Mr. Game & Watch is a 2-D character and the star of the Game & Watch gallery games and the Game & Watch handheld systems. He was created by Gunpei Yokoi, who also created Princess Daisy.

In the Game & Watch Gallery games, Mr. Game & Watch appears along with many of the Mario cast. The difference is that Mr. Game & Watch is only playable in the classic versions of the games, while the Mario characters are playable in the modern versions.

In Wario Land 4, Princess Shokora runs the item shop in disguise as a stick figure that resembles Mr. Game & Watch. Mr. Game & Watch also appears in WarioWare: Touched! and WarioWare: Smooth Moves, in the classic Game & Watch games.

Super Smash Bros. Series

Mr. Game & Watch also appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee with the rest of the Mario cast. Here, he was the final unlockable, as the player would have to get all the other 24 characters (25 if you include Shiek). After beating Classic or Adventure with every other character, you'll be challenged by Mr. Game & Watch, in Flat Zone. Beat him, and he's yours to use.

He can be a very difficult character to use, but can be treated as the strongest character in the game, if used right. Most of his attacks are tricky, and neither your opponent, or the player will know what he will do. His strongest attack, Oil Panic, is a very hard move to master. Mr. Game & Watch is also rather small and light, and can be thrown off easier than other players. Overall he is a difficult character to use, but a force to be reckoned with when used correctly, so beware.

It is very likely he was made the strongest character, and the final unlockable, as a tribute to Gunpei Yokoi. He died 5 Years before Super Smash Bros. Melee was made, and Mr. Game & Watch's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee was used as a tribute. Other tributes are Daisy being re-introduced into the Mario Series, and the Game & Watch being in almost every Warioware game.
