Image uploads[edit]

Hello, Jigglypuff. Good job on your recent uploads. But when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the aboutfile template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded coding is shown below.

|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line of the variable(s) you don't use. If you do not wish to use the template at all, then it is acceptable to simply remove it before you upload the file. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using aboutfile incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, Jigglypuff. Good job on your recent uploads. But when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It is simple to learn how to correctly do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/Video Files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category with square brackets, and insert it into the summary text box (below the aboutfile template), replacing the uncategorized template entirely. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind some files can belong to multiple categories. Don't put images into media categories and vise-versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Just some things to keep in mind. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:32, 26 October 2017 (EDT)

Thanks! I'm helping out with the Mario Golf World Tour DLC Courses Layer-Cake Desert I'm getting these done now before Miiverse Closes. I'm also planning on helping out on Rock-Candy Mines Once I'm done with Layer-Cake Desert, although I need some help making the chart so I can get to work on Rock-Candy Mines. Jigglypuff (talk) 19:53, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
Just to be clear, you need to remove the parts that say "Subject of the image", "Where you found the image" etc. and replace uncategorized with the Category:Mario Golf: World Tour Images category. So it should be something like this:
|1=Hole 16 of Layer-Cake Desert in Mario Golf: World Tour.

Zero Suit Samus pose SMM.png Mario JC 20:03, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
I'll make sure to be aware of that when adding images to Rock-Candy Mines. I'll remember to avoid this mistake. Jigglypuff (talk) 20:09, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
You're still forgetting to categorize the images with . LuigiMaster123Icon.png LuigiMaster123 20:33, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
If I am, I may need some help then.. Jigglypuff (talk) 20:35, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
Shouldn't be too hard. Follow the blue box. Since they are for a game, see Category:Images by game. You can insert in the summary box of Special:Upload. Use copy (ctrl+c) and paste (ctrl+v) for a shortcut of mass uploading. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:14, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
I've tried that, and the Uncategorized Message is still present. Am I missing an extra step? Jigglypuff (talk) 06:38, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
Uncategorized can be removed by yourself while uploading the images, if you have already added the category. --FlameChompNSMBW.pngTheFlameChomp (talk) 06:47, 27 October 2017 (EDT)

Copy the information below exactly, replace the default image text with it, and adjust what you need to for the hole number and location.

Summary
|1=Hole 7 of Mountain Course in Mario Golf: World Tour

Licensing
Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:34, 27 October 2017 (EDT)

Maybe do the licensing separately. It's adding two of the same template :P Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:49, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
I noticed, You told me to copy the information and that's what I did. I can fix it. Jigglypuff (talk) 18:51, 27 October 2017 (EDT)

I also have a Question, so since Miiverse has closed down, is it okay if I take upload images taken from my Phone? (I have an iPhone 4, so the quality shouldn't be too bad) I don't own any type of capture Card and I'm not even thinking about Downloading any of my Miiverse Posts because I think They say that just to make us feel a little better about the Miiverse closure, so I was wondering if I could upload images taken by my Phone. I promise I will only take photos of any articles that need images, nothing else other than gameplay. Jigglypuff (talk) 10:56, 29 December 2017 (EST)

Taking screenshots with a physical camera is generally a bad idea because the quality is not as good and the file size is extremely large, so it is best to avoid it as much as possible, but I don't know if it is allowed in this case. I recommend asking on Wildgoosespeeder (talk)'s talk page for more info. --Super Mario Fan 67 (TCS) 11:23, 29 December 2017 (EST)
Is that DeviantArt account also yours? If so, it is still possible to upload screenshots from a Wii U. See here, as this method doesn't use Miiverse at all. It's not a very well known feature. Then you can just overwrite File:Mario Golf Eagle.jpg and things are better. It can still get better than that, as using Project64 with angrylion would yield optimal results. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 11:40, 29 December 2017 (EST)
I think he's trying to get screenshots of the 3DS though. Maybe not, I thought it was Mario Golf: World Tour at first, but it looks like the N64 one, nevermind. --Super Mario Fan 67 (TCS) 11:43, 29 December 2017 (EST)
Even if it wasn't the N64 game only on Wii U Virtual Console, only the New Nintendo 3DS can do that browser thing like the Wii U. The older models can't. However, I do have a high quality method for 3DS games submitting PNG images. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 11:54, 29 December 2017 (EST)
And I got the image replaced. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 12:46, 30 December 2017 (EST)

