The 'Shroom Spotlight
Written by: RHG1951 (talk) and Technetium (talk)
Hello, all you readers of The 'Shroom, and welcome to Spotlight. Spotlight is a community project which aims to fix up the articles on the wiki which have issues. These issues can range from poor writing, to a lack of images, to even just needing a credible source.
February is the month of love in more than one way. With the recent release of Mario Tennis Fever, love can either come in the form of chocolates, flowers, or a complete curb stomp by the opposing team. Let's hope you gave the correct gifts! Baby Waluigi has also been officially unleashed upon the world. Before his existence tears this plane of reality asunder, we have a new batch of focuses for you to complete. But as always, let's go over the ones from last month.
Don't let the number on the to-do bar fool you, there was respectable progress made this last month. B700465189a9 (talk) created the article for Mari and Yoshi the SSM (talk) added the citation for Piranha Plants appearing from Kamek (item). While these were the only focuses that were formally marked as completed, there was progress made to some others. Sargent Deez (talk) added to "Peaches" and various users improved the coverage and added samples to 1-Up (sound effect), including B700465189a9, Scrooge200 (talk), Soshi The Yoshi (talk), Bel2004 (talk), PaoComOvo (talk), The Eggo55 (talk), Spencer PK (talk), and Wildgoosespeeder (talk). Sadly, no one took the opportunity to gossip about the Gossips and a version of File:DKCTF Snowmad group art.png without a watermark has yet to be found.
And now onto this month's focuses:
| Article | Category | Focuses |
|---|---|---|
| We've got ourselves a new task from Editor Joe of Game & Wario fame. We'd like to go and investigate, but we can't even build a case when we don't know who the suspects are. Don't let the case go cold and make a list of suspects found in the Shutter minigame. | ||
| Time to turn the tables on Poppy Kong and gather intelligence on her. Specifically, we're looking for information about her battles on the Freezer and Radiance Layers. | ||
| Ironically, the writing is not there on the wall for the Wall Lakitu, as the article currently lacks a list of its level appearances in the Yoshi games. Add them and you'll be inducted into the Spotlight's wall of fame (you'll be mentioned in the opening paragraphs of the next edition). | ||
| While the Cosmic Clones of Galaxy 2 don't look like Luigi while playing as him, they do inherit his animations. Show off these Mario-shaped clones performing Luigi's more unique movements like his running and triple jump. | ||
| Well, here's something we haven't seen on the Spotlight for a while. Put the "shrewd" back in "Shrewd Possessor" by relocating some of these bullet points to more appropriate areas. | ||
| Aside from an educated guess using the staff credits, is there a more concrete source that confirms Heidi Darschke voiced Ella? Take a swing at this, but be sure not to slice your shot. |
Now just before we leave you, we'd like to tell you about unimplemented proposals. There are currently 43 that need to be implemented, dating as far back as 2021, so think of this as a continuous Spotlight goal until they're all completed. Additionally, there are many unresolved discussions that we would love to see come to some sort of conclusion. Some might have already concluded and just need the template removed, others have been waiting for a response for years. There are also thousands of articles with unsourced foreign names. They are found within this category, so please help out and add sources for them.
Thanks for tuning in to the newest edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! Be sure to turn up next month, where we'll be reviewing the progress on the above focuses. If you have any questions or suggestions about this month's set of the article focuses, then please get in touch through the dedicated topic if you have a forum account. If not, then please contact us on either RHG's talk page or Technetium's talk page, but you are far more likely to get a quick response if you go through the forums. You are also welcome to make suggestions on what you think we could focus on in our next edition! Thank you, and good luck!
