Image categories[edit]

Hey there. Nice job with the New Super Mario Bros. Wii images, but when uploading them, remember to always include the category for that game's images. In this case, for every NSMBWii image, you would include "[[Category:New Super Mario Bros. Wii Images]]" when you are uploading the image. Thanks. --- ThePremiumYoshi (talk)

Hey. Thanks! Oh sorry, but I forget that often. But thanks for sayin' it. Who's your favorite Mario character? My favorite is Bowser. Yes man (talk) 15:18, 16 March 2013 (EDT)
You're welcome! My favorite characters are Yoshi, Daisy and Bowser. I like all of them equally. --- ThePremiumYoshi (talk)
O, okay. I like them too. What's your favorite Mario game? My favorite games are New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Party DS and Mario Slam Basketball. And do you like Yes man (talk) 15:25, 16 March 2013 (EDT)
Hard to choose... My really favorite games are Donkey Kong 64 and all of the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, but I really like Super Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario World and pratically all of the spinoffs. And I am not really a fan of, lol. --- ThePremiumYoshi (talk)
You have much favorite games. The only ones of them I've played are Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario World (GameBoy Advance version), and that are nice games. From the Super Mario Galaxy-series I have SMG2, and I like that game very much! My favorite charcter in the game is, after Bowser, Bowser Junior and Yoshi, Lubba. Oh, pity. That Black Eyed Peas-rapper is one of my favorite artists. Did you know yesterday was his birthday? Do you like KFC? Yes man (talk) 15:41, 16 March 2013 (EDT)

Why? Yes man (talk) 11:48, 18 March 2013 (EDT)

Great job with uploading many sprites! Make sure you crop the sprites evenly (leave a one pixel margin around the sprite). Please keep that in mind when you're uploading sprites. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 20:01, 28 March 2013 (EDT)

I always crop them, but they're very small. So it is hard to crop them at the good way. Yes man (talk) 05:42, 29 March 2013 (EDT)
You can zoom in to the sprites so you can precisely crop them. But if you're having trouble, I'll fix the problem by reuploading your images, okay? Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:15, 5 April 2013 (EDT)
Thanks. That's okay. Yes man (talk) 15:29, 5 April 2013 (EDT)

You're welcome. :) Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:30, 5 April 2013 (EDT)

 :-) Yes man (talk) 15:31, 5 April 2013 (EDT)

Yeah, I can do it. You're uploading sprites, not pictures of models? Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 18:02, 7 April 2013 (EDT)

See, the problem with the "sprites" you're uploading is that they're not even sprites at all. They're models taken from a screenshot. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 18:04, 7 April 2013 (EDT)
That's right, but YoshiGo99 does the same. For example, see this picture:
NSMBW Fire Toads and Fire Mario Screenshot.png
And see these two pictures:
NSMBW Fire Blue Toad Render.pngFireyellowtoad.png
Do you know what I mean? Yes man (talk) 09:55, 8 April 2013 (EDT)

Yes, I know that YoshiGo does this, but my point is that they're not even sprites in the first place. Sprites are 2D images. When they move, they use a frame-by-frame motion. These are models, and models use bones to move, so you can't rip every single frame of a moving model. Anyway, I'll crop the images if you want. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 22:25, 8 April 2013 (EDT)

Yes, you're right, the images I upload of NSMBU, MGAT or SMG are models, but I call it sprites. I don't know why. Yes, can you do that for every bad quality sprite I upload? I think it won't be much. PS: Maybe this is a bad grammar, but I'm a Dutchman and I'm almost 13 years old. Yes man (talk) 14:20, 9 April 2013 (EDT)

Yeah, I can do that. And I can understand you perfectly. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 22:15, 9 April 2013 (EDT)

Thanks. Allright. Who's your favorite character? My favorite is Bowser. Yes man (talk) 08:00, 10 April 2013 (EDT)
Sure, I'll remove the backgrounds of the images. My favorite character is Bowser's worst enemy. :) Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 14:20, 13 April 2013 (EDT)
By the way, don't take stuff from artwork. Make sure the pictures you use are from screenshots instead. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 14:22, 13 April 2013 (EDT)
Thanks. So your favorite character is Mario. I like that Italian plumber too. But why did the pictures I use be from a screenshot? Yes man (talk) 08:29, 14 April 2013 (EDT)
I feel it's not needed to crop the image and make a separate image from that. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:50, 14 April 2013 (EDT)
Ok. Yes man (talk) 09:52, 15 April 2013 (EDT)

Yes, sure I can. I've been inactive for a while, so I apologize for that. School is piling on me.

