Boy, the world of Mario is full of strange critters, isn't it?
Alien (Club Nintendo)[edit]
("For context, this is about a bunch of background characters from exactly one German comic that never see any real individual focus outside of their leader.")
The aliens first appeared in the Club Nintendo comic "Sag niemals Holerö".
The aliens planned to turn all the humans into food with the help of the Master Alien's plans. Disguised as a human, (a famous singer named Heini), the Master Alien used a magical word in a song to turn all the humans into food. This word was "Holerö". Once the humans were food he devised a plot to get them to all come to one place; one of his "concerts". As the music became popular it was played in different places turning the people who heard it into food. For example in the comic a women decides to listen to it on a jukebox but luckily Bomberman blows it up before she can transform. After gathering the "food people" into one area the aliens would then devour them. Mario, T.T., and Bomberman put a stop to this with the help of a magic toilet brush.
There were many types of aliens that showed up to the feast. The aliens include:
- Bird Alien - These aliens resemble ostriches that walk upright and have two arms. The bird aliens have purple feathers on the back of their heads and shoulders. They have a beak containing a long red tongue, and have what seems to be teeth. The rest of the their body is covered in yellow feathers with a red and yellow suit covering most of their upper body and torso.
- Sickobratz - They are seen in the background as waiters.
- Ant Alien - The ant aliens resembled large ants or cockroaches. They were relatively short. They stood up on two feet and had two arms, were brown, had antennae, and had a large mouth baring sharp teeth. They can be seen saying "Porinki-Porinki!", which is presumably their language.
- Blue Alien - The blue aliens have a hippopotamus-like appearance. The blue aliens were blue and wore a purple and black suit that covered most of the body except for the face. Their suits had tubes coming out of the back of it, and going into the head, perhaps a breathing mechanism. They can be seen saying "Yalla-Yalla", which may be their language.
- Brown Alien - The brown alien has large blue eyes and a long tube like mouth, with three-fingered hands.
- Green Alien - The green alien is a large, buff alien bearing a mouth with large pink lips, many sharp teeth, and a long red tongue. The green alien also wears a dome shaped red and gold hard hat. They can be seen shouting "Krzbrzl-Korizl!", which is probably their language.
- Cycloptic Alien - The cycloptic alien has one eye. This alien is blue, and has a face with light blue facial hair: a mustache, and a beard that goes up over its head. This alien also has a large mouth with many sharp teeth and its head also has golden bolts on both sides.
- Iguana Alien - This alien is briefly seen and resembles an iguana with a suit on. It has spotty skin with large, curved tusks coming out of its mouth.
- Squid Alien - This alien resembles a blooper or just a squid like animal. This alien probably comes from an aquatic planet. The alien's face, however, resembled a fish, and also had fins on the cheeks and a spiky dorsal fin going down its back.
The UFOs seen in the parking lot are presumably the way the aliens came to Earth. UFOs are high-tech vehicles that can travel large distances in space. There are also many different kinds according to the comic, some shaped like saucers and others look like squares.
- One of the aliens (Heini) resembles Cthulhu.
("Wow, I sure got my head stuck in the sand... Could you explain aliens to me again?") --CyonOfGaia (talk)
Blue Yoshi[edit]
- Super Mario Run description
"Yoshi is Mario's loyal adventuring buddy. He is a 15 year old squeaker and raging homosexual in denial. He can Flutter Jump, and he's got no fear of spikes! Popular with Blue Toads."
("...are the Blue Toads homosexual too or something?" Arend (talk))
Blue yoshi is playable in many of the yoshi games and some mario games. This includes Yoshi's crafted world and Mario kart 8
Best yoshi ever!
("Hey, I agree with that statement too! Though I think all Yoshis are the best." --CyonOfGaia (talk))
Bonecoaster[edit]
- The Bonecoaster is probably a dead snake (possibly even a dry snake).
(Did you know that Pirate Goomba is probably a Pirate Goomba?)
Brown Yoshi[edit]
Due to the absence of Brown Yoshis in recent games, and with the prevailance of Orange Yoshis instead, many consider Brown Yoshi and Orange Yoshi to be one and the same. Of course, it's also possible that Brown Yoshis are simply endangered.
[...]
It's appearances usually take place in the past and are almost never seen in the modern day, implying that they've become extinct or at least critically endangered.
("Habitat destruction and poaching finally got to them." LeftyGreenMario (talk))
Crow[edit]
While nobody understands what they say initially, they are actually very intelligent and often discuss complex issues, such as family matters, stocks, the environment, and even university applications, but they mostly do this when no one is around, and when in presence of other people, they mostly make "caw" sounds. Their intelligence is a reference to how actual crows are highly intelligent species in the animal kingdom, rivaling chimpanzees.
(While this describes their actual characterization in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it was in the lead paragraph of the article with absolutely no context given.)
Dorrie[edit]
The first known Dorrie from Super Mario 64 lives in an underground lake in the Hazy Maze Cave. He spends his days swimming in circles, but will gladly give Mario a ride if he gets on his back. It is also possible to steer Dorrie by carefully climbing up onto his head; Mario will lose control of movement for a moment, then the player can control Dorrie by facing the direction they want to go in. Ground Pounding on his head will cause him to lower his neck, making this task easier. A sign near the lake in which he takes residence states that he might eat visitors if they get too close, although he otherwise proves to be a harmless creature. Apparently, Dorrie is a Plesiosaur, possessing a rather younger complexsion.