Yes, I own the DeviantArt account. I've been on DeviantArt ever sence I was at the age of 14 to be exact. I still use that account, I just rarely touch it because of School, but I've been active ever since I've been doing ROBLOX Screenshots, which I'm lucky enough that they didn't mind at all. Also I'm all done with the Mario Golf: World Tour screenshots. I've been posting screenshots on Miiverse to help out the last 9 holes for Layer-Cake Desert (golf course) that when I visited, it was missing those images. and finishing up Rock-Candy Mines (golf course) since it was lacking the table of holes. Jigglypuff (talk) 15:44, 30 December 2017 (EST)

I had a feeling you might wanted to fill in Mario Golf (Nintendo 64)#Scores with images, so I just did that. I had to use GameShark cheats to get the conditions met. It's the best I can do. Other than that, I hope my Wii U and 3DS screenshot submission advice post Miiverse shut-down has been helpful. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 13:23, 31 December 2017 (EST)
What about Capture Cards? Do you not own one? I don't own one either... Jigglypuff (talk) 14:53, 31 December 2017 (EST)
Those RCA cables (analog) I don't recommend capturing from, as Alex95 (talk) can tell you from experience. HDMI, that's allowable for clean capture because it is digital. Analog will always have some degradation. Digital, most likely no. Just be aware of ghosting or screen tearing, no matter where you are capturing from. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:07, 31 December 2017 (EST)

Please do not delete discussions.[edit]

Hi. You deleted your comments on Talk:Rock-Candy Mines (golf course). Please know that discussions remain on talk pages permanently around here, whether or not they are resolved. The only exceptions to this are forum talk (discussions that have nothing to do with improving the article, e.g. "What's your favorite Mario game?") and spamming. Thanks and keep contributing!
Ultimate Mr L sig.png Ultimate Mr. L (Talk-Contribs-Stats) 21:26, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

It was actually for a good purpose, I wanted someone to make a table, but no one wanted to help. Jigglypuff (talk) 21:45, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
Still not a good excuse. What if someone suddenly wanted to help? (Sorry, I can't remember where I got the info for Mountain Course, but I think you can search for it somehow. It's not too far away, from what I remember.) Toadette icon CTTT.png50f8251049c8d706f759e9fbda6d4948.png 22:25, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
It's not an excuse, I already got the Rock-Candy Mines Golf Course done by adding the table. Plus yesterday, I asked for this situation on the chat, no one replied to me. Jigglypuff (talk) 23:02, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
Still against the rules. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:06, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
How come? I kind of find it a little ridiculous. Jigglypuff (talk) 23:09, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
Son, just don't, okay? If you find the rules a little ridiculous, then now is not the time to talk about it. Let's just stop the discussion and remember, don't delete any discussions, no matter what. It doesn't matter what reason you have, just don't do it. If you've got a problem, then talk to one of us and we can help you with it, but son, just don't push it. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:17, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
I'm asking why is it a rule. If I had help I wouldn't have deleted my discussion because I had no idea it was a rule. Jigglypuff (talk) 23:32, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
sigh...Why do you think it is a rule? Seriously, come on now. Why would it not be a rule? Come on, bro, it's a rule for a reason, do you really need to know why it is? Well, now you know it is a rule, so don't break it next time. Now let's just stop, okay? I've told you everything you need to know. I don't want this discussion to go on any further and spiral out of control. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:36, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
I'm a new user, and was an autoconfirmed user on Tuesday and no one gave me a rule book or link to look at. Jigglypuff (talk) 23:43, 28 October 2017 (EDT)
...Okay, then. I get that. Well, in either case, now you know. If you want to know some of the rules, then have I got some pages for you to look that. I'll get them up here in a second, so stay tuned. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:47, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

MarioWiki:Blocking policy--This is the blocking policy, and it details all the punishments and whatnot for anyone who tries to interfere on the wiki. Don't be offended by this, it is just trying to tell you the rules and just the policy.

MarioWiki:Proposals--The header of the page lists off the rules for proposals. You can read that whenever you want.

MarioWiki:Maintenance--One of the most important pages, it outlines the overall tasks and jobs that everyone has on the wiki and what to do to help keep everything up-to-date and top-notch. You can find it on the sidebar in the navigation tab, just above the recent changes link.

