Why are all of my articles deleted?

Hi. I've made about 20-30 articles and I didn't visit for 2 days. Now, every last one that I created is no where to be found. They were all under characters. Why did this happen? I know how to put them back, but it is a hassle. Thanks.

You're articles are not deleted. However, I did remove their links from the characters page because your articles were about generic enemies and species, not characters. A character refers to a singular person of group such as Mario of the Axem Rangers. You should add links to the pages you created to the Species page for a generic race (including enemies and friendly races), the Enemies page for generic enemies and evil characters, and the Allies page for helpful generic races and good characters. A noob here!

Im kinda new to SMW, but i know a lot of SM games. I made some items arcticles (degree cards) but i got edited. I think my arcticles were way more complete.

I just came here to help complete your database, but since arcticles are being "merciless edited" why would i bother in doing an arcticle that i know it will be edited by some guy who just wants to write his arcticle, deleting mine? its has little to no sense.

Hmmm... you're right, they don't tell you how on the Help:Signature page. They probably should. But I figured it out: since there's a page for your sig, you just put the small images there on the page. Pretty easy, eh? Just remember this: don't put the images inside the link . Hi, I'm Super Pie Man, and I'd like to know how to edit the TITLES of articles. It's quite annoying when you see that the name of something is pure conjecture and is not correct, but you can't do ANYTHING about it! Please help me out!

How to make the box things with linx in?

Banning Stubs (WTW?!)

Whose terrible idea was it to ban stubs?! Not only does it hurt the wiki, but it hurts anyone who comes to this wiki for information. hisak

Umm....except they don't add information. People come looking for info, and get nothing. But if there was no article, they might want to create a real one. Creating new stubs distracts from real work at the wiki. -- Son of Suns

Some of you have been creating one sentence pages, mainly around SPM. Others like the Fay article use FAQ/Archive 1 to simply look like the writer gave no effort in creating the page and copy & pasted it. My point is, if you don't know anything about an article (other than what game it appears in), don't create it at all. This drives away the attention on the red links and drives serious writers away. I mean no one wants to work on crappy pages, do they? Great Gonzo (confused write this)

It's okay - just don't do it again. =) We are having a tough time with stubs lately, as the quality of the wiki as a whole is being compromised. We are attempting to come up with a certain standard for any new article. An article that meets the minimum will be a stub. Larger articles that are very complete, but still missing information, will have the expand template. -- Son of Suns

Well, Welcome to the wiki, mostly only if you add false info or bad things, you get warned. But if you help the wiki by adding confirmed facts you'll do just well.

Taking scans from other web pages

I would like to write sometime about the Mario comics published exclusively in Germany (later also in Austria and Switzerland) and the German Club Nintendo magazine which contained the comics. But I have a question: There are good scans of them around the web, can I just save and upload them here according to the U.S. Fair Use law without asking the web page's owner - or do I have to make all these scans myself again? --Grandy02 13:51, 9 June 2007 (EDT)

You can pretty much take pictures from any website, unless the image is labeled as property of that web site. If there's nothing saying you can't use it then go ahead. Remember: those images are property of Nintendo, not that website, unless it is fan art.Knife (talk) 14:22, 9 June 2007 (EDT)

Well, almost. If an artist makes a comic and is licensed by Nintendo, the character is still owned by Nintendo, but the artwork itself belongs to the artist. Still, I don't think there would be a problem with using scans that every other Mario related site uses. --

If you're still online, you can do one thing: go to my preferences, enter your e-mail, and log off. Then you should be able to use the recover password option via the password will be sent to your e-mail account. Actually, I can definitely relate. When I first created my userpage a couple months ago, no one ever talked to me, and I felt like everyone had gotten together and said, "Let's not talk to CrystalYoshi." But then I had my first commenter, Super mario fan. He said I should leave comments on other users' talk pages, and they'd respond. I started doing that, and it worked for me, so I think that's what you should do. I actually got in a Mario debate with a certain user... for example, if you see someone who put a comment that you agree with, go to their userpage and see if there's anything you like about it. Then talk to them. If you say something nice to them, they'll probably like it and compliment you back. Crystal Yoshi

Uploading Pictures?

