Paul Emmanuel Habaradas (born December 5, 2007) is a well-known Mario fan, Pokémon, and Animal Crossing fan.

Life as a Mario fan

Early years

Paul started becoming a Mario fan after his best friend influenced him through bringing toys daily and Nintendo 3DS weekly. At April of 2018, he was fully influenced and started to get interested in Super Mario. That is, when his parents enrolled him to another school for an unknown reason. Despite changing school, it has already been stuck on his head and cannot let go of it. Occasionally, he peeks on a Nintendo Switch console at a game store, hoping to get it someday.

Nintendo Wii

Prior to being a Mario fan, he already got a chance to play a Nintendo Wii on his early childhood on his therapist. He played Table Tennis in Wii Sports Resort. In December 30, 2020, he got a Nintendo Wii and played nostalgic Mario games such as Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Sports Mix, his favorite Mario Party game Mario Party 9, among others. As of 2025, he is unable to play the Wii as it broke, but he still remained nostalgic after playing numerous Wii games.

Before having a Nintendo Switch

Beginning 2018, he started playing Mario games, with his first game being played was Super Mario Run. The next year, he played Mario Kart Tour, beginning with Halloween Tour (2019), which he still plays it today, despite the tours being reruned. When the pandemic occurred, his downtime was always Mario Kart Tour, as it keeps him company. Thanks to that game, 2020 went by very fast because of the tours changing every other week.

Since having a Nintendo Switch

In 2021, he won a Nintendo Switch giveaway and was very excited to play the game. His first games were Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Party, in which he both beat the story mode even before February ended. Throughout 2021, he mostly plays Super Mario Odyssey, where he speedruns the game and mostly finishes the story mode in less than 90 minutes, with his personal best going as low as 79 minutes as of September 2021. He, unfortunately, left out on the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary celebration. However, he got Super Mario 3D All-Stars nine months after Nintendo ended production, and a few days before his birthday. A few days later, he also got Paper Mario: The Origami King, in which he often get the Game Over screen intentionally, but he challenged himself that every time he get the Game Over screen in Origami, he has to play a game of chess until he wins a game. The next year, he unnecessarily but funnily associated with the NCAA's Game On, where he also has to watch the show while the Game Over screen is shown in Origami.

On May 2022, he got Mario Party Superstars, and played his first minigame Look Away. A few weeks later, he eventually met a new friend on Twitch.[1] He entered his first tournament in June 13 as a rookie, but he badly lost after his Star was stolen away by a giant Piranha Plant in Peach's Birthday Cake.[2] He also lost the tourney in November 1, but played a lot better than his first tourney. In March 2023, he played his very best that leads him to the play-in, where he lost but won the championship for the lower category, known as the Underground.

It takes him 16 months to get another Mario game, which is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in September 2023. He also stares at Lakitu clapping on the Nice Try! screen, cause he doesn't know why, but mostly does that when he frequently lose a chess tournament.

POW Plays era

A few days before Christmas in 2023, he hardly decided between Super Mario RPG and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe as a gift. He first chose New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, but changed his mind and eventually chose Super Mario RPG. Unsure what he'll do, he played the game and recorded it on his phone, creating his very own Let's Plays, which he called it POW Plays, in which he began doing so in January 20, 2024. He finished the game in March 18, 2024, but the ending has made him tear up and remember the game for the rest of the year. In fact, his stream of the World Chess Championship were themed around Super Mario RPG, such as the battle transition, representing Star Pieces as points earned on two of the players, and soundtracks from the game, with a different soundtrack after another, as if the World Championship was like a Mario RPG adventure.

On May 2024, he got Super Mario Bros. Wonder as a gift from his sister after completing his Junior High School academics. Then, beginning June 1, he started the game for the first time. Notably, he was close to beating one of the courses in Fluff-Puff Peaks, but instead fell and got the Game Over. He finished the story on July 5, but he didn't stop there. On August 23, he went on to complete the game, notably trying hard to beat The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon for over four hours.

