This "evil" version Nintendo is the same entity as the "real" Nintendo, and aside from its infamous reputation, it doesn't hold much value as a standalone article. At best, I think we could give an article to the unnamed CGI man, but everything else feels more suited for the List of advertisements page. Wandering Poplin (talk) 12:44, December 5, 2025 (EST)

I also don't see why this needs its own page, it's just a fictionalised depiction of the company Nintendo. At best this could be on the Nintendo page's "Appearances in the Super Mario universe" section (kinda like how "Shop Manager Iwata" from WarioWare: Smooth Moves is just covered on the Satoru Iwata page) but I think even that is a bit of a stretch for this, since it can't really be said that the ads take place "in the Super Mario universe". I'd say just cover this on List of advertisements (and maybe History of Bowser, Lakitu, and a potential future "Crossovers with Duck Hunt" article) and leave it at that. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 20:17, December 6, 2025 (EST)

I think this page should be turned into a Mr. System I mean "Unbeaten spokesman" article for a reason similar to how the Gourmand man has an article. They may not have official names, but they play a major role in a commercial that has a good majority of its content related towards the Mario franchise. I agree on merging this article into Nintendo's page, though perhaps given the sheer number of fictionalized Nintendo appearances maybe we should have a separate page for fictionalized Nintendo appearances. Considering some extremely iconic works of Mario fiction incorporate the idea of there being a real world in contrast to Mario's world (The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! and The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3), I feel like ruling on "this ad does not take place in the Super Mario universe doesn't track. I think just ruling on "is a work of fiction invoking Super Mario" is better, and this ad is a work of fiction invoking Super Mario. However, I would argue it's not a Super Mario advertisement, but rather a Nintendo advertisement that heavily features Super Mario. Meaning guest appearance, meaning no article for the spokesman. Salmancer (talk) 20:54, December 6, 2025 (EST)
Currently the relevant section on the Nintendo page is almost entirely "the Nintendo logo makes a diegetic appearance in this game", and I think adding in "also there was an ad for the NES with weird sprite characters denying their beatability" would feel very out of place. I think it would make more sense to cover this in the history sections of the involved characters (Bowser already has an "Other appearances" section with some similar stuff, like E3 skits and the Nintendo Switch Online ad). Deciding the articles fate[edit]

Brown Block This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal.

Remove info from the other characters and focus on the Unbeaten spokesman 0-3-8-2-0
I've decided to make this a proposal as we haven't gotten to an agreeable conclusion yet.

This is an article about a group of characters found in an Australian commercial for the NES. Consisting of Bowser, a Lakitu, the Duck Hunt dog, Smirk from Gyromite, and a spokesman (widely known by an unofficial name: Mr. System. But known here as the "unbeaten spokesman", which is what I'll be calling him from now on.) We aren't currently sure if this warrents an article as the commercial the characters come from isn't a Mario conmercial, but a Nintendo commercial. Per MarioWiki:Coverage, we cover stuff like Super Smash Bros. and the entirety of Mario & Sonic and Nathaniel's Fun Factory. This commercial is no different, as two out of the five characters featured here are from Super Mario Bros. And if one of the characters, specifically the main one, doesn't appear in any game and only this commercial, we might as well group it in with the Mario cast.

Keep the article the way it is (YOU CANNOT DELETE US)[edit]

Move information to the Nintendo article (WE ARE NINTENDO)[edit]

  1. Salmancer (talk) Like I said, this is a fictionalized version of Nintendo. A very weird fictionalized version of Nintendo, but nonetheless I think fictionalized versions of Nintendo (that invoke Super Mario characters) are things the Nintendo article should be covering. It'll take some retooling of the Nintendo article, for sure, but since when has Super Mario Wiki backed down from a logistical challenge? I don't think we have to bother with giving the spokesperson a page though, since the the advertisement isn't really a Super Mario advertisement nor are they Super Mario based. Just going something to the effect of "four characters from Nintendo video games and a fifth human character in the same style challenged the audience to complete Nintendo games" is fine.
  2. Hewer (talk) Second choice.
  3. Martendo (talk) Per Salmancer.