Re: Mario Kills Tanooki[edit]

Actually I was just thinking about making a proposal for this. However, I have no knowledge of any Mario controversies other than Mario Party 8 one. Another point to consider is that Bulbapedia has one. Surely a large series such as the Mario series has enough significant controversies to qualify for an article? I wouldn't know how to begin a proposal for this either. GBAToad (talk) 11:34, 25 April 2013 (EDT)

Well, maybe we can start an article of this. Maybe other users know some Mario controversies. But do you hate PETA too? I really don't like them, 'cause I'm a big fan of Mario and KFC. Yes man (talk) 13:51, 25 April 2013 (EDT)
Alright, I'm sure there is enough finger-lickin' good quality information to form an article. I don't pay attention to PETA, they are hardly worth the time. Anyway, I'll try an propose an article or something when I get the time. Nice to meet you. GBAToad (talk) 04:25, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
Me too. Haha, "finger lickin' good" is one of the KFC slogans, just like "SoGood". Thanks. We can put Mario's appearences in the PETA-campaigns against KFC and McDonald's too. 'Cause there are some Mario-characters who appear in the game Super Chick Sisters (this game can be played at Nice to meet you too. Do you like KFC? It's my favorite restaurant. PETA most know Colonel Sanders was real, not just an icon or mascot. Yes man (talk) 10:32, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
OK! Well I'll get around to it soon. Don't mind KFC every once in a while :) (I rarely eat fast-food, but its nice of you to ask :D ). GBAToad (talk) 12:25, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
Ok. Thanks. Tell me when you've done it. Ok. PETA is really disrespectful, 'cause Colonel Sanders was real. Yes man (talk) 14:58, 26 April 2013 (EDT)

Re: Controversies[edit]

Sorry it has taken so long for me to reply. I'm trying to organize it now. It depends on where the article should be proposed, either in the forums or on the proposals page. Proposals about creating articles due to insufficient coverage on the Wiki will be removed unless there is discussion in the forums prior. Currently, I do not own a forum account, but the article will be created, eventually. Being Nintendo's flagship franchise, there is bound to be plenty to add to the article when it is up and running, so it shouldn't go unnoticed. Just need to follow the rules is all. Thank you for being patient. :) GBAToad (talk) 09:55, 30 April 2013 (EDT)

Ok. Thanks for saying it. Isn't PETA disrespectful to Colonel Sanders? Colonel Sanders, the eldery man in KFC's logo, was real. And at, PETA transformed him into a bloodthirsty chicken-murdrer. By the way, who's your favorite Mario-character. Mine is Bowser.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yes man (talk).
Iggy Koopa. But yeah, I won't go on about PETA. It is disrespectful, yes, but that makes it controversial and gives them attention. Anyway, try talking to me on the forums when I get an account, this conversation would be more suited for there. :) GBAToad (talk) 11:34, 30 April 2013 (EDT)
I like Iggy too, but my favorite Koopaling is Ludwig. You're right, the only thing where PETA's living for is attention. Sorry, I don't have an account on the forum. Yes man (talk) 11:56, 30 April 2013 (EDT)

New Super Chick Sisters[edit]

Hi !

I'm sorry but New Super Chick Sisters is not a Mario-related controversy. It's againt KFC and fast foods, not against Mario. This reference is already covered here. I have deleted your text in the controversy article; please don't re-add it. However, feel free to add it in the aformentionned references article :) Just reword the beginning and it should be fine.
Banon (talk · edits) 12:39, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

My bad. New Super Chick Sisters is the sequel of Super Chick Sisters
Banon (talk · edits) 12:44, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
Never mind. I did it.
Banon (talk · edits) 12:56, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
But Mario-characters appear in that games, and that games are based on the Mario games. Yes man (talk) 14:02, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
Maybe we can add it on the references on the web. Yes man (talk) 14:05, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

I agree but it's still not a controversy about any aspect of the Mario series. I think it should stay on the video game references article; the web one doesn't cover website, I think.
Banon (talk · edits) 17:32, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

Ok, I agree. But Super Chick Sisters can only be played at It was never for sale in stores. Excuse me when I talk English at the bad way, I'm a Dutchman. Yes man (talk) 12:48, 28 May 2013 (EDT)

No problem, I'm a Frenchman :p Yes it is a online Flash game, but it's still a video game in my opinion.
Banon (talk · edits) 14:59, 28 May 2013 (EDT)