MarioWiki:About--This is technically the introduction for newcomers on the wiki, so be sure to check this out if you have not yet done that.

MarioWiki:Courtesy--This page talks about how to maintain stability and order on the wiki by being nice to others and always assuming good faith in every edit, and it also talks about what is considered respectful and what is considered to be disrespectful.

MarioWiki:Don't shoot your foot off--This article basically talks about not being nitpicky to the last micron. Telling people that "there's no rule against it" as an excuse will only give you a recipe for disaster. We can't list every single last little thing on the wiki, so when the general public on the wiki considers something to be rude, offensive, and disrespectful, you might as well treat it like it is a rule, because it might as well be.

I hope that all this stuff helps you in the long run, because you're gonna need it. You better not complain that "I didn't know there was a rule against it", because I've got a good chunk of stuff here for you to look at if you ever need help. If you have a question that is not answered on these pages, then you can come ask one of us users, and we will help you out. Does that sound good? I hope you get the idea. Good luck out there. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 00:02, 29 October 2017 (EDT)

As far as I can tell, while removing comments is not okay, this has been blown out of proportion. Jigglypuff was the only person who commented on the page, and they were able to answer their own question. If they wanted the talk page to be deleted, they could have very well marked it up. Removing comments is a no so as to keep records of conversations, but there was nothing really worth keeping, as they were the only one that said anything. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:37, 29 October 2017 (EDT)

If that was possible, what Ultimate Mr. L said once I have a discussion, it stays as a discussion, meaning they are permanent. Jigglypuff (talk) 00:43, 29 October 2017 (EDT)

I've never seen anyone resolve their own problem on a talk page and it's normally against the rules to delete discussions, so I thought it was against the rules. But I guess I was wrong. Alex95 is a patroller, so I think he knows what he talking about. I think he's trying to say that even if it was wrong to delete said comments, this discussion is making a bigger deal out of it than it should. Sorry for starting all of this.
Ultimate Mr L sig.png Ultimate Mr. L (Talk-Contribs-Stats) 10:52, 29 October 2017 (EDT)
All I know is I've marked a few pages for deletion that I started and ultimately deemed unnecessary, and they have been deleted, so I personally don't see anything wrong here. But, for future reference, comments that are part of a conversation (i.e. someone else has said something) shouldn't be deleted. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:29, 29 October 2017 (EDT)

Hi. Just a reminder that when naming game titles, they should be italicised. The formatting for that is two apostrophes before and after the name (so for Mario Golf: World Tour, it's Mario Golf: World Tour). Thanks and keep contributing. New stub[edit]

The page(s) you recently created (Peach's Castle (golf course)) has/have been put up for deletion, has been deleted, or turned into a redirect. This may be because it violated at least one of the policies and/or guidelines of the Super Mario Wiki. There are some things you can do to ensure this doesn't happen again.
 1. Make sure there is no other article about the same subject with a different title, especially for conjectural articles.
 2. Make sure the article has enough information to make it a worthwhile read (i.e. it does more than state the obvious, such as "Luigi's Mansion is a mansion that is owned by Luigi"). Overly short articles are known as stubs and their creation is strongly discouraged; it is better to amass enough information to make a solid article right off the bat instead.
 3. Make sure the article is significant enough in the Mario series to have its own article.

If the article has only been tagged to be deleted you can still fix or expand it, but an administrator may delete it at any time, so please act quickly. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing!

When creating an article, put as much effort and details. Or it'll be deleted. Alien Bunny Sprite.pngL151Onnanoko transparent WC98.png

Then how else am I supposed to improve the Wiki? There are still some stub pages I have created, and their still up. If an Article is a stub, there are users who can help. I'm unable to put in the images because Miiverse is down. Jigglypuff (talk) 09:58, 6 April 2018 (EDT)

You should read Manual of Style to understand article pages. For images, there are various way instead of Miiverse (e.g., search the web or find a video walkthrough a take a screenshot).

Is it using a Capture Card? I don't have one. I'm hoping to get one on my birthday that's happening this week on Monday. Jigglypuff (talk) 10:24, 6 April 2018 (EDT)

Until you obtain one, your options are as i mention above.

Re:Mistake Nintendo made?[edit]

To answer your question, while Heavy Para-Beetles are conceptually Big Para-Beetles, they're not the same as the standard ones that appear in the Super Mario Maker games. LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:33, July 4, 2019 (EDT)
