Giant cannons[1] are mega-sized cannons that fire giant cannonballs. They appear in Super Mario Bros. 3, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and New Super Mario Bros. U as large horizontal cannons that resemble dark pipes; however, in Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker 2, they are redesigned and can also face diagonally.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, these cannons appear in World 8-Tank and World 8-Ship. In Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3's World-e, they also appear in Bowser's Airship 1 and Bowser's Airship 2.

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, giant cannons appear in World 8-Airship. In New Super Mario Bros. U, they appear in The Mighty Cannonship, as well as the challenge called Bowser's Airship Sneak.

In the Super Mario Maker games, the giant cannonballs shot by giant cannons no longer move at an inherently faster speed than their regular-sized counterparts. This functionality has been moved to red cannons, which can be regular or giant-sized.
