Ganondorf

Template:SSB Infobox Ganondorf is the main antagonist of The Legend of Zelda series, and usually is an enemy to Link and Princess Zelda. Ganondorf's only connection to the Marioverse is the Super Smash Bros. Series.

Super Smash Bros. Series

Ganondorf's first Marioverse appearance was in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where he was an unlockable fighter. He was unlocked by beating Event Match 29: Triforce Gathering, and then beating Ganondorf in the next match. In both matches, the player uses Link. Ganondorf is a clone of Captain Falcon, and has all of his attacks, with the exception of his A Button attacks. However, Ganondorf's attacks are much slower than Falcon's, but they are much more powerful. Ganondorf is also slower, and heavier than Captain Falcon, but is more durable. Added up, Ganondorf's B Button attacks are easy to use, but his A Button moves act as a trouble maker. In Melee, he was voiced by Takashi Nagasako, who also voices Donkey Kong in most of the Mario games.

Said to be the sole man born to the Gerudo tribe in a hundred years, Ganondorf aspired to conquer the world. He plundered a piece of the sacred Triforce from the Temple of Time when Link pulled the Master Sword from its pedestal. With the Triforce of Power in Ganondorf's possession, Hyrule was plunged into darkness until Link and Zelda defeated the fiend.

Since he's slow and can't jump very high, Ganondorf relies mainly on his immense physical strength to overwhelm his enemies. His great weight also makes him a difficult foe to send offscreen. Ganondorf's Warlock Punch is slow but absurdly powerful, and when he strikes with his Gerudo Dragon, enemies rise skyward enveloped in dark flames.

Ganondorf's slow speed works against him in single combat, but in melees, his crazy power lets him earn his keep with innumerable KOs. Ganondorf can't strike quickly, but each blow he lands adds up. Ganondorf is at his quickest when he uses the Wizard's Foot, and his Dark Dive blasts foes in a burst of dark energy.

Trivia

• In Nintendo Monopoly, Ganondorf takes the role of Pacific Avenue, and costs $300.
• Ganondorf's emblem in the Super Smash Bros. Series is the Triforce.
• Though Ganondorf is depicted holding a sword in his official artwork, he only uses this sword in one of his victory poses, but never actually in battle. A trick with Action Replay allows fight with a sword, but not does nothing in gameplay.
• Ganondorf's hand can be seen in the intro, though he is a secret character, just as Pichu and Jigglypuff, who are also seen in it.
• Ganondorf is the only clone that is not a clone of a character from the same series as him. However, Ganondorf is not a complete clone, as his A moves are different.
• Ganondorf is the only character in Melee who makes their sole playable appearance (to date) there.
