Spark Yoshi is an original Yoshi transformation that only appears in Super Mario-kun.
On their way to Wart's Castle, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Toad find the path swarming with Sparks. As usual, Mario uses Yoshi as a shield, making him swallow a Spark and becoming Spark Yoshi. Mario kicks him forward, making him roll against the enemies, defeating them. Their journey comes to a halt when Clawgrip hits Yoshi with a boulder, reverting him back to normal.
The Spark Chaser in Super Mario Advance has the similar function of eradicating enemies in its path, aiding Mario.
