Super Mario Bros.: King Koopa Katastrophe (otherwise known as simply King Koopa Katastrophe) is the first DVD out of four in the thematic DVD series of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 (it was also released as the last VHS of the series). It was released on July 22, 2003 by Sterling Entertainment, unlike the later ones released by NCircle Entertainment. King Koopa Katastrophe does not have an actual theme, but it contains the first six episodes of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 in production order.

The significance of this DVD, aside from being the first of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, is the fact that the original covers in "The Beauty of Kootie," "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel," and "Reign Storm" are not removed from it, unlike in later releases of these episodes that play the instrumental of "Mega Move" from Captain N: The Game Master.

Errors

• On the front cover, Luigi's eyes are colored blue like Mario's instead of green.
• On the NCircle Entertainment re-release, the DVD is erroneously titled as a DVD for The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, despite it only containing episodes of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.
• The Spanish release of the DVD is poorly translated:
  • Many titles of episodes use literal translations of the English titles as opposed to using their titles in the Audiomaster 3000 Latin American Spanish dub of the show:
    • "Reptiles in the Rose Garden" is translated as "Reptiles en el Jardín de Rosas" instead of "Reptiles en el Jardín de las Rosas."
    • "Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas" is translated as "Tramposos, Mentirosos e Intrigantes Koopas Ninjas Gigantes" instead of "Los tramposos mentirosos e intrigantes Koopas ninja gigantes."
    • "The Beauty of Kootie" is translated as "La Belleza de Kooti" instead of "La bella Kootie Pie" (literally "The beautiful Kootie Pie").
    • "Reign Storm" is translated as "Asalto al Reino" instead of "Reinado tormentoso" (literally "Stormy reign").
    • "Never Koop a Koopa" is translated as "Nunca Encierres a un Koopa" instead of "Nunca koopaconfies en un Koopa" (literally "Never koopatrust a Koopa").

Notes

• The advertisement promoting this DVD (seen on a few General Mills DIC promotional DVDs and a few of Sterling Entertainment VHSes) reuses a majority of the footage of the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!: Mario's Greatest Movie Moments commercial. It showcases three episodes of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! instead of any of the final ones: "Robo Koopa," "Count Koopula," and "Mario Meets Koop-zilla."
