Plenty of websites participate in April Fool's Day (on April 1st), and the Super Mario Wiki is no exception to this. The wiki administration will usually create a goofy, bogus page, include many strange (but true) fun facts associated with the bogus page's theme, and occasionally even redesign the Main Page of the wiki. With a collaborative writing project like a wiki, it's fairly inevitable that the community will join in on the fun.
So, just a few quick rules for those wanting to join the festivities:
- General wiki rules still apply. - Be respectful, and don't be disruptive. Vandalism and harassment don't become okay on April 1st.
- Keep jokes out of mainspace. - Self-explanatory, the main pages should be left unchanged. This includes both editing pre-existing pages, and creating additional pages for the sake of a prank. (While the wiki administration's prank usually comes with a page, all jokes are consigned exclusively to this page.) Don't disrupt ongoing (genuine) proposals, as well.
- As an exception, joke proposals are acceptable. - While technically a part of the mainspace pages, joke proposals are a long-standing user-run tradition, and an exception has been carved out for them. There are a few additional bits of conduct for joke proposals to keep in mind, however. Only one joke proposal per user, and keep it to the main Proposals page. This makes it easier to clean things up when April Fool's Day concludes.
April Fool's events (both the wiki administration's page, and the community proposals[Proposal 1]) are preserved on BJAODN after April 1st concludes.