Remove info from the other characters and focus on the Unbeaten spokesman (YOU CANNOT BEAT ME)[edit]

  1. WE ARE RYKITU! (talk) Per my comment in the above discussion.
  2. ULTIMATE WANDERING POPLIN SYSTEM (talk) Even with your robot helper, you cannot beat us. Per my initial comments on this page.
  3. Camwoodstock (talk) This is more in-line with how we handle these sorts of advertisement-exclusive characters like Cowboy Jed or Ken Darling, focusing in on the unique character.
  4. DISCOVER NEW BMFAN08S (talk) Per all.
  5. Sargent Deez (talk) Per Camwoodstock. This article is too funny not to keep around in some capacity.
  6. EvieMaybe (talk) while i disagree with this outcome, it would be the most consistent with how we handle other stuff
  7. SCORE ONE YOSHI SUPER FAN (talk) Per all.
  8. Power Flotzo (talk) Per the others.

Delete the article, add info on the characters into history sections (Tie)[edit]

  1. Hewer (talk) Per my previous comments. The relevance this has to Mario is that it's an ad with Bowser and Lakitu in it, so I think it would be best to cover it on the Bowser and Lakitu pages. I also don't understand why we would keep an article on the spokesman but not the Duck Hunt or Gyromite characters.
  2. AlexBot2004 (talk) Per Hewer.

Delete the article, don't add character info to history sections (Prove them wrong)[edit]

WE CHALLENGE ALL COMMENTERS[edit]

As I argued in the above section, my preferred option is to just cover this in the pages for Bowser and Lakitu and leave it at that. My main issue isn't that it's technically non-Mario content, but that "Nintendo (evil group)" isn't really a distinct entity, just a depiction of some characters in a Nintendo ad. I also don't think the spokesman has any more reason to be kept than the thing from Gyromite. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 22:05, December 6, 2025 (EST)

I added another option for the history sections. Sprite of Lakitu from Super Mario Bros.RykituSprite of Lakitu from Super Mario Bros.

While this aside is about a page that is still very much in its drafting phase (we've been working off-and-on on it when we have the time, but stuff came up), but this exact thought process is also part of why we're kind of wishy-washy on giving the Nintendo Week hosts (and a few of the characters in it) pages of their own; most of them don't appear in something anymore Mario-related than Nintendo Week itself. The exceptions being the two primary hosts and Dark Gary (who technically appear in LUNCH BREAK... or rather, their hats do) and, of all things, the unnamed guy in a chicken costume (who appears directly in SayThatAgain). Part of the reason we voted for a re-focus on the Unbeaten spokesperson is that that'd not only be consistent with how we already handle things, but it's also consistent with how we plan to handle that whole situation. OK, so a question before I give my two cents as the initial author of the article: what do we do about the live action Bowser commercial if we devote an article to the spokesman? Does the kid in the chair get his own article, or do we just accept that the voice in that ad is the Spokesman and/or the "YCBU Universe" Bowser? --BubzieBobkat (talk) 04:09, December 7, 2025 (EST)

In my opinion, if a character appears as a major character in a commercial, I would say it deserves its own article, especially if they are given official names. It gets a little iffy if the character is conjectural. I feel as if "Flying chair kid" is a little too specific, and determining what qualifies for a conjecturally named character to get an article could be an entirely different proposal. Sprite of Lakitu from Super Mario Bros.RykituSprite of Lakitu from Super Mario Bros.

I'd rather move the article to MarioWiki:BJAODN over outright deleting it , but OK. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 07:36, December 7, 2025 (EST)

I don't think this proposal should have any bearing on whether it goes to BJAODN. (I personally don't see why it should, but humour's subjective I guess.) Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 07:45, December 7, 2025 (EST)

So if the second or third options pass, would we then not cover this on Bowser and Lakitu's pages? I don't see why we'd deliberately exclude that information. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 07:59, December 7, 2025 (EST)

We would still cover the commercial in history sections. Their purpose is to discuss the history of a character and that they did in every piece of media they appear in. Sprite of Lakitu from Super Mario Bros.RykituSprite of Lakitu from Super Mario Bros.

So then, article creator - I think I'll stay neutral on this topic, as long as the YCBU commercials are covered textually somewhere I am happy - however, I do want to say that I do not believe that YCBU!Nintendo is supposed to be Nintendo the company, I believe that it is supposed to be Nintendo the console, given that they refer to themselves as the "Ultimate TV Game System" - the YCBU ads were not made by Nintendo, they were made by Mattel as they distributing the NES there, so the "There's no such thing as a Nintendo" thing that NOA and NOJ were quite strict about then wouldn't apply as strongly. --BubzieBobkat (talk) 09:06, December 9, 2025 (EST)