After fully completing Super Mario Bros. Wonder, he went on another break. At that time, he was thinking of what should he get next between Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and a new Mario Party game, Super Mario Party Jamboree. Thinking he would get Jamboree, he prioritized saving up the game and to avoid long wait, he played his unfinished game, Super Mario Sunshine via Super Mario 3D All-Stars. And so, he begun playing the game, but he kept it secret until October 26, 2024. However, the World Chess Championship has conflicted his gameplay schedule, and so, he temporarily paused his gameplay to focus on his World Championship stream. He returned on his regular gameplay schedule after the World Championship ended. Notably, he struggles mostly on The Manta Storm for several nights, and so he asked for his good friend NinStarRose for some tips, where he eventually beat the episode. He finished the game on December 31, 2024, just a few hours before 2025 arrived.

On May 3, 2025, he started playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door after getting Super Mario Party Jamboree a few months earlier. He chose the said date, as it was intended to coincide with his sister's wedding. Additionally, this was planned since October 2024, even before he begun playing Super Mario Sunshine. He ended up finally beating Shadow Queen on August 8, 2025, and the ending of the game was memorable for him.

Kadayawan x Super Mario

Paul is a huge fan on his city's festival, the Kadayawan Festival. In 2018, he realized that the festival and the Super Mario Bros. share the same number of years, though the festival began in 1986, supposedly connecting it with The Legend of Zelda series, but he said it's already "too late".

During the 35th edition in 2020 that is held digitally due to the pandemic, he got to realize that he was actually right, with the same year of Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary celebration. In 2022, when the festival returned normally, he made a parody just for himself of a festival's teaser while the title screen of Mario Party is playing in the background. The next year, another teaser was made and played the title screen of Mario Party 2 in the background of his parody teaser. Both of his parodies are never shared online, as he had no plans to do so.

On June 2024, a Nintendo Direct presentation happened. One of the games announced were Super Mario Party Jamboree, where he mentioned "This. Is. HISTORY!" Two months later, the 39th edition of the festival begun. This time, he did not just included Mario Party 3, he also included Super Mario Party Jamboree after he is hyped on the upcoming game's release. At the end of the festival, where the festival said "The grandest festival of the year has come to a close!"[3], he then said on a personal shared post, "But don't fret, as #SuperMarioPartyJamboree will continue the kada[4] craze when October arrives!" When October arrived, he has seen numerous YouTube ads about Super Mario Party Jamboree, and he loved it very much. There, he created parodies for himself where the festival's theme song[5] is played in the background on a Jamboree ad. He also made a parody of a city's mayor inviting on Mario Jamboree, but he didn't change the lines; instead keeping the original quotes of the festival. During the release date, he made a Mario Jamboree trailer parody where it begins with four women from the city's pageant enjoying the sights of the city's nature and a one woman glued on taking selfies on her smartphone, where she eventually get to keep her smartphone. During the end of the eagle scene, he replaced the original ending saying, "Experience the FUN, Experience KADAYAWAN. August 2023" to an ending launch trailer of Mario Jamboree.[6] He also put the 39th Kadayawan logo after every Nintendo logo on his parody trailer. Since then, he made parodies of either Kadayawan teaser with a twist of Mario Jamboree or a Mario Jamboree trailer or ad with Kadayawan theme on the background.

On January 26, 2025, he got the game itself, and immediately went to the park that has the entrance themed around Kadayawan. There, he made a video of him getting the game, sent it to his friends, and they said "Paul got the game!" He launched the game for the first time in the said park and was very happy about it. He started with Toad's Item Factory, where despite levels getting harder, he managed to finish all ten stages. He also called Jamboree Buddy as Kadayawan Buddy, and Showdown Minigame as Kadayawan Minigame.

On April 2, 2025, another Nintendo Direct presentation for Nintendo Switch 2 happened, and it announced Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. There, he lived another hype and he was more excited when he learned that the release date will be on July 24, just a few weeks before Kadayawan Festival 2025.[7] Additionally, he nicknamed Jamboree TV as Kadayawan TV. He also mentioned that the Jamboree TV stage resembles Bantawan Amphitheater on the same park. Additionally, the official teaser was released at the same day as Jamboree TV launch day.

Prior to the festival's opening night on August 8, 2025, as he made his Kadayawan comeback in 7 years, he brought himself a Super Mario Party Jamboree game. Additionally, he invited one of the tribes of Kadayawan, the Obu-Manuvu tribe, and they accepted the invitation. They played some of the duel minigames like Fast Fishing, Stone-Eye Bowling, and All the Marbles. They also played a Gate Key-pers minigame, and won. His box art were signed by Hiyas sa Kadayawan 2024 (Gem of Kadayawan) Shane Marie Awe, Mutya ng Dabaw 2024 (Jewel of Davao) Hanna Maj Piccio, his favorite singer Maan Chua, in which he admired and always singing her songs while playing the game, among others.

