It's likely that the Forest of Illusion theme is part of a Super Mario World map medley. A bit earlier in the same video, the Yoshi's Island map theme played as well. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 12:54, April 6, 2025 (EDT)

Biker Daisy not Pro Racer

Hi, I'm sorry, I noticed that Biker Daisy was labeled as Pro Racer Daisy in the costume section of the article, when we've seen Pro Racer Daisy in the treehouse, and she has a separate costume from Biker Daisy - an orange suit, and backwards crown cap with teal rim (I put it on the site mentioned earlier) That's all!

Peach Beach

are we seriously not going to say this is Peach Beach? The layout matches, it's got Cataquacks, its in a place called "Peach Resort". With Tour courses we always edited articles and listed the courses before the name's were confirmed because we could very clearly see the course was the same: the same applies here. We do not need a source for its name considering the course is 24 years old and it matches identically, it's even got the small square area by the starting line. - YoYo Yoshi Head (light blue) from Mario Kart: Super Circuit (Talk) 16:04, April 6, 2025 (EDT)

Peach Beach in Mario Kart World
While I have no strong opinion on whether we should call this Peach Beach at this moment, I do feel like calling it "Peach Resort" at this moment is at least as conjectural as calling it GCN Peach Beach would be. This game has a lot of cases of courses having signage that is not the actual course name - see GCN Dino Dino Jungle having "Dino Laboratory" signage all over, or Salty Salty Speedway having signage for "Lagoon City". As such, having a name displayed on signage doesn't really feel like a clearer indicator of what this course's name is than, well, the entire layout and course gimmicks, as YoYo pointed out. While I do feel like the course layout should be enough to put this as GCN Peach Beach for now, I also think it's fair to leave it with a purely descriptive name for now. It's mostly using the name from the signage that feels a bit too conjectural for me. UnderFlorence (talk) 16:36, April 6, 2025 (EDT)

Peach Stadium has two tracks like Crown City

It appears that there is a second Peach Stadium track that is driven to from the SNES Mario Circuit track, based on this video (timestamp 12:24).

Can this be added to the list of tracks on the wiki?

The cups that each of the tracks are in

The Great ? Block Ruins track is the last track in the Banana Cup (this image shows the path to it from GCN Dino Dino Jungle: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1004906788291870730/1358681187173928960/IMG_2181.png?ex=67f4b9f6&is=67f36876&hm=ac4f2bb6e83fe5a106c22e6313d6f5a0e5ee65b426c4931f454379307c08f20c&)

The Dry Bones Burnout track is the last course in the Leaf Cup (this video, at 16:01, shows the track being driven to from Boo Cinema, which has already been identified as the third course in the cup: https://m.twitch.tv/videos/2422809474?desktop-redirect=true&t=16m01s)

The Bowser’s Castle track is the last course in the Lightning Cup (this video, at 5:39:34, shows the track being driven to from Wii Toad’s Factory, which has already been identified as the third course in the cup: https://m.twitch.tv/videos/2422691214?desktop-redirect=true&t=5h39m34s)

The last unknown cup has Acorn Heights and SNES Mario Circuit as back to back tracks (this video, at 7:25, shows the driving between these two tracks: https://youtu.be/PXPsabT3Dhg?t=445).

In addition, Peach Stadium (second route) is after SNES Mario Circuit in this unknown cup (this video, at 12:24, shows the second Peach Stadium route being driven to from SNES Mario Circuit: https://youtu.be/QPAJMJ68Aak?t=744)

By process of elimination, this would place Rainbow Road as the last course in the unknown cup.

Can this all be added to the wiki?