Well, somebody moved the SCS, NSCS, and Mario kills tanooki subsections to the Web article. Maybe it belongs there after all.
Banon (talk · edits) 15:02, 28 May 2013 (EDT)
Yes, and that's just like what I wanted to do. Now, I'm going to add some pictures of the appearence of the Mario-characters in the games. Didn't you find PETA's campaign disrespectful to Colonel Sanders? He was a real person, and he died in 1980. Now, PETA changed him into a bloodthirsty chicken-murder behind the Colonel's back. Yes man (talk) 08:42, 29 May 2013 (EDT)

NSMBU Models[edit]

I am done with removing the transparency from the backgrounds. I'm sorry that I couldn't do it promptly. I have a lot of school-related things to do (it's the last year of high school for me, after all). Thanks.
Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 14:05, 7 June 2013 (EDT)

It doesn't matter. Thanks for removing the transparency from the background. I know how miserble school can be. I'm a first former at school now. In which city do you live? I live in Zwolle, a city in the Netherlands. Yes man (talk) 15:24, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
Oh, you hate school as well? School is agony for me. I live in the Los Angeles county in the United States. It's far away from where you live, just across the oceans.
Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:28, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
Yes, I hate it. But I have to do it for a better future. Los Angeles is quite big, and beautiful! I like that skyscrapers. It makes me sad they aren't in my city. Zwolle, the city where I live, has about 122.000 people. In the Netherlands, only cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht has got skyscrapers. And I like the United States too. It's my favorite country. Yes man (talk) 14:37, 13 June 2013 (EDT)

I don't live near skyscrapers (I live in a suburban setting), but I've seen them in L.A. downtown. They're scary, and I often wonder if they're going to collapse in an earthquake. I wonder what Zwolle looks like? I've bee to only one major European city, and that's Paris. As far as I know, I don't recall Paris having skyscrapers.

Okay. Do you live in a safe surburban setting? Zwolle is an old and safe city. This is a photo made in the center of Zwolle. I've been in Paris too. Paris has a few skyscrapers, but not much. In Puteaux, Nanterre and Courbevoie (three suburbs of Paris) is a business district called La Défense, and there are much skyscrapers. Yes man (talk) 08:47, 13 August 2013 (EDT)

I have the background removed, in case you were wondering. :) Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 20:06, 2 July 2013 (EDT)

Thanks. And yes, I was wondering. I tried to remove the background myself, but that was too hard. Yes man (talk) 14:49, 3 July 2013 (EDT)

Re: Sprites[edit]

Yes man (talk) 15:26, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
Trouwens, weet jij toevallig waarom deze letters nu roze zijn? Yes man (talk) 15:27, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
Yes man (talk) 05:06, 15 June 2013 (EDT)

We don't need a cropped version. The foot is cut off on the art, you see, and we have a rule about cropping sections of group artworks. We can wait until a higher resolution, official solo art is released.

Well, I removed the backgrounds of the pictures you uploaded.Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:49, 7 August 2013 (EDT)
All the backgrounds in the image are removed, except for that Mario jumping one from Galaxy. I couldn't get rid of the white background as easily, but anyway, I did get rid of the white stuff, but I hope that the image won't get reverted again. But, thanks for the neat images! I've never heard of any of those names, except for Queen; I hope I don't disappoint.
Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 19:19, 13 August 2013 (EDT)
Allright (2x). No? Don't you know The Black Eyed Peas (with, Fergie, & Taboo)? No, it don't disappoint. Do you like Queen? It's one of my favorite bands. And have you already seen my new sprites of Mario Party 9? Yes man (talk) 05:28, 14 August 2013 (EDT)
I haven't heard much of Queen's music, so I can't have an opinion. Also, I've seen some goodies you uploaded. Just give me some time.
Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 17:34, 21 August 2013 (EDT)

Excuse me, but what do you mean with that? Yes man (talk) 07:28, 1 August 2013 (EDT)
I thought that it may have been the problem you had here. Usually if you upload a new version of a file, it appears stretched because it's remembering the size of the older revision. And refreshing the page will help fix this. But never mind if this isn't an issue for you.
'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 07:49, 1 August 2013 (EDT)

You could always add transparent for sprites online easily if you want.

