Greetings, beautiful 'Shroom readers! Welcome into the devious Fun Stuff Circus! That's right, my villainous agenda is to make everything in this community clown themed. The Awards Clown Car was only the beginning - soon, the Clown Empire will unleash its true power! Of course, all credits go to my wicked wardrobe manager, TPG (talk).

Dramatics aside, this special issue is happening at a pretty wild time in my life. I just graduated college this week, and at the time of writing, I'm only twelve hours out from leaving for my first trip abroad! Things are just go go go, but I'm thrilled for whatever the future holds. Wherever you are in your lives, I hope you're feeling the same excitement.

Wait wait sorry evil I'm eviiiil go look at our evil sections this month! Your expected standards are here, alongside a guest feature from Boo1268 (talk), where you can solve for the culprits behind some local crimes! It's well worth the read. And the most evil thing you could possibly do? Show our writers your appreciation by voting for them in Section of the Month, and naming your favorites in Poochy's Picks! There's nothing more frightful than giving heartfelt praise, I assure you.

Time to go check my luggage ninety times over to make sure I didn't miss anything! Take care, you bad lot, and happy Pride Month!!

Anagrams

Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)

Hello all, welcome to the June edition of anagrams! As is the theme for this month, the anagrams will be themed around notable villains from the Mario franchise- and as I was looking for others ways to be wicked, I've thrown in a few villain groups in there as well- nothing more evil than that though. Talking of things that are for the most part not evil (aside from naming and shaming some of the franchise's worst elements), don't forget to vote in the Mario Awards! And sign up for presentations! The wrath of the community coming after you for not doing that should scare you more than any evil thing will! For future months that don't have the theme sussed though, please feel free to send me suggestions and anagrams that I can incorporate on my talk page or in a PM to me on the forums. I think I'm finished monologuing for now, so I'll leave you to destroy these anagrams!

How it works...
Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!

1. BIKE KIT TRAIT

2. LEVELLY HANGER

3. PAPYRUS ANTIC

4. BUN CHORUS

Riddle Moves

Written by: Sentient freedom (talk)

Hello again, 'Shroom Readers, so what did you think of the new Pokémon game? To me, the fact that you can LITERALLY MUG Trainers is honestly what is selling me on the game. Today, looking further into the trailers, I also saw that the battles are now more akin to the anime, and I actually have seen the anime, so that's nice. But anyway, you didn't come here for a review on a Pokémon game that I haven't played, you came here for riddles, so let's go!

How it works:
Below will be a riddle relating to a random Pokémon move; the chosen move will not be a Z-Move, a Max move, any of the moves that are exclusive to the Starmobiles, or any of the two Tera moves. What you have to do is use the information provided by the riddle to piece together what the move may be. I will tell you the move's type, so you can think about it a bit more. Anyway, enough talking! Here's the riddle, let's see how sharp your knowledge is!

Type: Fairy

"My sound wave releases with utter joy and attractiveness. If you improve yourself, then prepare to be lost in the mind. What am I?"

Hint 1

Love is in the air, and too much of it can cause a mental interruption.

Hint 2

Attract, Temptation, and Charm - all three of these link to the Fairy-type. There is another, what is it?

Hint 3

What other sound-based move involves mental control by love?

Answer

Alluring Voice

So how did you do? Did you manage to get it right? Well, regardless, thanks for playing, and I will see you next month to test your move knowledge again.

Word Search

Written by: Shoey (talk)

As hopefully all of you know, I'm a big Pokémon fan. I have been since I was a kid, when Poké Mania started. I've never stopped loving Pokémon, even when bad things like Black & White or Sword & Shield came out. Pokémon probably have my favorite designs of really anything. That's why I've bought so many Pokémon finger puppets that adorn my entertainment center. So, this month's Word Search is all about Pokémon! Featuring 14 of my favorite Pokémon and one that I really don't like (can you guess which one it is???). This month words can be found horizontally, vertically, diagonally, inside other words, and backwards! As always have fun and stay safe!

Crossword

Written by: MarioMorty (talk)

Hello everyone, and welcome to Crosswords, brought to you, by me, MarioMorty. This villainous puzzle will focus on the Mario & Luigi franchise, something overflowing with evildoers and antagonists. While it may be a tad smaller than usual this issue, I have no doubt you'll have a good time with it. One more thing before I bow out for the month: to all the readers who have supported and solved these puzzles for the last four years, I thank you for keeping me motivated to not stop doing what I do. And with that, I bid adieu and will see all of you next month.

