Mario Golf: Advance Tour is the only Mario Golf game for the Game Boy Advance. It continued the RPG style of the Mario Golf series. It featured eight playable Mario characters in all, four of which have to be unlocked. There were also even more exclusive human characters that Camelot made for the game. The two main characters in Mario Golf: Advance Tour could be transferred to the Nintendo GameCube video game Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour if the Player uses the GBA to Gamecube link cable. It was advertised as being Role-Playing Golf.

  • Mario – Playable from start.
  • Princess Peach – Playable from start.
  • Yoshi – Playable from start.
  • Donkey Kong – Playable from start.
  • Wario – Use the GBA to GC cable to obtain. Also says "Nintendo, ha ha ha."
  • Luigi – Use the GBA to GC cable to obtain.
  • Waluigi – Use the GBA to GC cable to obtain. Also says "Camelot, ha ha ha."
  • Bowser – Use the GBA to GC cable to obtain.
  • Neil – The main male character.
  • Ella – The main female character.

  • Joe – Defeat him in Match play in story mode.
  • Putts – Defeat him and Joe in double Match play in story mode.
  • Sherry – Defeat her in Match play in story mode.
  • Grace – Defeat her and Sherry in double Match play in story mode.
  • Azalea – Defeat her in Match play in story mode.
  • Tiny – Defeat him and Azalea in double Match play in story mode.
  • Kid – Defeat him in Match play in story mode.
  • Gene – Defeat him and Kid in double Match play in story mode.
