100m is an event in the Wii U version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It is set at the Joao Havelange Olympic Stadium (now the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium). The objective is to race to the finish against eight other opponents and to get first place. The event's guest star is Nabbit.
Gameplay[edit]
In this event, the player races against eight other opponents. At the start of the event, the player can rapidly tap or
to build up power. When this happens, an aura surrounds the player which turns from blue to yellow to red the more the player taps
or
. Once the announcer says "Go!", the player can press
or
to start running. The player will get a speed boost depending on how much power they built up at the start. If the player does not press
or
in time, they will start running automatically at a slower pace. If the player presses
or
before the announcer says "Go!", they will not receive a speed boost and stumble before starting the race. If the player continues to press
or
repeatedly while running, they will build up power, making an aura surround the player which turns from blue to yellow to red the more the player builds up power. When the aura turns red, the player can activate their Super Dash by pressing
or
, which will dash the player forward. The race ends once the player crosses the finish line. The ranking is then determined based on the order the participants crossed the finish line.