Hiding Koopa

Written by: Waluigi Time (talk)

Hello there, 'Shroom readers! It's villain time here at The 'Shroom, so naturally I had to pick a game with extra focus on the bad guys! I actually considered doing Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, but there's not a whole lot going on in that game's key art... Superstar Saga and Partners in Time had cooler boxart, just saying. So instead I decided to grab my favorite LEGO game, LEGO DC Super-Villains! This one has a really cool and expansive character creator, and if you know me then you know I love making characters. Unfortunately, they only limit you to twelve slots at once... Give me a LEGO game where the roster's a clean slate and I can make like a hundred guys!

I think I went on a tangent though. There's five Koopas hiding in this artwork from the game, find them!

Pixel Personas

Written by: Sparks (talk)

Welcome to Pixel Personas! To stay true to the Villains Special, I've decided to pixelate three troublemakers in the Mario franchise, Think you have what it takes to guess their true identities?

Here's what it's about: Pixel Personas is a game played in three rounds. In each round, I'll show an image of a Super Mario character, but they're all pixelated! You (the readers) must analyze and identify who these characters are. Each round is tougher than the last, with more lesser-known characters and larger pixels, making it more difficult to tell who it is. After you make your guess, click/tap onhover over the card the image is on to flip it over and reveal the character!

Ready to have some fun? I hope so! Let the first round commence!

Round 1

Round 2

Round 3

I bet it felt good to successfully identify these three bad guys, right? Next time I'll go back to having no theme in general. Thank you for playing!

Connections

Written by: Roserade (talk)

Greetings, beautiful 'Shroom readers! Welcome back to another edition of Connections! Some dastardly villain has come in and completely wrecked my office! While I track down the culprit, would you mind cleaning up the place?

How it works:
Below is a table of sixteen different words, all of them with some sort of connection to the Mario series. These words correlate in sets of four, and it's up to you to figure out which words belong to a set! Work through the grid and decide which words are connected. Once you think you have the answer, check against the provided answers. If you get stuck along the way, feel free to utilize the clues. There's only one correct answer, so be on the lookout for words that feel like they might fit in more than one category. Good luck!

Plasma Maestro Coin Succubus
Electro Joyful Watermelon Fanged
Big Devil Key Poison
Super Ample Star Shifty
Clue 1

Start with "Maestro"

Clue 2

I hope there aren't any messed-up movie outtakes in here...

Clue 3

My plane's having trouble, you see; I'll land right now.

Answer
  1. Maestro, Fanged, Devil, Shifty: words found in Paper Mario: The Origami King boss titles
  2. Electro, Big, Poison, Super: ___ Blooper
  3. Coin, Watermelon, Key, Star: items found in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
  4. Plasma, Succubus, Joyful, Ample: words ending with the same syllable as Mario & Luigi villain names (Antasma, Midbus, Fawful, Popple)

How did you do? Did you figure out the connections? Thanks for playing!

Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?

Written by: FunkyK38 (talk)

HOW TO PLAY

Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case!

You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case!

Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down.

Challenge round (optional):

-Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less

-Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help

Like taking candy from a baby! Despicable!

“Gumshoe, we’ve got an interesting development for you this time: Carmen herself has descended from her pedestal to snatch Bowser Jr.’s Switch 2 right out of his hands! Bowser is begging for your help as his son is throwing a legendary temper tantrum for his stolen console, but that’s not even the most interesting part: it seems as Carmen has run through all of her goodwill with any of the villains around here, and she is falling on hard times trying to escape with this bounty. And before you ask, gumshoe, yes, our suspicions are raised that this is just a ploy to distract us from the rest of her crew committing bigger crimes. Therefore, you’ll be on your own with a couple agents as backup while the rest of us focus on surveillance and tracking. That doesn’t mean you get to slack off! If we have a chance to nab Carmen here, I expect you to take it! Stealing toys from children might not be high on her list of priorities, but Carmen won’t hesitate to use it as a smokescreen to cover up other things she’d prefer we not know about. It’s time to get to work, gumshoe, before Bowser Jr. brings the walls down!”