During his countless visits in the tribal village, he also ended up inviting the Ata tribe to play selected minigames. They played Fast Fishing, Robo Arm Wrestle, Night Lights, and Pickax Dash.

Unfortunately, the festival did not celebrate its 40th edition despite 2025 being the 40th due to the festival needing to research when did the festival actually started. This sadly breaks the tradition of Kadayawan and Super Mario Bros. sharing the same number of years and milestones as they used to in 2015 and 2020 (Despite the 2020 edition was branded as "Kadayawan Digital Week 2020", it celebrated its 35th anniversary), which left Paul disappointed. With the festival branded as simply "Kadayawan 2025", this is the first time since 2010 that did not share the same milestone as Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary.

Araw ng Dabaw x MAR10 Day

When March 2025 arrived, his whole city was celebrating the foundation of the city known as Araw ng Dabaw (Davao Day). At the same time, he started listening and jamming the Mario Day song over and over while celebrating the city's event. There, he come to realize that MAR10 Day itself on March 10 lands at the same month with Araw ng Dabaw and made his own personal music video that has everything about Mario, but the music plays a theme song of the festival titled Dabawenyo Ko (I'm a Dabawenyo) and sings "M-A-R-I-O".[8] Also, he changed the theme "One Davao" with "One Mario" to relate on MAR10 Day.

On MAR10 Day itself, he always watches only Mario videos on most of social medias, then plays only Mario games on his Nintendo Switch. He also extended the celebration to March 11 to join in other folks in different timezones, as when the sun came up on March 11, tons of Mario posts are flooded on his social media feed. He even tells it as "the best day for Mario fans" as it feels coming Mario fans together to celebrate.

In Araw ng Dabaw, he was enjoying the festivities so much that he was featured on the highlights during the opening ceremony held on March 1, 2025.[9] Since then, he watched most of the events, including the parade. On March 9, 2025, he was also featured on the highlights of the city's beauty pageant, known as Mutya ng Dabaw, which is on the round of preliminaries. Additionally, he was wearing a Mario shirt from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which he got it back in 2023.

Duaw[10] Davao is an event that happened in his home city every June since 2024. It was made to help further promote the city's tourism with its vibe and spirit. However, during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 will release on June 5, 2025, which is under the month of Duaw Davao. On May 5, 2025, it was announced that the event will begin on June 5 as well, surprisingly coinciding with the console's release date. There, he unofficially called the 2025 edition as Nintendo Switch 2 Duaw Davao. Along with four original themes, he personally added one extra theme titled Duaw ta sa Nintendo Switch 2 (Visit Nintendo Switch 2).[11]

Despite Nintendo Switch 2 releasing 3 weeks later in Southeast Asia, he will still join the world on celebrating the release of Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. After Nintendo Today! was updated, his scheduled event from his smartphone's calendar were recognized by the app, aligning with Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, among others release day.

During the opening ceremony titled "Definitely Davao City: Duaw Davao 2025 Opening", his seat got upgraded to the reserved seats after getting recognized as a content creator. He hesitated, but he gladly accepted it. He was also invited on a photo opportunity, and he wore a shirt themed around The Super Mario Bros. Movie once again, with holding a printout of a screenshot of the end of the credits of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass, thanking the era of Mario Kart 8 that lasted for eleven years that came to an end.

During his quest on the event's crawl titled "Definitely Davao City: Kape ug Tsokolate Crawl" where everybody tries to collect either 15 stamps from the coffee shops or 10 stamps from the chocolate stamps. He relates to the stamps in Rainbow Galleria in Super Mario Party Jamboree. He completed it on June 18, 2025.

As the festival ended, he will remember this as the festival that coincidentally launched at the same day as Nintendo Switch 2. He then said "See you next year—ALL TOGETHER!", taking from the tagline of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Despite Duaw Davao already ended, he still sees Nintendo Switch 2 YouTube ads which makes him burst into laughter as he said that it supposed to show Jamboree TV ad for the Kadayawan Festival. Though, he connects the tagline of Nintendo Switch 2 and Duaw Davao as "All Together, Anytime, Anywhere. Definitely Davao City!"
