Some locations where the enemy has been sighted include Chapter 1-3, Chapter 1-4, Chapter 2-2, Chapter 3-4, Chapter 4-2, Chapter 5-1, and Chapter 5-2. It is very possible it could appear randomly on other chapters as well.

Megabites are evil skulls that appear in Super Paper Mario, and can be found in various locations. Their waving purple tails give them a vaguely fish-like appearance. Their name is both a pun and portmanteau of "megabyte", a measurement in computing, and "bite".

Description[edit]

In at least one stage within each world, if the player remains in certain areas too long, the game will play an eerie sound cue after 3 to 5 minutes and a Megabite will spawn. They only spawn once per level, and leaving the area won't make them be able to spawn again.

They swoop down from the sky at the player, dealing 1 damage with each hit. Megabites have 4 HP, and will only take 1 damage per hit from any attack.

If the player does not defeat a Megabite after about seven swoops, they will eventually flee without leaving any reward. Megabites appear in the following areas:

Megabites have a chance of dropping items such as a Shooting Star, a Thunder Rage, or, more rarely, a Catch Card SP upon defeat, as well as lots of coins.

Megabites won't spawn if Mario or the other characters are in an elevated area. However, once the player leaves and comes to the ground, a Megabite immediately spawns, if enough time had passed.