I have been making some articles and I need pictures to make them...complete. I want to upload them from Gamespot.com, but I don't know how! I've went to the uploading page, and I just don't get what I'm supposed to do! Could you please give me an example? PLEASE?! :(( -- Lemonface

You get the picture, save the file into your 'My Pictures' file then go to the upload page, click on browse, click the image you want to upload, it's code will then be in the top two rectangles then give a breif description of the picture, then give the licence e.g game screenshot, official artwork of a character, then click upload and its uploaded! Now you have to see if its a png, jpg etc, copy the file name then put it on the page and put internal links around it and your done! =D if you want to adjust the size, description etc. look at other pictures codes, copy and paste them next to your code, stick delete the code already there and put yours there instead and then start adjusting the settings. Side-by-side Userboxes

Okay, it's Lemonface again. I'm really hoping this is my last questions. On my user page, I have a lot of userboxes and I want more. The problem is that they take up a lot more room than they really need to. I've seen on some user pages that their userboxes are side-by-side, kind of like this:

You save the picture you like to your computer. Then you bring it up in a program like Ulead PhotoImpact or some kind of image-altering program. Once you customize it the way you like, all you have to do is upload it to this site and put it on the page you want. But if you're going to alter a picture, it isn't going to be accurate so it should probably stay on your user page or on the Fake News section of "The 'Shroom". — Stoo ben Roo ben

That's a good question. Instruction books as well as player's guides usually have enemies' names. You can also type in Google "list of enemies in Super Mario Bros. 3" for example, as well as any other game. — Stoo ben Roo ben Hope that helps.

I know how you feel. It was hard for me in the beginning too. If you want some advice on starting new articles, I'd recommend doing them on minor things. A lot of little things from Diddy Kong Racing DS isn't on this site. — Stoo ben Roo ben I hope that helps.

How do you make an SPM enemy template?

I am workin' on my userpage, and I want to make an SPM/PM:TTYD enemy template I've seen on other people's userpages with their own "stats". I'd like to make one, but I can't find the template. Can someone help? Thanx. Anti Dude

Or just go to a normal page with the template, click on Edit for the appropriate section and copy the template syntax from there, paste it on your page and switch the real stuff with your stats. Create a page with the name of the desired redirect name (e.g. if you wish to have "K. Rool" redirecting to "King K. Rool", create a page "K. Rool"). Then type in #REDIRECT [[xxx]], nothing else, and replace xxx with the actual page title, e.g. King K. Rool. Time Questions 17:21, 9 April 2008 (EDT)

Minor Edit?

When's it appropriate to make an edit a "minor" edit (by clicking the "This is a Minor Edit" box)? I try and use it for fixing typos and very minor spelling/grammar things, like adding semicolons or whatever, but I was wondering if there's any solid guidelines about it.

And speaking of typos, these two are in the "How do I Upload" section:

Help:Editing tells you when to use minor edits. Go down to the "minor edits" heading. And, uh, sysops can edit this page to fix mistakes.

You have to lower down the image's size with px, so when you edit your sig and place the image in, have the code down as: [[Image:PMTTYD Curious Mario Artwork.png|33px]], and voila!

On MarioWiki:Userboxes, you shall see the userboxes and codes. If the page comes up correctly that it shows the box on one side and the code on the other, than here's what you do: Copy the code of the desired userbox, head to your userpage; somewhere, type in {{userboxtop}}, paste the code below that, and then at the bottom, add {{userboxbottom}}, and voila! TWO questions

1. Why can't I edit the Mario page? I want to add Wario under interactions with other characters.

For the first question, I'm pretty sure it's because you're still new here: if memory serves, the major pages are protected from edits by new users in case they are just trolls or spammers looking for high-profile targets. After a couple weeks you should be able to edit Mario. And for #2, you can just cut and paste the picture within the edit box (control c for PCs and apple c for Macs to cut, ctrl v or apple v to paste). Just look for something like [[Image:example1.PNG]] (though they're usually more complex, like [[Image:example2.PNG|thumb|right|An '''example''' of an image's coding in the edit box.]]) in the edit box, since those are the images. How come some times when I type, my words are in these dotted frames. All I do is just type words, not adding templetes or anything --Nerdy Gu y (I think it happend to someone one on higher up on the page)

Trouble with the forums...

I tried logging on to the MarioWiki Forums, but it kept telling me that "an error had occurred" due to not answeing the anti-bot puzzle. However, all of those times, i did fill it in, with the number 13, since the question was "11 + 5 - 3 =", and the answer was 13 indeed. I believe you use this coding:

Replace the Xs and Ys with names, and add actual info. You can include as many images as you want, but remember that you can only upload 4 personal images - the rest have to be used on mainspace articles as well. I hope that answers your question. - Walk azo 00:39, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Also, if you make an actual signature that contains your links and images, you'll only have to sign with "~~~~", and your sig will automatically be included on the page. There's more information about making signatures on Help:Signature (which was linked to on that {{Welcome}} template you keep removing from your talk page), but I'll tell you now, you're only allowed one image in your sig, so I'm afraid you'll have to choose between your two Luigi pics.
