeigun uses it to stop Super Mecha Koopa, releasing then the Yoshi Bird 2-gō to rescue the BomBom Yōchien students and staff. In chapter 2 it is used to reach the Mushroom Kingdom, but it gets karate-chopped by the KK Robo, but soon returns to fly, releasing the Yoshi Bird 3-gō to rescue Peach. In chapter 3, the Yoshi Bird 1-gō is used by the squad to reach Sarasaland and by the end it is devoured by Yoshi and spit back as a rocket ship: the Yoshi Bird 5-gō.
