Red Rings, are objects present in New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario 3D Land. When jumped through, it will make eight Red Coins appear, but only for a limited time. If all Red Coins are collected, then the player receives an item depending on which form Mario is in. When Mario is in his standard or Mini form, a Super Mushroom will appear. If he is in his super form, a Fire Flower will appear. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a Propeller Mushroom, Ice Flower or Penguin Suit may appear instead, depending on the level. When Mario is in his Fire, Shell, Ice, Propeller, or Penguin form, he will gain a 1-Up Mushroom.
Red Rings also appear in Super Mario 3D Land. They now make only 5 Red Coins appear instead of 8, but other than that they function the same way. Depending on the level, they can yield a Fire Flower, Super Leaf, Statue Leaf or Boomerang Flower when Mario is in his super form.
