Koopa Kurl is a Duel minigame found in Mario Party Advance. It is based on curling, which is referenced in the title, although "curl" was corrupted to "kurl" to form a piece of alliteration with "Koopa."

In the Shroom City mode, Koopa Kurl is played at the Bowser Lab. If the player selects to view the "scary" monster, Naval Piranha appears, and Bowser has the player face it in this minigame. By defeating it, the player earns the minigame and the Gaddget Magic Lamp.

Gameplay[edit]

The players attempt to gain points by using Koopa Shells, throwing them into a certain spot that awards points. Both players have different-colored Koopa Shells to make the minigame more color-coded as they attempt to gain points on their own. When it is a player's turn, they can adjust the aim with +Control Pad and the power with the power bar at the bottom right corner. The player throws the Koopa Shell slowly if the power bar line is on the bright yellow; they throw the Koopa Shell fast if the power bar line is on the red. At the far right side, there is a floor that looks like a target. The outermost ring of the target is worth 20 points, the second-outermost ring is worth 30 points, the ring near the center is worth 50 points, and the center is worth 100 points. At the middle side of the field, there is a row of colored circles. The large blue circle is worth 20 points, the small red circle is worth 15 points, and the small blue circle is worth 25 points. In addition, there are two narrow yellow rectangular bars that have ×2's on them between the rows of circles; if one of the player's Koopa Shells stops on one of the narrow yellow rectangular bars while having points, the player's points are doubled. When tossing a shell, players can knock around any shells that are already on the field, which can result in decreasing or increasing either player's point totals.

The minigame consists of two rounds. After the first one, both players' points are saved as the Koopa Shells disappear and the second round starts. Using a ×2 bar does not double the saved points as both players have to gain their own points and can use the ×2 bars. The player who has more points total at the end of both rounds wins.
