Director's Notes
Greetings, beautiful 'Shroom readers! Welcome into our August offices! Boy, that Awards Ceremony, amiright? I don't need to tell you to go read it, because you definitely have by now! If you haven't, consider it a personal request from me that you go do it, pronto. We'll be here when you get back, promise.
My brain is still notably soupy from last week, so I'll keep things brief this month. It's another set of the Fun Stuff standards, piping hot and ready to be served! For those of you currently swamped in the summer heat like me, I hope you're finding your own chance to cool off, mentally and literally. Take care of yourselves, and enjoy another month of games!

My word, it was quite the competitive podium last month! Congratulations to Ninja Squid (talk) and FunkyK38 (talk) for their shared first place, and further kudos extend to Hooded Pitohui (talk), Sparks (talk), and Waluigi Time (talk) for a staggering three-way tie for second! Anagrams
Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)
Hello all, welcome to the August issue of the 'Shroom! Before you proceed any further, if you have not yet done so, check out the Mario Awards for this year- that's not a request that's an order. You'd be missing out on some certified "oh le banger" presentations, and maybe a few hints to help you out with these anagrams! For those of you who are back, or did the sensible hing and checked them out already, your anagram reward for this month won't give you mushroom to manoeuvre as you fun guys get to solve some Mushroom-based anagrams! Everything from characters and items to beyond. Anyway, if you're already on the boards to check out the awards (or reread them), while you're there you can suggest a future anagram theme in a PM to me or you can drop it on my talk page, along with any funny anagrams you might find that you think I can make use of. Alright, time to be the champignon of anagrams, put your thinking caps on and button up on your unscrambling skills!
How it works...
Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!
1. A BOOM LAG
2. PURR HOMING MOSS
3. A SOUTH DOE
4. A GAP A BROOM
5. LOCKS O OHM
6. HURL MILD ROOMS
7. HAMS HOUR MODS
8. HELPERS OR PLUM ROOM
9. MOTOR SMASH
10. LEGAL BOOM
11. DEARLY DOT
Bonus anagram:
- Galoomba
- Spring Mushroom
- Toad House
- Paragoomba
- Shroomlock
- Drill Mushroom
- Dash Mushroom
- Propeller Mushroom
- Starshroom
- Goombella
- Dr. Toadley
Bonus anagram: Captain T. Ode
Word Search
You know what's a good game? The original Banjo Kazooie. Sure the completion requirements are ridiculous, needing like 90% of Jiggies and like 80% of all notes to get the final boss, and sure the final boss makes my heart sad because of how bad it is. But the game itself is just fun! Fun characters, fun levels, fun transformations (my personal favorite is Pumpkin). Just about every level in the game is fun, with the exception of Clanker's Cavern and Rusty Bucket Bay. It's just a quality 3D platformer, really one of the best on the Nintendo 64! So this month's Word Search is all about Banjo Kazooie. Words can be found vertically, horizontally, backwards, and inside other words. As always have fun and stay safe!
Crossword
Written by: MarioMorty (talk)
Welcome back to Crosswords everyone, brought to you from me, MarioMorty. On the docket today, I've gone to the Last Resort, and you're all coming too! That's right, today's intro is based off Luigi's Mansion 3. Take the time to fill out all the names of the boss ghosts in this haunting puzzle. And with that, I say goodbye. I'm still MarioMorty, and until next time!
Hiding Koopa
Written by: Waluigi Time (talk)
Can you believe it guys? After being announced basically at the start of the Switch's lifespan, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally kinda sorta almost exists a whole console later! Maybe by the time this issue goes up there will even be an actual release date. Anyway, you probably know what happens next - there's five Koopas hidden in this piece of artwork from the game. Good luck!
Thanks for playing! Did you find them all?
Pixel Personas
WAHOO! This issue of Pixel Personas is right after the Mario Wiki Awards! Are you ready to uncover these three characters? All of theme have something to do with partying!