Dromedary[edit]
As soon as he gets on it, the Dromedary starts to run very quickly and Mario gets flung away. Later in the comic, he meets the very same Dromedary again. Angrily, it kicks him away. The fact that Mario lands miles away from the animal suggests that it has supernatural powers.
("To be fair, real, non-supernatural dromedaries aren't green like this specific Dromerdary, so I can understand the assumption." - Arend (talk))
Eevee[edit]
Sadly, if no one is near Eevee, it won't do anything at all leaving it useless in large stages.
Emoglobin[edit]
- Emoglobins may be emo, which their name confirms.
Follow Toad[edit]
Follow Toad is a species of Toad that debuted in Mario Party Advance.

Koopa Kid[edit]
Additionally, a certain Koopa Kid shopkeeper ran an unethical Item Shop in the Bowser Land, where players were forced into buying random items.
("The Item Shop, from further investigation, is heavily involved in the Black Market," - LeftyGreenMario (talk))
Luma[edit]
- Luma plays a much more important role in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 than most people probably realize
Mii[edit]
Miis in Mario Super Sluggers have wooden bodies with painted on baseball uniforms.
[...]
It should also be noted that all male Miis are right-handed batters, while the female Miis are left-handed batters in this game. Both genders are right-handed fielders though. For some reason, they don't speak in the game. (probably due to the fact they are not alive, but animated dolls)
Mole (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars)[edit]
They are generous, outgoing, backward and unsophisticated people that Mario and co encounter during the events of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
Paperfolk[edit]

Paperfolk[1] (also written as two words[2]) are a collective species of paper-based beings featured in the Paper Mario series and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
Due to their composition, Paperfolk have the limitations of normal paper, able to be cut up, hole punched, stapled, and folded into origami along with other unnatural shapes. They can also get soggy when wet and suffer critical damage from fire-based attacks, as shown in Paper Jam.
The Paperfolk play a major role in the plot of Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, being released by Luigi from a mysterious book in the game's opening. Mario and Luigi team up with Paper Mario to track down the various Paper Toads that have been released, while Bowser unites with Paper Bowser.
After making their way through Doop Doop Dunes, the protagonists lose the book to Bowser Jr. and Paper Bowser Jr., who intend to destroy it so they can stay together, but they ultimately decide to keep it. Bowser and Paper Bowser discover the book themselves and intend to trap the Mario Bros. in the book and then destroy it. However, prior to that, the Bowsers plan to betray each other afterward, trapping the other in the book along with the trio, which they fail in doing.
After the final battle with Shiny RoboBowser, Mario, Luigi, and Paper Mario trap Paper Bowser back in the book and ultimately use the book to return all of the Paper characters and Paper terrain back to their own world.
- ^ "Whooo... I'm so light and airy! Is this what you paperfolk feel like all the time?" - Huey, Paper Mario: Color Splash
- ^ "Once these flat paper folks have been turned into Folded Soldiers, we can't turn them back!" - Olivia, Paper Mario: The Origami King
("This article basically existed entirely under the pretense that Paper Jam is accurate and retconning aspects from the previous Mario RPGs... Then the future Paper Marios entirely ignored it, and there were no further Mario & Luigis (not from the same developer, anyways), so with nothing to uphold it, the hypothesis imploded even without our Canonicity guidelines. This was made in 2023." ~Camwoodstock (talk))
Penguin[edit]
- Penguins are possible relatives to Bumpties.
- Cooligans in New Super Mario Bros. Wii look like Penguins.
("Penguins look like penguins. Shocking." - Doc von Schmeltwick (talk))
People who looked remarkably like Mallow[edit]
(This was a redirect to Nimbus; it should be noted that Mallow himself is a Nimbus.)
("Surprised that Lakitu's Cloud wasn't included." - Arend (talk))
Pianta[edit]
Occasionally, Piantas have been known to have same-sex relations with each other, which could point out Nintendo's stance on the controversial topic that is homosexuality.
Subcon (species)[edit]
Despite being capable of protecting the dream world and the kingdom, judging from physical appearance, the casual observer would regard them as physically weak.
- Sprixie Princesses from Super Mario 3D World have also being locked, but in a different way than Subcons, they have being locked in jars instead of a Vase, they have being locked by Bowser instead of Wart, and they have each one a jar to be locked instead of sharing the same jar because the jars are too small to contain all the Sprixie Princesses.
("There was only one period here. ONE.")
("Are we not gonna adress the broken English?! Anyways, i was the person to have added this, but it was years ago.) FanOfYoshi (talk)
Toad (species)[edit]
Toads dont appear in New Super Mario Bros., in the intro, the small things panicking aren't toads, they are toadsworths. Nintendo probably didnt want to make a new model just for toad, and used toadsworth's model instead. Toadsworth also appear in mushroom houses.
(While the information is technically correct, the way this is worded, unsourced, and taken out of context makes this sound like completely nonsense. -Baby Luigi (talk))
Althought the Toads are occasionally depicted as happy in some artworks, there are differences: Toadette rarely winks usually. Toads are never seen winking like this.
("So, uh, how often, exactly?" Doc von Schmeltwick (talk)
(Later, it would be re-added as this:)
Although the Toads are depicted a being happy in some artworks, there are differences. Toadette flirtatiously winks when depicted in several artworks, which is not present in any games the Toads appeared.
("I mean, that second one's wink is kinda flirtatious..." -Arend (talk))
Whittle[edit]
They speak with simplified, somewhat incorrect grammar, but it should be pointed out that their linguistic abilities are above average for trees.
[...]
- watt and whittle may be related as they both start with W
("Then by this logic, Wario and Waluigi are also Whittle's cousins because their names start with W." --EleCyon (talk))