We do not yet know the course order for cups after Shell Cup

These listings seem to be based on not very good sources, i suggest they just be listed out of order in "more courses" for now 2.102.37.188 21:39, April 7, 2025 (EDT)

We see them going from course A to course B, which means that, going by how the GP mode is said to work, A is right before B in its order, for instance. The only way that the order of the cups as given here is not the actual order in the GPs is if the setups used to demo the GPs don't actually present content from the GP mode (and just random VS races, I suppose?), but at that point we might as well discount anything else we see from these demos. UnderFlorence (talk) 06:43, April 8, 2025 (EDT)
Would this mean that actually the orders of the mushroom, flower, star and special would be invalid? probably not though, but using fan made youtube videos is also not a valid source 2.102.37.188 14:54, April 8, 2025 (EDT)
Why would using screen recordings of an official event not be a valid source? It's showing off footage of the game, held at an official event, with permission by Nintendo to film at the event. If "fan made videos" were not a valid source, then stuff like tons of documentation on glitches would also be invalid. Any screenshots or videos on this wiki that were created by wiki editors to document levels, enemies, etc are also "fan made," should these also be removed? If we only ever were allowed to use Nintendo sources, then this wiki would be immensely empty and, for example, we wouldn't be able to document most endgame or postgame elements of games (like the last few secret levels of Mario Wonder), since any source for them would be "fan made." UnderFlorence (talk) 09:07, April 11, 2025 (EDT)

I suggest, whoever sees this to remove them immediately 2.102.37.188 20:43, April 8, 2025 (EDT)

You are shielded from the Lightning item when underneath a roof in-game

I was watching Shortcat's video on Mario Kart, and at this timestamp he points out that the Lightning item doesn't effect you if you're in the tunnel during this transition by showing footage from a Japanese X (Twitter) user playing the demo. I myself refuse to get X, so my suggestion entails someone who does have this platform to go to the user's page, find the post, and use it as a source to add this information to the wiki. To save time, the user's account is "@jakusya_ss". --LuigiTime202 (talk) 02:51, April 8, 2025 (EDT)

Shouldn't we be using the character's default outfits for the character section?

This concerns the following characters:

On the Returning characters section, we use the official artwork for these three characters, but as you can see, these are NOT their default outfits, as Luigi is in his Pro Racer costume, Peach is in her Touring costume, and Bowser Jr. is in his Biker Jr. costume. Wouldn't it make more sense if we showed these characters in their default outfits instead?
Oh, and side note: on the the Character costumes section, we're using Luigi and Peach's artwork for their Pro Racer and Touring costumes respectively, but for some reason, we're NOT using Bowser Jr's artwork for his Biker Jr. costume. Similarly, Pauline's Aero costume has been replaced from her artwork from the key art, yet Daisy's Swimwear costume is still from the key art? Shouldn't Bowser Jr. and Pauline use their official artwork in order to be consistent with Luigi, Peach and Daisy? ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 12:00, April 8, 2025 (EDT)

I assume the reasoning here is to prefer renders wherever possible. In my eyes, wanting to use the default outfit for a character feels akin to wanting them represented on the Standard Kart: certainly sensible for consistency, and in a perfect world where every setup had a render, it would be preferred. But only some of these have renders, and so the highest-quality artwork (and also the artwork that was chosen by Nintendo to be representative of the game, since they created those renders and featured them on the boxart and website) was used.
As for why some characters don't use their renders from the key art, those don't seem to have been released in an isolated form and would need to be cropped from the key art, which would mean a lot of overlap with other characters, and they wouldn't be shown in full. In those cases, a cropped gameplay screenshot generally seems to be showing the characters more completely. I assume once the game gets closer to release, we'll get more renders, and once it's out, we can take more consistent screenshot (i.e. just using the character select screen for everyone, or something). Youtube videos are a perfectly good source. I see nothing wrong with the analysis it shows based on official demo gameplay.--PopitTart (talk) 17:46, April 10, 2025 (EDT)
but the demos do not show entire cups, and youtube videos where someone has just put together their own list of what they believe the cups will contain, rather than actual screenshots showing the course icons for each cup, isn't really a good enough source, we only have actual evidence for the first four cups, from gameplay footage 80.46.119.108 19:10, April 10, 2025 (EDT)
The demos show races in Grand Prix mode that start at one location and end at another. This means both of those courses are in the same cup, since that's how Grand Prix works in Mario Kart World. We have demos showing a race from Peach Beach to Salty Salty Speedway, from SSS to Dino Dino Jungle, and from DDJ to Great ? Block Ruins. Therefore, all four of those tracks are in the same cup: The Banana Cup, as indicated by the trophy that also shows up at the end of these demos.--PopitTart (talk) 19:54, April 10, 2025 (EDT)

