Type Showdown minigame

DK's Konga Line is a Showdown minigame in Super Mario Party Jamboree. It is centered around Donkey Kong and has four players trying to match his bongo rhythm. "Konga Line" is a pun on "Kong" and "conga line." Like other Showdown minigames, this minigame cannot be played in the Mario Party mode if Donkey Kong is an active player character, though he can still be used in this minigame in Minigame Bay modes.

IntroductionEdit

The four players walk onto the stage to their respective pair of bongos. Donkey Kong drops down from the trees and plays his bongos, indicating the start of the minigame.

GameplayEdit

In each alternating bar, Donkey Kong plays a particular rhythm with his bongos, and players have to replicate the same rhythm with their bongos in the next bar—as notated by the notes approaching the judgment circle of each player—in a call-and-response manner. When the notes coincide exactly with the judgment circle, players must press either   (or  ),   (or  ), or both at the right time. During the middle section, each player is given a quasi-ad libitum solo, where they must follow the rhythm as notated on screen without Donkey Kong's guidance.

Players receive two points for timing the beat perfectly, one point if they are too early or too late, and no points if they miss the beat entirely. There are 75 notes to be played, and the perfect score is 150 points.

In the Mario Party mode, the player who encountered Donkey Kong on the board first to trigger the minigame is given a more lenient timing wimdow, denoted with a larger judgment circle, as an advantage.

The player with the most points at the end wins the minigame and receives Donkey Kong as a Jamboree Buddy.

ControlsEdit

  •   (or  ) – Play left bongo
  •   (or  ) – Play right bongo

NotesEdit

  • If Toad, Toadette, Goomba, Shy Guy, or Spike are participating, they stand on log stools due to their height.
  • This is the only Showdown minigame where the Jamboree Buddy does not clap for the winner from the left; instead, Donkey Kong stays on the podium and claps for the winner from there.
    • This is also the only Showdown minigame to not use the "Show up for the Showdown" music; during the practice screen, the music that plays is a quieter arrangement of that used for the minigame itself.