  1. Open this site
  2. Click "Choose File" and choose the file from your computer and hit Upload
  3. Click the tab "Wizards" and choose "Trans-parency" (word split into two lines)
  4. Change Fuzz Factor from 3% to 0%. Then click on the background (once you click somewhere it will be transparent. You may want to click in multiple places.
  5. Right click on the image and press "Copy image URL". Go upload the image and instead of uploading from your computer, you could select external image and paste the link.

Wing cap image[edit]

I hope you don't mind, but may File:WingCapSM64.PNG be reverted to the revision with the background? Removing the background wasn't done very well, and the model alone looks much less appealing without the actual background behind it. In future, if you wish to remove a background from a screenshot to separate the sprite/model, it would be better to upload it as a separate file instead, so we'd still have a screenshot available to display on articles. Thanks.

Why I did it.[edit]

I requested these images to be deleted because these are low-quality and poorly anti-aliased. Frankly, they don't look very good. I did keep some of them, but if you're able to get pictures of these characters from the better screenshots (such as the Tanooki Rosalina one), then they won't be deleted. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:14, 18 January 2014 (EST)

The picture is low quality and not really useful because of that. Unlike the Rosalina one, this one is really blurry and poorly antialiased (that means, it's cropped with ugly edges. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 21:10, 27 January 2014 (EST)

Models (NSMBU and SM3DW)[edit]

Sorry for late reply. The reason we deleted your New Super Mario Bros. U models is because the don't look good, they don't have the good quality like others such as this one

NSMBU Magmaargh Render.png

This also applies to 3D World. This one right here is also good.

Tanooki Rosalina.png

We want to see good models like the ones that are in NSMBW's gallery and SM3DL's gallery. In order to do something like that you would need to find high quality screenshots which I believe are 1280 x 720, make sure you crop off any things making the model like bad. But some models we got from the game's files but we were only able to do this with Gamecue and Wii games. NSMBU Fuzzy Artwork.pngYoshiGo99Yoshi Egg Tilted Artwork.png 09:39, 28 January 2014 (EST)

Okay. But how can I get better sprites for NSMBU en SM3DW? Yes man (talk) 12:41, 10 February 2014 (EST)
Sorry for butting in; as of now, it isn't highly important for us to get these images, so please don't fret if we lack good screenshots to crop out the characters. You have to take it from stuff like the crispest official Nintendo screenshots; other screenshots are too low quality to warrant cropping. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 13:56, 10 February 2014 (EST)
It doesn't matter. Allright, then. Thanks for your advice! Yes man (talk) 09:24, 12 February 2014 (EST)

Moving files[edit]

Hi. When you move a file please remember to update the links in mainspace as well as tagging the redirect for deletion. Thanks. Yoshi876 (talk)

Hi. That's okay. Yes man (talk) 14:08, 20 June 2014 (EDT)

White background[edit]

Sure, I can remove these. I'll do it shortly. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 19:03, 16 May 2014 (EDT)

By the way, Kentucky Fried Chicken is all right, but I prefer Chick-Fil-A. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 21:12, 16 May 2014 (EDT)
Thanks. I don't know Chick-Fill-A. I live in Zwolle, a city in the Netherlands, and you can't find Chick-Fill-A-restaurants in the Netherlands. But there are some KFC's in the Netherlands, but only in some cities with more than 45.000 people. Are there Chick-Fill-A restaurants in countries like Belgium, Germany, France or the UK? Yes man (talk) 07:23, 17 May 2014 (EDT)
Sure, I'll remove some of them. Chick-fil-A is an American branch, which I believe originated in the South. It probably didn't spread overseas like McDonalds, Coca-cola, or KFC, so there are probably no Chick-fil-A chains outside of the U.S. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 18:41, 19 June 2014 (EDT)
Allright, then. Okay. Yes man (talk) 14:02, 20 June 2014 (EDT)

A lot of Tanks[edit]

I like it how you're making white backgrounds of my uploads, thanks for undergoing that! BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 15:14, 17 April 2015 (EDT)

That's very nice to hear! Thanks for your compliment! And I'm gonna make much more white backgrounds. :-) Yes man (talk) 05:20, 18 April 2015 (EDT)
A little late here, but yeah, that was my identical twin sister. We were actually talking about removing the white background previously since it meshes better with the article, but it's great seeing someone else making the job easier. I'm sorry I can't remove the white background for ALL the images you've done, but I'll see what I can do. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:14, 22 June 2015 (EDT)
Okay, then. Thanks! :-) Yes man (talk) 09:17, 24 June 2015 (EDT)

i'll go around uploading it when the opportunity arises. thanks for pointing that out! BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 16:46, 6 June 2015 (EDT)

You could have just uploaded a new version of File:Mario Kart DS Itembox.png instead of creating a new entry File:ItemBoxMKDS.png because they are of the same MIME type (image/png). It makes things easier so that way we don't accidentally duplicate files and make sure to edit other pages. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:35, 16 May 2016 (EDT)

Kingdom Builder Sprites[edit]

Hey, Yes Man?