"Intermissions"

After the Mario Kart World Direct, I'm starting to think that the "intermission" option is not referring to roads in between courses. After all, we see from the VS menu that we can choose a starting course, then simply select it again to race 3 laps on it, or select a connecting course, with the in-between road denoted with the >>> arrow. Also, on the image that shows "Knockout Tour rules" with intermission, there is nothing equivalent on the "VS rules" panel, instead replacing it with race count. Is there another source that calls these in-between roads "intermissions"? (Otherwise, I speculate an "intermission" is just whether the next race continues directly from the last race, or if there will be a semi-pause and then another countdown for the second race.) MarioComix (talk) 20:49, April 17, 2025 (EDT)

The option is not present for VS mode because as you say, you actively select whether or not you do 3 laps or go from one track to another when selecting the individual courses. This isn't an option for Grand Prix, so the option is presented when selecting the cup. In addition, I would disagree with your speculation on the meaning of "Intermission", since we see in the Treehouse gameplay that the transition between tracks is non-continuous. After completing Mario Circuit, the barrier to the right of the starting line is moved, barricading the track's initial left turn to force you off the track. After Crown City, you are placed at an entirely separate starting line on the other side of the city, and the route you previously took is again barricaded. These changes wouldn't work in a continuous mode.--PopitTart (talk) 21:08, April 17, 2025 (EDT)
Hm, that's true regarding the barricades. (I guess technically they could just both be un-barricaded and use dynamic arrow fields or something, but I could see how that would become tricky to navigate.) Just seems odd to me that they didn't explicitly mention "intermissions" during the Direct, but perhaps that's just them skimming over the fine print. Hopefully a more concise source will appear and show us exactly how "intermissions" work though. MarioComix (talk) 22:05, April 17, 2025 (EDT)

This screenshot's map eludes me

Gameplay of a beach-themed intermission route during multiplayer in Mario Kart World with Game Chat and Camera Play active.

So here we have a map of an intermission route during what seems to be a Grand Prix or VS match, but I don't think I recognize the end part where the final lap will take place. The shot takes place during a beach course with banners reading "Peach Resort", suggesting the middle of the map takes place around Peach Beach, and therefor suggesting that the map at the end portion must be Salty Salty Speedway, Wario Shipyard, or Great ? Block Ruins... but this map portion doesn't really resemble any of those courses' respective maps? One could say that maybe they're driving to Peach Beach, but the map doesn't really resemble what Peach Beach's looked like in past games, either (and again, it looks completely different).
I did notice that the lap count for this route appears to be 4 rather than 3, and the only intermission route I'm aware of that has that is the route inbetween Faraway Oasis and Crown City, and the environment on the big map does look beachy enough, so maybe this could be inbetween Koopa Troopa Beach and Peach Stadium, and this route at the end is specifically Peach Stadium's Shell Cup map (which is possible given that Crown City has two different maps as well)? But then again, the thing that connects Faraway Oasis to Crown City is a large bridge, which is not visible in the screenshot despite taking place in the middle of the route, and the environment in the distance certainly resembles Peach Beach and Salty Salty Speedway more.
Am I stupid? Am I missing something obvious here? ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 09:37, April 27, 2025 (EDT)

