This infobox shows general information about courses from the Mario Kart series and other racing games. For race courses from Diddy Kong Racing, use {{DKR course infobox}}.

| |title= | By default, this is not necessary, as it will automatically use the article title sans identifier. For special cases, it can be manually specified. |
| |image= | A representative image of the race course—ideally, its most recognizable feature. The image must be from the course's original appearance. Images from future ports or remakes can be added to a gallery in their respective articles.[Proposal 1] |
| |appears_in= | The games in which this course appears in. |
| |cups= | Cups in which the course appears, ordered to match the "Appears in" field. Not to be used for Mario Kart Tour cups.[Proposal 2] |
| |tours= | Tours in which the course appears. Used only for courses that appear in Mario Kart Tour.[Proposal 2] |
| |rallies= | Rallies in which the course appears. Used only for courses that appear in Mario Kart World. |
| |based_on= | Sometimes the course is inspired by certain elements from other series (use a reference if it's necessary). |
| |distance= | The official length of the course. Used only for courses that appear in Mario Kart 64. |
| |sample= | A file of the course's theme. |
| |map= | The minimap of the course, along with equivalent images, such as the lower screen maps in Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 7. |
| |ghost= | A list of any Staff Ghost times set for the course. Use {{ghost}}. |