Could it be possible to rip sprites and stuff from the Kingdom Builder Mode of Super Mario Run?

I wanna see if it's possible. --LTIan (talk) 20:09, 1 February 2017 (EST)

Sure it is! Here's a blue Warp Pipe:
Do you like it? ;-) Yes man (talk) 14:23, 4 February 2017 (EST)

Yes, I do! :D Thank you very much! Can you get more like buildings and stuff? Could you also get the backgrounds from the Kingdom Builder Feature?

With enough sprites and stuff from the kingdom builder feature, we can officially have a Kingdom Builder article! :D --LTIan (talk) 01:48, 7 February 2017 (EST)

You're welcome, mate! I will see what I can do. I can only take sprites from screenshots with real good quality. Yes man (talk) 13:05, 7 February 2017 (EST)
I made a sprite section for your rips from the Kingdom Builder Feature. :) --LTIan (talk) 13:57, 7 February 2017 (EST)

Spriter's Resource Account?[edit]

Do you have a Spriter's Resource account? :)

If you do, could post a sprite sheet of everything containing from the Super Mario Run Mobile Game.

Even the Kingdom Builder stuff. :) --LTIan (talk) 18:57, 6 February 2017 (EST)

No, I don't. I would like to have one, but I don't know how on earth to make a sheet. ;-) Yes man (talk) 13:03, 7 February 2017 (EST)
It's actually quite simple to make a sprite sheet: just combine all of the sprites that you've managed to rip into one big file. :) --LTIan (talk) 13:13, 7 February 2017 (EST)
I'm sorry, but I only know how to rip sprites from screenshots with a good quality on this website. ;-) Yes man (talk) 13:14, 7 February 2017 (EST)
I understand. :) That's ok. As long you can post all of the graphics/buildings/decor from the screencaps from the Kingdom Builder Feature, I'll accept them for the way they are. :) --LTIan (talk) 14:16, 7 February 2017 (EST)
Ok. :) Yes man (talk) 14:01, 8 February 2017 (EST)

Water Geyser Image[edit]

Hello. I'm confused as to where you found this image of a Water Geyser. It's labeled as being from New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but as far as the page says (and as far as I can remember), there don't appear to be any Water Geysers in that game. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:40, 9 September 2017 (EDT)

Maybe it was a mistake. It can also be from New Super Mario Bros. U. ;-) Yes man (talk) 15:58, 9 September 2017 (EDT)
Heh. We all have those moments :P Thanks! Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:03, 9 September 2017 (EDT)
You're welcome! Yes man (talk) 14:59, 10 September 2017 (EDT)

Image tags[edit]

Hi. You keep giving your uploads the "game sprite" tag, but most of them actually fall under the "3D model render" option, even if they're low resolution. "Sprite" should be reserved for when something is a flat graphic within the game's data. Thank you! Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:19, 30 March 2018 (EDT)

You did it again, please stop. That's not a sprite, it's a model render. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:27, 16 April 2018 (EDT)
Oh I'm sorry, I forgot that. I apoligize. ;-) Yes man (talk) 14:59, 18 April 2018 (EDT)
And again. Not a sprite. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:51, 1 May 2018 (EDT)

Thank you.[edit]

Thank you for every edit you've ever done ever! Thanked you for your edit on (talk) 14:58, 19 July 2018 (EDT)

You're welcome! Yes man (talk) 09:06, 20 July 2018 (EDT)

Hello, Yes man. Good job on your recent uploads. But when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded coding is shown below.

|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line of the variable(s) you don't use. If you do not wish to use the template at all, then it is acceptable to simply remove it before you upload the file. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, regarding your recent upload you need to add the {{aboutfile}} template when you upload images, and while I already added the aboutfile template for you, images should have this template when they are uploaded. A guide of how to add this template is listed above this comment. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk)Topmini.png 15:43, 23 January 2019 (EST)

