Hello there, 'Shroom readers! It's now officially the 2026 term, although honestly it feels like it's been a while since the election already. Probably because we've already been doing some groundwork on things happening later this year behind the scenes... but that's not something we need to be concerned with just yet. We'll keep you posted!

The Poll Chairperson Election has begun! If you're interested in running the Poll Committee for the next year, the time has come. From what I hear, there's quite a bit of interest already, but don't let that stop you if you were on the fence about campaigning! Head on over to the election page to read the rules and get a campaign post up, or cast a vote for your favorite candidate starting February 28th.

Looking ahead on the calendar a bit, we'll be hosting another 'Shroomfest beginning with the release of the next issue! We got good feedback on last year's event, so it's about time we run another, I think. If you've never been part of a 'Shroomfest before, we'll have more info next month, or you can dig in the archives to see some of the previous rounds if you'd like. Hope to see you there!

Enjoy the issue!

What's going on everybody? WT and I are here to bring y'all another bountiful 'Shroom year! That's mainly because we were the only ones to run in the recent election... ah well, I'm not complaining! I love this position!

I also can't believe I'm 22 years old now. Do I feel any different from when I was 21? Not at all! Of the Birthday gifts I've received, two of them were Sonic Mania, a fantastic Sonic game, and Everybody 1-2 Switch!, the most underrated party game of all time. Everybody 1-2 Switch! is actually better than you'd think; I love the addition to play with your smartphone against 99 other people! My iPad is also usable for the game, although sadly I couldn't play the "Color Shoot" game... that's sad. I'll also say that "UFO" is absolutely horrendous to play using an iPad... don't do it. Your arms will thank you.

Between this issue and the previous one, a Paper Mario-inspired game released. Have you heard of Escape from Ever After? I saw my brother play through it when it came out, and WOW does it look fantastic! Thankfully, it played just as well as it looked - I reached 100% completion! I highly recommend it to those who want something similar to the first two Paper Mario games. Support indie devs! Aside from Escape from Ever After, there's a new DLC for Kingdom Rush Alliance set to release March 5! It's called "Dragon Wars" because dragons are involved, obviously! How will they top "Wukong's Journey", I wonder? Nothing is impossible...

Look everyone! We have exciting guest sections for you!

  • The Year of Waluigi has concluded, so now's the time for the Year of another character! Poor Diddy Kong had a minor role in the recent Donkey Kong Bananza, so Laurence Conway (AKA Letter Kong) begins the Year of Diddy Kong to help the simian sidekick. He's gonna be writing Diddy Kong sections all year, but to start things off, he discusses a 2.5 Platformer-Shooter named Diddy Kong Jungle Guerilla! Read all about it in the Game Corner in Fake News!
  • ClawgripFan9001 also brings us a Kong-related section for Palette Swap, titled Diddy Kong Country! Poor Diddy Kong's had it rough with barely any new starring roles across the, but 2026 provides an exciting adventure for all the Kongs! Check it out to see the start of a year-wide section!
  • I've created another Pipe Plaza pony section! This one is not about a specific character, but a comic I bought for one of my nieces as a Birthday present! Behold Pinkie Pie's Odyssey, whee I summarize the MLP interpretation of Homer's Odyssey!

Now then! I've kept you here long enough. Please read the 'Shroom issue now! You'll love it!
