Cliffhangers is a 2-vs-2 minigame in Mario Party 4. Its name comes from a term referring to story endings with suspenseful situations without properly resolving them.
Introduction[edit]
The two teams are shown starting to climb up a snowy mountain, with the screen split to show each team.
Gameplay[edit]
Players must attempt to scale a cliff face while tied together. Along the way, strong winds attempt to blow them down. When the wind picks up, the player's controller rumbles (or a "!!" appears if the Rumble Feature is turned off). Players must hold on to the cliff face when the wind blows. If not, they get blown farther down the cliff. The first team to reach the top wins.
Ending[edit]
The scene changes to show the winners on the top of the mountain with their flag behind them. Both players do a victory dance.
Controls[edit]
- – Move
- – Hold on
In-game text[edit]
- Game Rules – "Don't let the snowy winds blow you off the face as you climb! Grab hold when the wind and the rumble start to pick up!"
- Advice – "If the Rumble Feature is set to OFF, a "!!" will appear when the wind picks up to tell you when to hold on."