Here's what it's about: Pixel Personas is a game played in three rounds. In each round, I'll show an image of a Super Mario character, but they're all pixelated! You (the readers) must analyze and identify who these characters are. Each round is tougher than the last, with more lesser-known characters and larger pixels, making it more difficult to tell who it is. After you make your guess, click/tap onhover over the card the image is on to flip it over and reveal the character!
Now... party time!
Round 1
Round 2
Round 3
Congratulations! Did you get all three characters right? No matter how you did, I hope you had a great time playing. See you next month!
Connections
Greetings, beautiful 'Shroom readers! Welcome back to another edition of Connections! My office has been in complete disarray since rushing out those Awards results! Want to help me clean things up by sorting these terms?
How it works:
Below is a table of sixteen different words, all of them with some sort of connection to the Mario series. These words correlate in sets of four, and it's up to you to figure out which words belong to a set! Work through the grid and decide which words are connected. Once you think you have the answer, check against the provided answers. If you get stuck along the way, feel free to utilize the clues. There's only one correct answer, so be on the lookout for words that feel like they might fit in more than one category. Good luck!
Big | Huge | Giant | Dodgy |
Wave | La Bamba | Chaos | September |
Blue | Alright | Green | Slow |
Blaze | Burn | Golden | Bingo |
First clue already? Gotta go fast, huh?
Start with "Burn"
Another clue?! But you've already had a bunch!
- Big, Wave, Chaos, Blaze: Sonic crossover characters
- Burn, Huge, Dodgy, Slow: status effects in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
- Giant, Blue, Green, Golden: ___ Banana
- La Bamba, September, Alright, Bingo: songs found in Donkey Konga
How did you do? Did you figure out the connections? Thanks for playing!
Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?
Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case!
You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case!
Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down.
Challenge round (optional):
-Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less
-Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help
“A new theft has occurred, gumshoe, and you’re on the case! Late last night, one of Carmen’s agents stole Poppy Kong’s special perfume bottle right out of her suitcase! Poppy featured her signature perfume in Donkey Kong Bananza, where it helped her turn invisible for a fight against Donkey Kong and Pauline. Now that she is no longer working under VoidCo.’s evil operations, she has been keeping the perfume a secret to everyone- but Carmen’s agents can dig through all secrets in pursuit of a score! I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that if Carmen gets her hands on this perfume and starts mass-producing it for her operation, we can kiss our chances of ever catching her goodbye! She’d have an army of invisible agents, just waiting to strike whenever she gives the signal! It’s imperative that you track down our thief, gumshoe, before the bottle reaches Carmen’s clutches! Let’s get to work!”

CASE CLOSED
HIDEOUT ANSWER:
Magma Mine from Mario Party 9
"Another case closed, gumshoe! He was quite quick when he wasn't fumbling around, but in the end, you were quicker. Another stellar job! We've taken our suspect into custody, and questioning will commence soon. He's a fairly elite agent, so I'm doubtful that we will get any useful information, but at least we can keep him behind bars and out of service for Carmen. As for the perfume, we have returned it to Poppy Kong, and she has decided to reward you with your very own bottle of super-stealth perfume! Make to use it for good only, gumshoe, or I'll be forced to confiscate it from you! She also tossed a few golden bananas your way as well- it seems like her new construction company is doing well in Ingot Isle. We've deposited them into your account. It's time to return to HQ and start on your report, gumshoe. We'll keep you up to date on your next case!"
Musical Quiz
Written by: Ninja Squid (talk)
Hello there, 'Shroom readers, and welcome to a new round of Musical Quiz!
This month is a pretty standard one for Musical Quiz, excluding any potential bickering with the 'Shroom Director. Instead, at this time of year, with Awards season behind us, it really feels like summer is coming to an end, and all those beautifully hot summer days too... As a lover of warmer weather, I try to maximize my enjoyment before colder times are upon us again. Man, I'm not ready to get my winter gear back out again.
...
Anyway, instead of hearing my lamentations over the end of my favorite season, let's turn our attention towards Musical Quiz. This month is a pretty standard one, with the usual rule about figuring out which game the following soundtracks come from. Pretty simple. Have fun!
