The 'Shroom Spotlight
Written by: RHG1951 (talk) and Technetium (talk)
Hello, all you readers of The 'Shroom, and welcome to Spotlight. Spotlight is a community project which aims to fix up the articles on the wiki which have issues. These issues can range from poor writing, to a lack of images, to even just needing a credible source.
Welcome to the first Spotlight of 2026! A new year means new opportunities, so knows what the future holds? However, one thing's for certain: the wiki needs maintenance and we're asking for your help to fix it up. Before that, let's see how last month's focuses went.
With eight completed focuses, this performance goes beyond the best of a normal month. ThePowerPlayer (talk) created the article for the Heatfreeze Potato and expanded on "Meanwhile, Princess Peach...", Mariuigi Khed (talk) completed the moossion by adding the missing information to Moose, Ninfan64 (talk) dug deeper and found that the compilation cabinet was Cosmodog's only contribution to the Super Mario franchise, BMfan08 (talk) fixed the code for Mario's Figure Skating Spectacular, Sparks (talk) added the images to Momma, Maw-Ray Master (talk) removed the false statement from Northern Kremisphere, and Camwoodstock (talk) found the missing spiked ball in the Ice Wall. The royal renders were ignored, as File:HoneyQueenSMG.png and File:Penguin King render (TSMBM).png were left untouched.
And now onto this month's focuses:
| Article | Category | Focuses |
|---|---|---|
| It's another tearjerker directly from Rosalina's Storybook. Lubba misses her sister and the only way to ease the heartache is to create an article for her. Try to write through the tears! | ||
| The thing about gossiping is that it's about talking about other people's lives. At the moment, the article is decidedly not that. Eavesdrop on the gossips and learn about their lives. | ||
| With the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in just a few short months, that means its marketing will be ramping up soon. We should get our ducks in a row (or perhaps turtles?) and clean up the loose ends with the original movie, starting with "Peaches". The article needs a dedicated composition section and a more concise lead. | ||
| Continuing with our efforts to improve the auditory side of the wiki, we are in the process of documenting recurring sound effects throughout the franchise, such as the 1-Up sound effect. Give this article a leg up by uploading more samples. | ||
| The Snowmads have a reason to be angry, and it's not because they barely appear in Nintendo Today's Donkey Kong theme or are only referenced in a limited-time event in Bananza. It's because this piece of artwork is barely covered by a watermark. Find a version without one to make them Snowglads. | ||
| The article only requests a citation for Piranha Plants appearing as obstacles, though it would be nice to skip the middleman and add images for each of the obstacles. With the latest update to Mario Kart World, this should be easy to fulfill. |
Now just before we leave you, we'd like to tell you about unimplemented proposals. There are currently 39 that need to be implemented, dating as far back as 2021, so think of this as a continuous Spotlight goal until they're all completed. Additionally, there are many unresolved discussions that we would love to see come to some sort of conclusion. Some might have already concluded and just need the template removed, others have been waiting for a response for years. There are also thousands of articles with unsourced foreign names. They are found within this category, so please help out and add sources for them.
Thanks for tuning in to the newest edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! Be sure to turn up next month, where we'll be reviewing the progress on the above focuses. If you have any questions or suggestions about this month's set of the article focuses, then please get in touch through the dedicated topic if you have a forum account. If not, then please contact us on either RHG's talk page or Technetium's talk page, but you are far more likely to get a quick response if you go through the forums. You are also welcome to make suggestions on what you think we could focus on in our next edition! Thank you, and good luck!
