The 'Shroom:Issue 200/The 'Shroom Spotlight
Hello, all you readers of The 'Shroom, and welcome to Spotlight. Spotlight is a community project which aims to fix up the articles on the wiki which have issues. These issues can range from poor writing, to a lack of images, to even just needing a credible source.
I can't believe we're already here at 200 issues of The 'Shroom. Time flies when you're maintaining a wiki of this size, huh? I came into the scene a mere 34 issues ago in issue 166 when I created the page for the Shiny Ice Flower, and now I'm writing for the Spotlight itself. I even have a shiny new image right there on the side just in time for the occasion! For my part of the festivities, I'm introducing two new types of focuses. But first, let's go over last month's focuses.
OmegaRuby (talk) created the Friend House article, Sparks (talk) elaborated upon Bony Beetle's appearance in Mario Golf: Super Rush, ThePowerPlayer (talk) improved the quality of File:NSMBW Scaredy Rat Screenshot.png, and LadySophie17 (talk) found the pre-release screenshot that shows the early Safari Room. Nice work, everyone!
And now onto this month's focuses:
With the plethora of new articles that need to be written, it's also important to take care of the backlog. The locations of the coins are already in the Bowser's Kingdom article, so all that's needed are pictures.
It feels like Five Coins have appeared in more games than just the ones already listed in the article. Even if that's not true, expanding upon their appearances in the Mario & Luigi series would also be helpful.
While Buzzar is no turkey, being a big bird is close enough to being thematically related to Thanksgiving for me. The article currently makes no mention on how the battle with Buzzar plays out which is a pretty significant thing to leave out for a boss character.
This is one of the new focus types to commemorate 200 issues! There are 90 records listed in this article, but I can't listen to a single one. If you're not familiar with the policies concerning media files, check out Help:Media before uploading.
This is the other new focus type! Many of its sections lack music sample, mainly the ones covering the sports games. Like the above focus, make sure to familiarize yourself with the media file policies before starting.
The Super Mario Sunshine section says that Mario's jump somehow gets weaker if he loses health. Does this mean the height the jump can reach is reduced, the power of the jump is diminished, or some other thing? Clarifying this would make me jump for joy.
Now just before I leave you, I'd like to tell you about unimplemented proposals. There are currently thirty-nine that need to be implemented, dating as far back as 2018, so think of this as a continuous Spotlight goal until they're all completed. Additionally, there are many unresolved discussions that we would love to see come to some sort of conclusion. Some might have already concluded and just need the template removed, others have been waiting for a response for years.
Thanks for tuning in to the newest edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! Be sure to turn up next month, where we'll be reviewing the progress on the above focuses. If you have any questions or suggestions about this month's set of the article focuses, then please get in touch through the dedicated topic if you have a forum account. If not, then please contact me on my talk page, but you are far more likely to get a quick response if you go through the forums. You are also welcome to make suggestions on what you think we could focus on in our next edition! Thank you, and good luck!
