They vex Wario in his quest to steal the fabled statue of Princess Toadstool from the Black Sugar Gang. The majority of the creatures live in the sandy beach area of Rice Beach, but they can also be found in other areas, such as Sherbet Land. They can be seen frozen in ice blocks in the latter area. The spiky enemies are named for their abilities to drop from ceilings, which they are able to cling to with their sticky, snail-like underbellies. They are able to move a little towards Wario while still on the ceiling. When Wario comes within striking distance, the enemy will come crashing down upon Wario's head. If the pudgy antihero comes in contact with their spiky shells, he is shrunk down to Tiny Wario. To defeat a Dropper, Wario must wait for it to fall from the ceiling and then use a Side-Tackle while it is dizzy and defenseless. While stunned, the creature can also be picked up by Wario and thrown at another enemy. Upon defeat, the monster will cough up a coin for Wario to collect.

Droppers look similar to Spinies, especially in-game. Coincidentally, Spinies are also able to cling to ceilings and fall on Mario. However, when Spinies fall, they will continue to spin until falling off a ledge or until Mario jumps on them. Droppers, on the other hand, will simply fall and never get up or move again.

Droppers[1] are mollusk enemies that inhabit Kitchen Island in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. They are mostly found in Rice Beach, but they can also be found in other areas such as Sherbet Land, where they can be seen frozen in ice blocks. Droppers are named for their abilities to drop from ceilings, which they are able to cling to with their snail-like underbellies. They inch towards Wario while still on the ceiling and will come crashing down when he is within striking distance, causing damage upon contacting their spiky shells. To defeat a Dropper, Wario must wait for it to fall from the ceiling and then attack while it is defenseless. In this state, the creature can also be picked up and thrown at another enemy. Upon defeat, the monster will cough up a coin.

Droppers look similar to Spinies, which are also able to cling to ceilings and fall on Mario; however, fallen Droppers do not get up or move until they are off-screen.
