“To get Stars, you gotta reach 'em. That means reaching a Star Area. Once there, you can get its Star.”
MC Ballyhoo, Mario Party 8

Star Spaces are spaces that appear in the Mario Party series, where if a Characterss passes by one, the host of the Mario Party game will ask the character who passes by the space if the player wants a Star. The character can say "Yes" or "No" and the character will either get a Star or not.

After the character gets the star, the Star Space will move to a different location in the map. On certain boards, such as Faire Square from Mario Party 6, and DK's Stone Statue from Mario Party DS, the Star Space's location will remain stationary.

Although it's impossible to actually land on Star Space, there is a small chance that a new Star Space will appear directly where a character is standing. Ironically, this character will be unable to reach the Star Space on their next turn, and will instead have to loop around the board to reach it.

When a character passes a star space, they will have to buy it. How much they pay depends on the board. Traditionally, the player will have to pay 20 coins, but on certain boards, the star may cost as little as five coins or as much as 40.
