Mystery Item

Donkey Kong Jet Race

When I went to the Disambiguation page DKJR, I saw a link that says Donkey Kong Jet Race and I clicked it and it went here. Was there a proposal merging them together, or Donkey Kong Jet Race is just another name for this. Red Shell 68066vr (talk)

Item Images

I've found a sheet depicting all item icons and I'm preparing to upload them, but there is one small thing. The item icons I've found lack the blue background that some of the current ones already have. Should I upload those I've found on the sheet and replace the older ones? Are we sure the title doesn't have a colon?

Now, I don't own the American version of this game, but as I could see via online manuals, the game's title is formatted as "Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast" (same going for it's European name using a colon), now, I'm not too sure if it's like this on the Wii menu, as I can't find footage of it. (It's worth noting Diddy Kong Racing DS is known as just Diddy Kong Racing on the DS's menu, so I wouldn't be too surprised it's another case like that.) Kaptain Skurvy 09:14, January 4, 2025 (EST)

What do you mean by "the title," exactly? If you mean the logo used on the title screen, I wouldn't consider that a good example. I don't think any game really formats a colon within its logo. Both Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast and Donkey Kong: Jet Race are pretty consistently spelled with a colon officially. This includes the name on the Wii Menu, the game's manual, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Ultimate. As far as I'm aware, the only time it's been officially spelled without a colon is Kritter's Trophy description in Smash 4, which I'm very willing to chalk up to being a typo or a case of citogenesis with this wiki or another unofficial site (in the same way "Rudy the Clown" made it into the localization of Fortune Street). Given all this, I'd say a rename is in order, perhaps with "sometimes spelled without a colon" added to the opening paragraph to account for the Smash 4 case.

Apparently Wikipedia has also been spelling without a colon since forever. Really goes to show just how little most people care about this game.