It seems to be the route from Salty to Peach Beach in the Spiny Rally. - YoYo Yoshi Head (light blue) from Mario Kart: Super Circuit (Talk) 16:46, April 28, 2025 (EDT)
Looking it over, the intermission route and the environment do match. But that kind of makes things even more confusing because not only does the map at the end in above screenshot not match at all with what Peach Beach looked like in past games, but it doesn't even match with the last portion where the next section begins in the Spiny Rally footage (which, in turn, DOES match closer to Peach Beach's map, and looking further into the footage, it also matches Peach Beach when you go through the course in reverse). This kind of makes the map at the end of the route in the screenshot above STILL an enigma... in fact, EVEN MORE SO. The map doesn't match with what Peach Beach's map used to look like, nor does it match with the Peach Beach portion in the Spiny Rally. So here we have a map that is decidedly NOT Peach Beach, yet is located exactly where Peach Beach should be.
Unless this IS actually Peach Beach, and for some reason, it looks completely different in VS matches compared to not only in Knockout Tour, but also in past games, which does not seem to make any sense. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 19:20, April 28, 2025 (EDT)

No, I don't think it's the salty to peach beach in the spiny rally. There's no "get better than (placement)" below the 18th. Whoismacaroni (talk) 10:34, May 2, 2025 (EDT)whoismacaroni

That's also not really what YoYo was saying: he's saying that the same route as Salty Salty Rally to Peach Beach within Spiny Rally is being depicted here, not that it actually was the Spiny Rally. To be fair, I initially thought this, too. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 10:48, May 2, 2025 (EDT)
The minimap depicted here is Peach Beach, but not the old one. it is an alternate route that seems to split off from the fountain area, going up into and through the castle, before being launched over on the water near it. You can see the course in the large overhead view for the whole continent, as well as parts of it in Peach Beach screenshots. I suspect that, when played solo, the course will have alternating paths à la Booster Course Pass city courses. When played in conjunction with other roads, only one of the alternating paths will be picked depending on which road is used. — Lady Sophie Wiggler Sophie.png (T|C) 10:59, May 2, 2025 (EDT)

Confusion rises once more now that I've seen that Crown City, which we already know the two maps of, has a third map? Even though it only appears in two cups?
Crown City map
So now, I have this theory that this, and the map from the screenshot above, might be map routes exclusive to VS matches, which are chosen depending on which route you've chosen to race (i.e. depending on from which route you've entered a particular course), which not only makes this game seem even bigger than we realize, but also makes it possible for Koopa Beach 1 to be part of Koopa Troopa Beach the same way (which, if true, might mean we'd have to merge the SNES Mario Circuit and Koopa Beach courses the same way as the Tour city courses).
But if that is true, then it begs the question why retro courses such as Peach Beach might get completely different course maps this way, and why they decided to do this instead of having people just race Peach Beach in reverse like in the Spiny Rally. Literally two days before release and the mystery's finally resolved: Apparently, Peach Beach has been completely revamped from Lap 2 onwards to be more in line with city courses like Singapore Speedway, bringing you completely elsewhere. That ending bit in the screenshot above is the new Laps 2 and 3 of Peach Beach, explaining the original course map's absence. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 12:57, June 3, 2025 (EDT)

Bulber, Porcupuffer & Jellybeam are Course Obstacles

In the MKWorld Direct, a Bulber can be sighted during what appears to be the intermission between Wario Shipyard & Salty Salty Speedway. As for Porcupuffer & Jellybeam, I’ve seen footage of them being summon forth by Kamek.

New arrangement of N64 Toads Turnpike found

At around the 2:01 mark of this video, Toads Turnpike is very clearly playing.

Commonwealth English differences

Are we sure that there's a difference (except the spelling), between the American and Commonwealth English versions. Is there a source that proofs this? Light-blue Yoshi from Mario Kart Tour Yoshi18 (talk/contribs) 05:45, April 30, 2025 (EDT)

The direct refers to Wario's Galleon by that name - YoYo Yoshi Head (light blue) from Mario Kart: Super Circuit (Talk) 05:51, April 30, 2025 (EDT)

well, the tiny titan is called the tiny titan in the American version but in the commonwealth English version, it is the rally romper. source: https://youtu.be/xQtEFcw9e6o?t=94 Whoismacaroni (talk) 08:28, April 30, 2025 (EDT)whoismacaroni

