Talk:Mario Power Tennis

From the Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to search

Don't you think this article should include characters Power Shots? Each character has certain power shots, some offensive and some defensive.

For example, Waluigi's shots are Swimming Return, which lets him swim through the air to get to the ball, and Whirluigi, which makes the person who hits the ball back spin.

Isn't it Whirligi? Max2 (talk)

All of the characters and their moves can be found here. (But please don't copy word-for-word what Wikipedia says about it. One, it'd be copyright violation, and two, it's pitifully worded.)

Help![edit]

Could someone fix the page but keep what I removed, removed. just please fix it!

I reverted it all the way, PPL. What you removed does not affect the way the page looks. Phoenix Rider

Courses[edit]

What courses appear in this game.--Aipom_Banana_2.gif Aipom 424.png--

Look it up on Wikipedia, and if you can add them here.Knife (talk) 14:25, 4 March 2007 (EST)

Live[edit]

According to the oficial Tennis site it says where each character lives. Should articles on those places be made? Paperjorgesp.png PJ Paperjorgesp.png

no. they are only half-canonical info. Max2 (talk)

Anything not from games are considered low canon or uncanonical. Do you have a link to the exact page though?Knife (talk) 20:44, 6 March 2007 (EST)

Secret Character Renders?[edit]

I would really like to know where someone got the official renders of the secret characters! Because I've never even seen them anywhere online! Someone please do tell!--PeteyPiranhaLover 19:31, 26 April 2008 (EDT)

Fly Guy[edit]

Looking at the character artworks I see that we have all the characters but Fly Guy. I found on the official Japan site of the Wii Mario Power Tennis that there really is an artwork for Fly Guy but it is still unrevealed. Just wondering if you guys could some how get the Fly Guy artwork when it is revealed. Thanks! (P.S. Fly Guy ROCKS!) User:RedBoo64

FLY GUY IS REVEALED ON THE OFFICIAL JAPAN WII SITE! Can you guys please get his artwork! User:RedBoo64

Can you put a link to the page here? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:38, 22 January 2009 (EST)

(GCN)[edit]

With the article being labelled (GCN), it doesn't make much sense to list the Wii version on the same page. Should NPC titles get their own little article? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 11:17, 23 February 2009 (EST)

Well, we have an article about the Super Mario Advance series...so NPC games can either get their own articles, have the content put on their respective GameCube game articles, or put all the content for the games on the NPC series article. What do you think is best? -- Son of Suns (talk)
We actually already have the article New Play Control!. I'm not sure what would be better though. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:02, 23 February 2009 (EST)

Gallery[edit]

Is it... like... really neccessary to have four artworks of Mario in the gallery? Wouldn't one or two be enought? It seems kinda weird to me (I mean, I know he's Mr. Nintendo but... four? Everyone else just got one).

Trophy Presentation Section[edit]

I have just noticed that Goomblob added a section that deals with listing the trophy presentations for each character. Just a heads-up to let everyone know that I currently hid the section until I see about getting related images to make a table for it. Plus, the "descriptions" for each character need major editing to get it up to standards here. I will restore the section once the job is done. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! event mode.[edit]

If you hold Z and hit start, this mode will be unlocked. shouldn't that be mentioned?Pikmin theories (talk) 17:12, 17 August 2017 (EDT)

That's true. I can't believe this has gone missed until now. MarioComix (talk) 02:22, 18 August 2017 (EDT)

Tennis points[edit]

Please don't remove this edit!

There's an error. In the line "Players earn 15 points for every shot that is successful and can win the game by earning set, game, and match points by earning 60 points on each game.", players don't get 15 points. 15 is 1 point. 30 is 2 points. 40 is three points. I know this because I played Mario Tennis. I will change that to "Players earn 1 point for every shot that is successful and can win the game by earning set, game, and match points by earning 4 points on each game." I don't know if I need approval, but I'm just going to make this edit. Thanks! 99.234.204.8 11:20, November 24, 2023 (EST)

Hello? No one fixed this error. Some explaination. A tennis match has sets. Sets can last 2 units, or 6 units. Those units are called games. A game in tennis is split up into 4 points. 15 is the first one, 30 is the second one, 40 is the third one, and the point that wins the game, the fourth one. Does anyone on the MarioWiki know their tennis points? PaperMarioGolf (talk) 09:26, January 6, 2024 (EST)

Walpeach[edit]

So the person who uploaded the "Walpeach" (the creator or something) designs on instagram has since deleted them. I can't access them anymore. And the people who originally reported those desings were Source Gaming. Is Source Gaming even a reliable source? This is all very strange.

CastleResearch (talk) 13:09, December 2, 2023 (EST)

It was real. Ask Blhte (talk), they interacted with the poster. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:19, December 2, 2023 (EST)

I'll take your word for it. Still it's weird they deleted it so quickly. CastleResearch (talk) 13:34, December 2, 2023 (EST)

Walpeach's name[edit]

Is her English conceptual name actually "Walpeach?" I thought it was "Wapeach." It would at least make more sense, because Wario and Waluigi's names are derived from the Japanese word 'warui,' which literally means 'bad.' Not sure if it was a typo on the editor's part or if this is the actual name.

I think Fumihide-san want to reflect the katakana . ワルピーチ is indeed one of her two names to be determinedMedia:Walpeach Design Instagram.jpg. Pi'illoper.pngBlhte(A****** c*****) 09:55, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Fumihilde indeed consistently spelled it, with Latin characters, as "Walpeach," even in response to people saying "Wapeach." "Wapeach" is more widespread thanks to busybody journalists, YouTubers, and fanartists who can't be bothered to do their homework (despite my best nerdy erm, acshually efforts at correcting them), but that spelling is wrong, plain and simply and needs to be quashed out before I lose whatever loose equivalent to sanity I have left. It comes off as highly disrespectful to the work that went into designing her to ignore something as simple as her name. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:43, January 8, 2024 (EST)
Thanks. I'll go ahead and fix the instance of Wapeach I found on Waluigi's article. --JoeCool (talk) 11:48, January 9, 2024 (EST)

Also, as far as the warui origin goes -- L and R don't have direct equivalents in Japanese, so "warui" or "walui" are technically both semi-accurate translations (which is why Waluigi is named the way he is -- it literally has the word "warui" in it). That would be where the L comes from. 73.171.104.211 11:01, January 8, 2024 (EST)
