Diddy Kong Pilot was going to be a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing, but with flying as the only means of transport. However, it ended up canceled. After its cancellation and after Rare was acquired by Microsoft, Diddy Kong Pilot was converted into the game Banjo-Pilot. Characters confirmed to appear in the game were Krunch, Dixie Kong, Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, King K. Rool, Cranky Kong and an unnamed, new Kong who resembled a stereotypical hillbilly.
It is unknown if all the characters featured in Diddy Kong Racing would return in Diddy Kong Pilot. Diddy Kong Pilot would have been Rare's first game on the Game Boy Advance had it not been canceled.