Better source for claim that Balloon Battle is elimination-based

The only source that's listed in the article is just the Mario Kart World Direct, but I couldn't spot anything that confirms it—there always seems to be roughly the full number of drivers on the minimap? At one point someone does disappear from the minimap, but it's more likely that that's just them using a Boo, since they were moving (not at a standstill) as they disappeared. Sprinkler (talk) 11:24, April 30, 2025 (EDT)

I'm pretty sure that the Direct says something about being eliminated in its voiceover, and also the Nintendo website's news article about the Direct says the following: "...burst your rivals’ balloons with items in Balloon Battle. If you pop all of your rival’s balloons, they are out!" I think that's solid confirmation. Marioguy (talk) 14:07, April 30, 2025 (EDT)
Oh huh, I watched the UK version of the MKW Direct and apparently that specific line is just completely missing there. Yeah I see now it's clearly there in the US version but that also explains why I couldn't hear anything about it. Sprinkler (talk) 17:30, April 30, 2025 (EDT)

Koopa's Runner Costume

I'm not sure if there's any place for this to be pointed out, but Koopa's Runner costume is actually from concept art for the Roving Racers, seen in the Super Mario Odyssey art book, just with a logo added to the shirt, the shell kept on, and the shoes changed. The hat's logo, sunglasses, and wristband are a 100% match. https://imgur.com/a/4WcmuEz --Burb (talk) 22:21, May 1, 2025 (EDT)

More music for the pile

Sprinkler (talk) 08:53, May 2, 2025 (EDT)

(I'm not able to edit the article so if someone else could add these it'd be greatly appreciated) Sprinkler (talk) 18:35, May 2, 2025 (EDT)

@Sprinkler To which paragraph should these be taken to? Light-blue Yoshi from Mario Kart Tour Yoshi18 (talk/contribs) 07:13, May 3, 2025 (EDT)
Not Sprinkler, but they should be added to the Musical References, along with N64 Toad's Turnpike noted a few entries ago by Cheeseboy2251. Macieee (talk) 08:05, May 3, 2025 (EDT)

Better costume + character screenshots from a recent trailer

https://youtu.be/ETKWkMiJYk0?t=9 This commercal has a lot of higher quality screenshots of character selection options. I added them to the gallery, but perhaps some could be used on the main page, for lack of better images?

Landmark Icons for Acorn Rally

Youtuber OilSuger uploaded a video Mario Kart World Demo Play in Hong Kong (Knockout 1st Place) on May 20, 2025. Around 8:52 while selecting a rally they scroll over the acorn rally showing its landmarks on the screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkm2PInD_Jc

Super Bell Hill?

I think this is Super Bell Hill from 3D World. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH6dbL76T3w&t=392s There's also a listing on the list already for the Credits Roll, which also includes the Super Bell Hill melody, but I can't find the part in the video due to not having a timestamp and no one in the comments mentioning it. So I can't tell if this is a new song or just the Credits Roll again, cause I can't compare.

Unlockable drivers

I’ve just been watching Nintendo Life’s video, and some drivers are unlockable. Not sure who specifically but Birdo is apparently one of them. Skip to 8:00.

Just to add - DK is also unlockable as seen in this article.

Is there an English version, so I can potentially learn more? Harvstar (talk) 18:20, June 3, 2025 (EDT)

So I guess this means that the twelve primary drivers on the first page of the select screen (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Toad, Koopa Troopa, Bowser, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina and Pauline) will be available at the start, and the other twelve on the second page will be unlockable. DK Fan

Rosalina is unlockable. Just trying to find the tweet where it says you have to beat the Star Cup to unlock her.

What would be very shocking would be if Mario was the only racer you had at the beginning. DK Fan
DK unlockable? I thought we were done with making well-established Mario Kart mainstays unlockable after Mario Kart 7 did just that with Wario of all people. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 18:45, June 3, 2025 (EDT)

Lakitu unlockable too. Skip to 12:10 in the video- I think it’s safe to assume that we unlock drivers by completing Grand Prix and Knockout Tours - making potentially 16 unlockable racers!
