Though it is not my favourite game (I actually suck that much at sidescrollers, that I never beat it), it is the very first Mario game I remember, and it was the game that brought me into the Marioverse (and overall videogames), so it's very special to me. I hope I can rewrite some more level summaries, as that gameguidish talk... well, it doesn't suit the game, I think. I did not. However, I didn't look at most of the item textures, which is where I imagine such a thing would be found. Plus, were I a programmer putting three different coin colors into the game, I would use a single texture for all three, and alter the hue in the program. Well, the Life Shroom and Volt Shroom are purple and gold in PM1, is it just that they have unfinished graphics? Also, I don't think there's a way to do that, although you could probably at least take a screenshot with a video capture card. There shouldn't be any way for the system to detect that. Really I'm surprised they protect their internally released discs more heavily than commercial ones, I mean, if you had this before the "official" version of the game came out, you'd hardly need to hack it to cause damage. - 2257^(Talk) 18:10, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

Normally, I decompile ROM dumps and then do my best to figure out how the different file formats are encoded. Luckily, PMTTYD uses some fairly standard formats. The text in the ROM is actually Unicode in the original, although the English version uses ANSI (a Microsoft standard O_o) instead. The graphics all seem to be TPL, a standard that's pretty common in Nintendo programs. The model format is unique tho.

Obviously, none of that applies to you unless you can make a ROM dump. I found the GameCube Action Replay to be quite difficult to use (the way you have to decrypt and encrypt codes is extremely fail, as it prevents you from testing different values for a single address easily. The purpose of that was originally to prevent end users from creating codes at all, which is even more fail.), so I'm not that familiar with how it works, unfortunately. - 2257^(Talk) 01:10, 30 September 2009 (EDT)

This Header, it Falsely Implies Importance Within This Message

... I have no idea what compelled me to randomly log in here after so long. I think I just saw the Bookmark way at the bottom of the list in my browser. I had literally forgotten about this place for over a month - literally, I had forgotten. I'm serious.

It's nice that you ask - in the almost whole year since we last met, I have flirted with death in closer ways than before, thus thinking of each day since mid-August as a test of survival. I have also failed several school subjects this year, due to complete lack of motivation... and I can't stay awake. I purchased Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story when it came out, and was impressed with it being... almost... better than SS. Quite amazing, really. I love it, I really do. I hope you have it and also enjoy it. I am deeply disappointed at the lack of high-profile Nintendo titles for this Christmas, as I consider NSMB Wii a bit 'meh' since it probably has family-friendly syndrome; that is, most likely far too easy like NSMB on DS was for me. A few months ago, my computer crashed, losing all of my files. I now have to use a very old computer. In the same month (August), my Wii broke, and I lost 2.5 years of game progress. I have spent so much time trying to achieve what I once had on over 9 games. Also, I have delved further into the mysteries of philosophy this year... and found some terrible things. Finally, I have spent most of my online time on my YouTube account, where I have only 50,000 total video views... not as many as I had hoped for almost a year's worth of being there.

... of the few times I've checked this Wiki, it seems to have gone downhill. This saddens me. However, the fact that you remain here is the reason it has not fallen apart, I believe.

That's a brief summary of my year since February.

More importantly, how have you been? And also, do you think this Wiki is much different to what it was way back?

Time Waits Not For Me

Sorry for the delay... no need to worry, I plan on replying within 5 months at the most now! It's a slight improvement.

It has been, and overall it's been a year I'd never repeat... definitely a lower score than most other years of my life. I don't suppose you list your years from best to worst, do you? My best was 2002 or '04, and worst was '01.

Yep, but even when I'm awake my motivation remains at zero. I have to get an A+ on two exams to past the two respective subjects. Yeah, I've only redone about 30-40% of my lost game progress now... redoing the 3 Pits of 100 Trials was annoying, and it sucks that Brawl can't be saved to an SD Card. It's stupid. No, not Brawl... that's a good game.

You're lucky you even had the opportunity to take philosophy courses - my school is small and has few choices. Oh, and you're also lucky to have friends to speak of! I'm almost certain it's just a phase for those friends you mentioned. And yes, you are the personification of... I dunno, getting through tough times...

I do vaguely remember... reading all that, you've had a whole lot going on in your life... a lot. I feel bad for having left at a time just before that happened, as I would've been able to offer reassurance had I been on. Congoatulations on finishing those college finals! Yeah, I think there is maybe a law of averages that applies to life... the good balances out the bad. But if that's the case, I'd have to win the lottery or something in the future, lol.

Well then, I'm glad I was away during that time. That... that's really quite scary, what you speak of. In fact, I was like "holy s**t!" when I read all that. I must say, it's a relief that Porple aka Steve has the power to revert the server, undoing all that damage. Would've been a disaster otherwise.

Hey Stoob. I was looking at the Shroom part you just created - I noticed that the background is very hindering. It is not completely obscuring the text, but it is making reading a project. I think a newspaper should be designed inviting, and the images in the background are more of a hinderance than an invitation to read what the article says. I've gone through two name changes (I was originally Superstar Daisy, but later I got it changed to Pie Shroom and just recently I became Homestar Runner). Well, User:Superstar Daisy redirects to User:Pie Shroom/sig, which, in turn, re directs to User:Homestar Runner/sig. The system thinks I'm not the owner of those pages (OK, bad metaphor) since the user in the page title is different from the user trying to edit the page.