CLUE 1

“She ran by, couldn’t stay, cap’n didn’t want her hanging around. Arrrr, she’s bad luck, that one.”

CLUE 2

CLUE 2

CLUE 3

“Why is this place always so packed? I can’t ever find a seat! I don’t have the money for VIP seating!”

Location 3

CORRECT ANSWER

CLUE 1

“Will this stage be the end of your journey or will you emerge victorious?”

CLUE 2

“This game has the lowest ESRB rating in the entire franchise.”

CLUE 3

“Gotta hand it to them, the ambience here is perfect for a final battle!”

CASE CLOSED

HIDEOUT ANSWER: Final Destination from Super Smash Bros. Luigi fighting Master Hand on Final Destination.

Stop the tears, the Switch 2 has switched sides!

“Excellent work, gumshoe. I know you didn’t have much support on this case, but you performed well under the pressure. Carmen left the Switch 2 on Final Destination, and Bowser was angry enough about it to meet us there and defeat Master Hand personally to get it back. Your backup managed to catch up with Carmen, shockingly enough, but as they were taking her into custody, she revealed herself as just one of the top henchmen, not the actual Carmen Sandiego. We’ve been hot on the trail of a few other leads, and your support with this red herring is much appreciated. Bowser sent you a reward, and we’re giving you a bonus for all of your good work. Don’t get discouraged, gumshoe, this is just a bump in the road. Get some rest and be ready for your next case!”

MWAHAHAHA EVIL SHALL RISE AGAIN!

Ahem, hello everyone, and welcome back to Musical Quiz! In keeping with the theme of the Summer Special, you're all getting a very evil edition of Musical Quiz. Oh, and I don't mean evil as in ridiculously hard (well, that depends on your knowledge of Mario franchise music I guess mwahaha!), but rather in the sense that all the music pieces you're getting this month are based around villains. Oh, I guess that's giving you a hint then, whoops!

Joking aside, the goal remains unchanged: try to figure out which game each piece of music below originates from. If you don't get all of them right... hehehe, maybe, just maybe, I will send a very evil trick your way. Mwahaha!

I guess I'm the real villain of this section this time. Fitting for a ninja, don't you think? ;-)

Criminal Case Files

Written by: Boo1268 (talk)

Greetings, cadets! My name is Sigmond the Antasman. Currently, I’m the head of the Magikoopa Magic Control Agency, or MMCA. Recently, I’ve been asked by the New Wikisburg Police Force to help sort through their old case files. However, the big man himself, Chief Palmer, discovered that all the files have gotten mixed up! Seems like there was an incident with an open window and a breeze. Now, I’m assigning all of YOU to sort through the files and find which suspect matches the crime. Think you can help us out?

How it works:
For each crime, there are three suspects. It’s your job to figure out which of the three is the guilty party. You’ll be provided the case file and a profile for each suspect. Thankfully, each of these suspects tend to have specific crimes they commit, or a particular way they go about their crimes. Linking them shouldn’t be too challenging, but if you need help, a hint will be provided. Now get cracking, cadet!

Case 1: Something Hairy
Sally Shell's Shiny Hair Salon, down on Main Street, turned out to be a backdoor company for shady dealings and illegal goods! When the business was busted, police found, among other things, a surplus of power-ups, coins, expensive fabrics, and explosives. After cracking open the case, police identified the head of the operation. Who might it be?
Suspects
The Gold Stingers A trio of sharp fellows, Thornsy, Shrapnel, and Shanker, working for a mysterious individual only known under the name Paul. Not much is known about these three, beyond the fact that their crimes are committed with a particular precision. They are known to commit crimes of petty theft, trespassing, and jailbreaking.
Monty Brando A powerful mafia head, working from the shadows to coordinate illicit weapons dealings. He has a network of informants and lackeys across the criminal underground. His work is conducted with a clear directive; he has little room for superfluous smuggling.
Terrakingpin An up-and-coming mafia head. Though interested in holding power, he is much more interested in the glitz and glamour of the job. Only the finest suits and silks will do. His crime family tends to enact pettier crimes, rather than the wide-sweeping conspiracies of other mafia undergrounds alongside having overdue movie rentals.
Hint

One of the illegal goods might be a strong indicator of who did the dealings.

