The 'Shroom Spotlight
Written by: RHG1951 (talk) and Technetium (talk)
Hello, all you readers of The 'Shroom, and welcome to Spotlight. Spotlight is a community project which aims to fix up the articles on the wiki which have issues. These issues can range from poor writing, to a lack of images, to even just needing a credible source.
With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart World being less than a month away, it does feel like the calm before the storm. The fact that the only game under our coverage that has been released this year is an enhanced port of Donkey Kong Country Returns adds to this feeling. There's also Nintendo Music and Nintendo Today!, but those are small potatoes compared to an entirely new game. So, let this edition of Spotlight serve as a rest before things really heat up. But enough pontificating, let's go over last month's focuses.
Editors really put the spring in their step last month, with over half the focuses being completed! And ThePowerPlayer (talk) helped with all four by creating Spotlight (object), editing Wisdurm X to make the differences between her and the original Wisdurm fight clearer, adding the missing Paah samples, and determining that Eggs were never known as Creature Eggs. We'd also like to give shoutouts to Spencer PK (talk), who edited Wisdurm X's bestiary stats (and improved Mario & Luigi: Bowser Inside Story's bestiary in general) and further elaborated on Wisdurm X's battle mechanics, and the multiple users who added information to Spotlight's page after its creation including Maw-Ray Master (talk), Power Flotzo (talk), Nintendo101 (talk), LinkTheLefty (talk), Pingouinsandwich (talk), and Mariuigi Khed (talk). And while not being a focus, we were able to give every file an Aboutfile description, so thank you everyone who contributed to the effort! That said, Rainbi's whereabouts remain foggy and File:DK64 PC Cover.png hasn't met Editor's Choice standards.
And now onto this month's focuses:
Article | Category | Focuses |
---|---|---|
Gadzooks! Unlike fellow Treehouse localizers Nate Bihldorff and Leslie Swan, Tim O'Leary still doesn't have a dedicated article. As the former voice of Dr. Crygor and Orbulon and with over 70 credited roles in the Super Mario games, he has plenty of material to write about. | ||
With the current length of the article, poor Poochy has barely any space to run. Give a better description of the level's layout so that he can really stretch his legs. | ||
Many entries aren't filled in with their respective descriptions. Additionally, we don't know if the existing entries come from the North American NTSC or PAL version of the game. In fact, we don't know if that difference exists at all! Having a text dump from the game would help on all these fronts. | ||
Here's the May flower that was promised last month. However, it has yet to fully bloom. In order for that to happen, add images of the level's chests (and maybe water it). | ||
Happy (belated) Mother's Day! Bowser was going to give his mom a photo he took of her, but it sadly came out blurry. Can you find a higher quality image so Bowser's mother gets her gift | ||
We thought we got a great deal with this "Z-Star", but according to the wiki, Ztars are called Z-Stars in PAL versions of Mario Party 7. Find a source that proves this claim, or else Rainbow Galleria won't give us a refund! |
Now just before we leave you, we'd like to tell you about unimplemented proposals. There are currently 42 that need to be implemented, dating as far back as 2021, so think of this as a continuous Spotlight goal until they're all completed. Additionally, there are many unresolved discussions that we would love to see come to some sort of conclusion. Some might have already concluded and just need the template removed, others have been waiting for a response for years. There are also thousands of articles with unsourced foreign names. They are found within this category, so please help out and add sources for them.
Thanks for tuning in to the newest edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! Be sure to turn up next month, where we'll be reviewing the progress on the above focuses. If you have any questions or suggestions about this month's set of the article focuses, then please get in touch through the dedicated topic if you have a forum account. If not, then please contact us on either RHG's talk page or Technetium's talk page, but you are far more likely to get a quick response if you go through the forums. You are also welcome to make suggestions on what you think we could focus on in our next edition! Thank you, and good luck!