You have forgot this again. While I have also added this template on that image for you, please remember the above when uploading images. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk)Topmini.png 14:53, 24 January 2019 (EST)
Hello, I'd just like to step in here and say that you're doing nothing wrong- it's fine to upload images without an aboutfile in case that wasn't clear, it's completely optional to use it and you're doing the right thing by removing it entirely if you aren't using it. Good work on those uploads, though! :) BBQ Turtle (talk) 14:11, 24 January 2019 (EST)
Alright, then. Thank you for your compliment. Yes man (talk) 15:14, 29 January 2019 (EST)
This warning has been overturned by the MarioWiki staff. The original warning can still be viewed.
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (not using the aboutfile template) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If this warning was not issued by an administrator and you feel it was undeserved, you may appeal it.
You're still not doing this. Make sure to use the {{aboutfile}} template when uploading images. Super Mushroom Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png Obsessive Mario Fan MK8DX Mario Icon.png 15:14, February 13, 2020 (EST)
My apologies, I didn't saw your message. But just like Alex95 said below, it is optional to add the {{aboutfile}} template. But is it really important the template anyway? Because because all five points of every image are exactly the same; I take every image from game screenshots on this site, I remove the backgrounds and crop the image (so that you only see the character), and I upload it. That applies to every image I upload. Yes man (talk) 15:57, February 18, 2020 (EST)
Overturned. Not filling it out correctly is one thing, but the aboutfile template itself is completely optional to use. As stated in the reminder above: "If you do not wish to use the template at all, then it is acceptable to simply remove it before you upload the file." Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:13, February 13, 2020 (EST)
Yes, that's what I'm used to do for years. ;-) Yes man (talk) 15:57, February 18, 2020 (EST)

That's actually a Sidestepper. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:38, 7 February 2019 (EST)

Pardon me. Yes man (talk) 15:11, 8 February 2019 (EST)

Images and policy[edit]

I know most of your images are screenshots with backgrounds cropped, but this is not OK. For starters, it's a .jpg to .png conversion, which is outright against our image policy. The only time details should ever be whited out on a .jpg image is if it's like an art scan where another unrelated artwork gets slightly within the borders or a similar situation. This, on the other hand, is akin to attempting to make a .jpg transparent, which is not allowed. Aside from that, it's upscaled and I can see the original pixels with resize-sampling filters over them, which while I'm not sure if it's explicitly forbidden, should still never be done as it looks hideous. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:11, April 27, 2020 (EDT)

Alright, I will crop my pictures from other screenshots. Thanks for your warning. Yes man (talk) 15:38, April 28, 2020 (EDT)

Where did you crop this from? Mario Gold pose SMM.png Mario JC 22:15, May 11, 2020 (EDT)

I cropped it from this picture:
WiiU captaintoad screenshot 01.png Yes man (talk) 15:52, May 13, 2020 (EDT)
Any reason why some of them are of worse quality than the originals though (like File:MarioMK8D.png and File:MK8D Mario Using Smart Steering.png)? You can see some artifacts on them. Mario Gold pose SMM.png Mario JC 21:14, May 13, 2020 (EDT)
I'm using the website to delete te backgrounds. Sadly, I can't improve the quaility of the pictures, and so is the size. I would like to have them in a better quality, and to have the pictures bigger, but I think I can't, unfortunately. Yes man (talk) 06:10, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
Does the resulting image save as jpg or png? Mario Gold pose SMM.png Mario JC 22:37, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
It saved as png. I always crop it with Paint. Yes man (talk) 15:56, May 15, 2020 (EDT)

Gallery Image Files[edit]

Hi, just letting you know that when adding an image file to a gallery - specifically, between <gallery> and </gallery> - it is not necessary to type "File:", the image will still be added without it. For example, instead of "File:Nocoverart.jpg" you can just write "Nocoverart.jpg". MarioComix (talk) 17:19, May 29, 2020 (EDT)

Alright, thank you for letting me know. ;-) Yes man (talk) 05:33, May 30, 2020 (EDT)

Cropped images[edit]

The crop work in the majority of your uploads have been a hit-and-miss. While less complex and sprite-based ones like this are fine, ones like this and this with very visible edge pixels and traces of image editing are not (they're essentially the same as bad transparency, without the transparency). If the resulting crop isn't going to turn out great from the source image, I would strongly suggest not uploading it. Mario Gold pose SMM.png Mario JC 23:09, May 29, 2020 (EDT)

I'll try to pay attention to it. For sprites like this, I use the website Do you maybe know another website where I can delete te backgrounds free and easily, without visible edge pixels? Yes man (talk) 05:39, May 30, 2020 (EDT)