Culprit

Terrakingpin
With his position as a mafia head, he was able to act as the head of operations. While Monty Brando could’ve done the same, he never would’ve bothered with the expensive fabrics. Those were smuggled for Terrakingpin’s suit!

Case 2: Gold Getters
A large sum of gold had been taken from the New Wikisburg Gold Bank! However, a few clues were discovered around the scene. Several smudges of a strange substance were left behind at the crime scene. Additionally, the criminal seemingly entered through a previously-undiscovered hole next to a piece of graffiti in the back alley. After cracking open the case, police identified the criminal responsible for the crime. Who could it be?
Suspects
Graphite Guy Real name James Dunwitty, Graphite Guy is all about get-rich-quick schemes and making a fast buck, no matter what he has to steal or who he has to cheat. His life of crime began when he was a passionate young art student. He became vengeful after being rejected by closed-minded critics and the art community for his unorthodox approach to art. Now, he forges old masterpieces and vandalizes using his special graffiti tags.
Bandwich This sticky but slippery criminal is obsessed with jelly sandwiches, so much so he never leaves a crime scene clean. He is known to cover up important evidence with strawberry jam. While he is seen as a small-time thug, his thievery skills are still considered a threat.
Carmen Sandiego This finicky female thief has been stealing objects for many years, but always manages to get away without a trace. Many haven’t gotten a clear vision of her, however it is said that she wears a red trench coat with a red wide brim hat. Her most notorious crimes consist of serial theft, burglary, and trespassing.
Hint

The smudges on the walls are made from a material only found in writing utensils.

Culprit

Graphite Guy
Wanting to make a BIG name for himself, Graphite Guy made a hole in the back wall of the bank and painted his signature graffiti tag by the entryway. Although smudges could’ve been left by Bandwich’s jelly, these crime scene smudges were simply graphite smears.

Case 3: Spam Email
Several small business owners reported having their personal data stolen by a mysterious individual promising them “Super Fit Big Business techniques for those who want to stay woke!” It was clear that whoever sent these was a tech expert. Upon doing a background check on these emails, police were able to determine who was sending them and arrest them. Can you determine who it was?
Suspects
Rook Beak This crooked cyborg crow has spent many years running an underground pod racing tournament to gain wealth. His technical know-how has kept his operations smooth. He's as sleazy as they come and he will backstab anyone to make a quick buck. Recently, he was arrested and put into prison.
Mr. Morris This corrupt business owner is CEO of Joja Mart and has been cited with committing crimes to snuff out his competition. Usually he skates by while utilizing some legal loophole, but we do keep a case file on him in case he does something rash and finds himself unable to talk himself out of his sentencing. His suspected crimes include extortion, blackmail, and unsafe business practices.
Sparky This sinister spark is obsessed with “Sigma Male” culture and being in it all the time. As an obnoxious independent agent, he has stacked up a number of hate crimes and plenty of unpaid taxes due to his investments in Bitcoin. In spite of this, he is able to maintain his lifestyle by committing crime as a somewhat decent hacker. The worst of his crimes include fraud, identity theft, and being cringe.
Hint

A creature that exists on a primitive island is to blame, but what he is really is shocking.

Culprit

Sparky
This Hot Head was unable to pay his taxes again due to his Bitcoin investments, so he decided to scam unsuspecting farmers out of their hard-earned cash. Even if Rook Beak could’ve done the hacking, only Sparky would use that kind of “woke” cover.

Case 4: Perplexing Purple
At Œufs et Saindoux, several individuals had been robbed! What made the crime strange was that many of them don't ever remember being robbed; all they could remember was a strange purple figure telling them to be “wowed and amazed” before placing something in their mouth. It was then they felt like they were in a type of trance. When they came to, their pockets were entirely empty! Thankfully, a Psychology expert was able to figure out who this criminal was based on these events. Could you figure out the criminal too?
Suspects
Mind Master This big-brained bad guy is obsessed with being the most intelligent being ever. His mind powers are so strong, he can control others with his mind, make objects float and much more. However, no one has seen him since his last encounter with Pyrokles and his crew.

Among others, his crimes include brainwashing and attempted murder.

