Image categories[edit]
|
Hello, DryBonesBandit. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file into a subject category. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, images related to the game Super Mario World would use: [[Category:Super Mario World images]]or one it its subcategories. Media files would use: [[Category:Super Mario World media files]] Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Also, when replacing an infobox image, try to find a different location to move the old image rather than removing it outright, otherwise it may end up unused.

Please remember to categorise your files. It can't be broad like "Images", it needs to be more specific based on where the image is from (e.g. "Super Mario Maker 2 images").

Italics[edit]
Hello, DryBonesBandit! Thanks for your contributions. When writing titles for media like games, films, TV shows, and publications, please remember to italicize them. This is done by placing two straight apostrophes (not quotation marks or curly apostrophes) on both sides of the title, or clicking on the I icon above the text box and typing out the title. For example, typing out ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'' generates Super Mario Bros.
If you are using a device that uses curly ("smart") punctuation, you may need to disable this function in your device's settings to be able to type out the correct apostrophes. |
Also, if you're getting models or sprites from the Models/Spriters Resource, it's preferred that you credit them in the summary.

JPG to PNG[edit]
Please avoid converting jpg images to png and applying transparency to them; this goes against our image use policy.

Re: The 'Shroom Application[edit]
Hey there! You can send me it on Discord if you'd like, but I will also accept it through a PM on the forums. Looking forward to what you have in store!

Thanks! Will send shortly!

Regarding your latest inquiry we're generally looking for the title of your section and where you'd like to see it, i.e "I want to write Game Corner in Fake News". If you don't know what team your section would belong in, or if you don't have a preference then we can handle it but we definitely need to know the name of your section. Thanks!

RE: Perfect Edition of the Great Mario Character Encyclopedia[edit]
That was due to concerns about the SMBE Encyclopedia still being in print and recent enough to be susceptible to copyright issues. Since the Perfect Encyclopedia has been long out of print, uploading the occasional manga strips should be fine.

New stub articles[edit]
One or more pages that you have recently created have been deleted or marked as a stub article. Please consider the following ideas and suggestions when expanding/creating an article:
|
If you have enough information on how the minigame plays, then an article can be created, but if it's only going to be one sentence already mentioned on the game page, that's not enough.
Mario JC 20:35, August 31, 2024 (EDT)
- Oh, didn't realize, sorry. I don't have too much information on the minigames, so making the articles was probably a mistake. If they are deleted, I'll wait until the game releases to make the articles. Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

The 'Shroom suggestion[edit]
I don't know if i'm in the right spot for this but I thought that maybe for the next issue you could wright a page on the Draglet? I really enjoy your pages on the 'Shroom and they're my favorite part of it! Golddude64 (talk) 14:30, March 17, 2025 (EDT)
- You are in the right place! Thank you for your compliments, and your suggestion is noted!

Names[edit]
I have a question. When, where and why was it decided that PRIMA took lower priority to Mario Portal in terms of names? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 21:01, March 26, 2025 (EDT)
- @PrincessPeachFan Hello. I'm not sure why you're asking me this, since I have only been around for two years and I don't know when it happened. However, I'm pretty sure it's because a Nintendo-hosted website such as the Mario Portal is run directly by Nintendo. I have no clue when.

DKB enemies![edit]
Hi! ^o^ Apologies for swiping the Antickoid page from you, I didn’t realize someone else had been working on one as well! I was also planning on making a page for the Molevoloid enemy but I see you have that in the works as well so I will gladly leave that to you. Just to let you know, I nabbed a screenshot of a Molevoloid made of Boom Rock (File:Boom Rock Molevoloid.png) that I was planning on using, but if you would like to add it to the gallery on your WIP page you are more than welcome to it! Again no pressure I just thought I would share in case you feel it would be a worthwhile addition :) Have a lovely day! -User:Okapii
- Sorry about the Molevoloid page, and no worries about Antickoid! Thank you for uploading the Boom Rock image, and I will use it! I wanted to create at least one article for a subject in Bananza, so glad I got Molevoloid done. Have a lovely day too!

Checkpoints[edit]
Where are the tuning forks definitely named "checkpoints"? In the Landfill Layer, the Li'l Eelevator in Trashtopia calls it a "tuning fork", and there's a sign in the Upper Pit near a wall that names them too (complete with the map checkmark icon next to it).
- Eelevator: "I found that tuning fork over there. ♪It sounds so, sooo pretty when it rings!♪"
- Sign: "If you ask nicely, they may also help you Teeleport to one of the tuning forks within the layer."
Mario JC 22:49, July 28, 2025 (EDT)
- @Mario jc Whenever you touch one, it shows "Checkpoint" directly on screen. The sign you mentioned I have not seen, though, and it is making me second guess my interpretation. I figured the L. Eel was describing what it generally was and not directly naming it, considering it is lowercased. I apologize if I made an error.

- It doesn't though, it says the checkpoint location's name and the only time it does say "Checkpoint" is the first tuning fork on Ingot Isle at the start of the game.
Mario JC 02:22, July 29, 2025 (EDT)
- I seem to have misremembered. Still, it does call that first one a Checkpoint when you make contact.

Stork & Yoshi's Island[edit]
Hi! You recently changed the first line of Stork's article to say its a supporting character in the Yoshi series. I feel this is incorrect, Stork makes no appearances in the Adventures of Yoshi games, only the Yoshi's Island ones. (which makes sense, the Stork is a plot device to get the non-antagonist babies into the plotline. Without them, there's no reason for the Stork to appear.) I think that even if the wiki is using Yoshi series for most of the concepts, anything specific to Yoshi's Island should keep displaying specifically "Yoshi's Island". This is more informative to readers and more accurate. Salmancer (talk) 11:42, August 15, 2025 (EDT)
- @Salmancer I would like to say that I’m not the one who made the edit; I fixed the user who did make the edit’s mistake with the piped link. You should probably talk to them about it. I was not asserting anything about the stork but only fixing another’s error.
- The stork does appear in Touch & Go, by the way.

RE: Theme of SMG2[edit]
I don't think the fact that it actually appears in a game first is reason to prioritise a screenshot from that game as the infobox image. What about a screenshot from the trailer with a caption? For example, Ballad of the Goddess (the main theme) from Skyward Sword is another theme that never actually plays in-game but rather plays in the trailers, and its Nintendo Music thumbnail uses a screenshot of the game's logo on a cloudy background (which I believe is from one of the trailers). An infobox image should at least be representative of the original theme and a Smash image isn't an ideal one in my opinion.
Mario JC 01:39, September 3, 2025 (EDT)
- That's fair.
