Famicom Manga is a series of pack-in booklets spotlighting various Famicom games released in Shogakukan magazines from 1986 to 1987[1]. The manga mostly serves as illustrated guides of the games showing secrets and tricks. Three of the books are based off of Super Mario Bros. and one is based off of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. All of these booklets were written by Daisuke Shigoto.

Plot

Super Mario Bros. (Shogaku Ninensei, February 1986)

The manga starts with Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach and Mario setting off to save her. In World 1-1, after Mario gets a Super Mushroom, he can choose to go down a pipe, jump over the warp pipe, or jump over the pit. If Mario chooses to go down the pipe, he will enter the bonus room of the level and is awarded with an extra life. If Mario chooses to jump over the pipe, he will hit a hidden block which gives him a 1-up Mushroom. Mario will do as instructed if he jumps over the pit.

In World 1-2, Mario can choose to take the elevator to go above the pipe or go through the pipe. If Mario chooses to go above the pipe, he will be taken to the Warp Zone and choose one of three pipes to go to either World 2-1, World 3-3, or World 4-2. If Mario chooses to go through the pipe, he will be taken to World 1-3 and run into a Koopa Paratroopa, causing him to lose his Super Mushroom.

In World 1-4, Mario reaches the end of the level to face off against a Fake Bowser. Mario can choose to jump over the Fake Bowser or go on the platform above the Fake Bowser and run. If Mario chooses the former, the Fake Bowser bites Mario in the leg, he loses a life and has to go back to page 6. If he chooses the latter, Mario hits the axe and the Fake Bowser falls into the lava. Mario then encounters a Mushroom Retainer which tells him that the princess isn't here and is in World 8-4.

In World 2-1, Mario gets another Super Mushroom and can choose how hit a row of ? Blocks or Brick Blocks. If Mario chooses to hit the ? Blocks he will get coins. If he chooses to hit Brick Blocks, one of the blocks will have a vine grow out of it. He will then enter the Coin Heaven and an extra life is granted.

In World 2-2, Mario encounters some Bloopers and can choose to swim up or walk on the seabed. If Mario chooses the former, Mario runs into the Blooper, loses a life and goes to page 14. If Mario chooses the latter, Mario successfully avoids the Bloopers because they can't reach him on the floor.

In World 3-3, at the end of the level, Mario can choose to stay on the Scale Lift and wait for the platform to rise, or immediately jump towards the Goal Pole. If Mario chooses the former, the platform falls and Mario loses a life, sending him to page 16. If Mario chooses the latter, he reaches the Goal Pole and finishes the level.

In World 4-2, Mario can choose to hit a Brick Block, jump, or proceed. If Mario chooses to hit a Brick Block, another vine would sprout from it. Going up the vine takes him to the bonus area and another warp zone. Mario can then choose to go to World 6, World 7, or World 8-3. If Mario chooses to go to World 6, he will step on a Spiny and lose a life. If Mario chooses to go to World 7, he will run into a Bullet Bill and lose a life. If Mario chooses to go to World 8-3, he will get a Fire Flower from a ? Block. Back at World 4-2, if Mario chooses to jump in the air, he will run out of time, lose a life, and sent back to page 16. If Mario proceeds, he will be sent to World 5-2 and get hit by a hammer from a Hammer Bro, and loses a life. Once finished, all of the actions done here except for jumping will take Mario to World 8-4.

In World 8-4, Mario confronts the real Bowser. He can choose to throw fireballs at him in succession, or jump over him. If Mario chooses the latter, Mario will get hit by hammers that Bowser has thrown, he will lose a life and get sent back to page 20. If Mario chooses the former, Mario defeats Bowser, saves Princess Peach, and restores peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Terebi Denwa: Super Mario World scraps

Gameplay

To play Terebi Denwa: Super Mario World, players have to insert a ¥100 coin, receive a card from the bottom of the cabinet, and insert it back into the card slot. Afterwards, they are given the option to play a game with puzzle-based questions or action-based questions.

Like with Super Mario World: Mario to Yoshi no Bōken Land, the player uses a telephone to interact with the game by listening to its speaker and pressing numbered buttons. The game continues if the player incorrectly answers a question; there is no such thing as a game over.[1]

Puzzle-based questions

Mario and Princess Peach welcome the player to their detective school. They tell the player that if they're grades are good, they will join the detective team. If the player gets a question right, they will receive 25 points. If the player gets a question wrong, 25 points will be removed from the score.

The first question is what Yoshi likes. The player can press button 1 for Dragon Coin, button 2 for Cape Feather, or button 3 for a berry, with berry being the correct answer.

The second question's options are button 1 for Spiny, button 2 for Bullet Bill, and button 3 for Thwomp. Bullet Bill is an incorrect answer.

The third question shows a picture of Peach without her nose and mouth with the answers being different noses and mouths. The player has to choose which one matches Peach's nose and mouth, with button 3 being the correct answer.

The fourth question shows a pair of eyes with the player having to figure out whether the eyes match Roy's, Ludwig's, or Larry's. Larry is the correct answer.

The game ends with a screen featuring Mario, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and a Baby Yoshi. The player also receives another card.[2]

Action-based questions

Mario calls the player and tells them that Princess Peach has been kidnapped by Bowser and asks if they could join him to rescue her. Mario goes down a pipe which leads to the first question, which is asked by Roy.

The first question is about which color does not appear on the Dino Rhino, with button 1 for green, button 2 for yellow, and button 3 for red. Red is the correct answer. If the question is answered correctly, Roy leaves behind a Fire Flower for Mario to become Fire Mario.

The second question is led by Larry, who asks which key fits into the keyhole. The key corresponding to button 2 is the correct answer. If the question is answered correctly, Roy leaves behind a Cape Feather for Mario to become Cape Mario.

Greetings and salutations! I am utikyR! That's right, Rykitu is no more! And I am now emo. Wanna know why? I have just recently discovered that Mario Kart 11 won't include Colonel Culpepper as a playable driver. Don't get me wrong, Mario Kart 11 is looking great! It has every character a Mario Kart needs! But the fact Nintendo refused to add the greatest character of all time is unacceptable. And thus, I quit. Now if you excuse me, I am going to play Shadow the Hedgehog on my PS2.

End of the World

(For context, Porplemontage, the creator of the Super Mario Wiki, announced the servers would be migrated because the original server provider was bought by another server company and they were "consolidating data centers to streamline operations". This meant the Mario wiki servers would be down for about 12 hours. However, since there was a chance the migration wouldn't go as planned, there was a chance it would be the end. So I wrote this on my userpage just in case that did happen after being inspired by an edit summary on the Nintendo Today! article. Thankfully, (and unsurprisingly), that didn't happen.)

If you are reading this, you have made it just in time! If you haven't heard, Porplemontage has announced the wiki will be migrating to a new server. Meaning this could potentially be the end of the Super Mario Wiki as a whole. I doubt it though.

But just in case this is the end, it has been an honor editing this wiki and making it just a little better. Thank you to everyone for making this wiki how it is today. And thank you Steve for creating this wonderful website.

All I hope for is if this wiki gets shut down, the Fandom wiki better not be the replacement. Because we all know Miraheze is way better.

Well, the wiki will be down 6 hours from now. This is Rykitu signing off, and once again, thank you.