Puppet Master This mysterious, malevolent ghost is a master manipulator who has the ability to perfectly imitate the deceased, as long as he has a puppet of them. His ultimate intentions are still unknown, as he was stopped by Shmaluigi before they became manifest. Thankfully, we haven't heard of him in some time thanks to his imprisonment in E Gadd’s laboratory.
Count Tyrannos Real name Bram Tyrannos, he is a supposedly vampiric Rex whose powers actually come from a stash of Vampire Candies. His interest in the macabre at one point brought him under the servitude of the ghostly Puppet Master. Alongside this, he is obsessed with acting like a real vampire - it is unknown as to why. His list of crimes consist of assault, robbery, and hypnotism.
Hint

How was it that the culprit began their hypnosis act?

Culprit

Count Tyrannos
Hoping to test out his hypnotic abilities, he hypnotised everyone in the restaurant and stole their money alongside their stockpiles of tomato sauce. While Mind Master would have been capable of this, it was the Vampire Candy Count Tyrannos put in his mouth that allowed him to conduct the crime.

Case 5: Cold Case
At the local jewelry store, several diamonds were stolen. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the security team frozen from liquid nitrogen! All the security guards could recount was that an individual came in. They described them as rounded and mainly wearing black, with some white. After a certain lightweight clue was found at the crime scene, police were able to crack the case. Can you crack it too?
Suspects
Feathers McGraw This feathered thief has been arrested and escaped prison multiple times for the theft of the Blue Diamond, among other gems and jewels. In addition, he's a MASTER of disguise, and has escaped arrest on multiple occasions. His cute appearances and blank stares cover up the truly diabolical plans he cooks up, all in the search for something shiny.
The Blizzman Real name Shawn Blizzman, he is a flashy snowman showman. His ultimate goal is to bring about worldwide global cooling, ushering in a new Ice Age in which he and his kind can freely thrive. He will do whatever it takes to achieve this goal, no matter who he freezes over.
Phineas J. Shoe A mad doctor whose list of crimes is as colorful as it is long. His incompetence and hubris usually keep him from being much of a serious threat. When he isn't wrangling fighters in an attempt to finally get a winner for Mushroom Kingdom Smackdown, he's usually working on a new invention of dubious utility to sell to the other villains of the kingdom. He is very much a threat in spite of his blundering nature; he always seems to get away.
Hint

This culprit was featured in an ad for the BBC’s Traitors game show.

Culprit

Feathers McGraw
Being obsessed with jewels and diamonds of many shapes and sizes, Feathers enacted a plan to freeze the guards and escape with the loot; however, Feathers left one of his feathers behind, leading to his imprisonment. While The Blizzman could’ve frozen the guards, the goal of the crime point right back to Feathers.

Case 6: Brutal Beat Down
At some point during Monday March 10 at 6:45, a police report came in that a Goomba had been left unconscious on the side of the street and was badly injured. After interviewing the victim, they reported feeling drained and having a wound around their neck. They believed they were attacked by a small- to medium-sized individual who escaped through a high window located on the warehouse near where they were found. The criminal made a quick escape, and though they seemed lucky in their retreat, the police soon identified who the culprit was. Can you identify them and finish up our case file sorting?
Suspects
Lucky Real name Larco Links Clover, he is a Koopeleon who possesses exceptionally good luck that grants him anything he desires and protects him from harm. While it seems like anything can and will go right for him, it seems his luck can only do so much, as he can still land in prison. It’s theorized that it’s only a matter of time until he breaks out again out of sheer luck.
Mozzie This bloated blood sucker is an urban Stingby that has his fair share of criminal counts for sucking the blood of his victims. Anybody who has their blood sucked reports feeling remarkably sluggish and weakened, their bodies a husk of what they used to be before. This habit has resulted in Mozzie’s bigger body overall, though this doesn’t stop him from escaping with his wings.
Zurg An unstable, deluded toy who fully believes that he is the "real" Emperor Zurg. Currently stranded in the Mushroom Kingdom, he is desperate to return to space and take his "rightful place" on the throne of his empire. He assigns his own nicknames to everyone he meets rather than using their real names. Despite his small size and the fact he's a toy, his ambition can lead to some serious trouble when he commits a crime.
Hint

The window would be too high to climb up to. How else could they have gotten up and away?

Culprit

Mozzie
The big blood sucker simply found a new victim to feast on and escaped out into the open window in a hurry. Using his wings made the attack a breeze!
