Super Smash Bros. Series

Pikachu's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Pikachu appeared as a default character in Super Smash Bros. It was a useful player, as its electric attacks could inflict serious damage. However, its Quick Attack was its prize move, as it could escape almost every fall, if done correctly. However, it is rather light, and can be knocked off the stage easy.

Pikachu returned in Super Smash Bros. Melee, yet again as a default player. It retained all of its old moves, as well as add a new move, Skull Bash. However, its abilities are basically the same as the original. Pichu had a moveset similar to Pikachu.

Pikachu was one of the first characters revealed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It has been shown using Thunder Jolt, Quick Attack and Thunder. Its Final Smash has been revealed as Volt Tackle. Pikachu has been voiced by Ikue Otani in all three games. She also voiced Pikachu in the Pokémon Anime.

Solid Snake Codec Conversation

  • Mei Ling: Ooh! How cuute!
  • Snake: What? The yellow thing?
  • Mei Ling: That's Pikachu. It's a Pokémon. They're popular all over the world, you know. And it may look cute, but be careful, It can store up large amounts of electricity in those adorable little cheeks. It'll try to pepper you with electric shocks.
  • Snake: Couldn't be much worse than Ocelot's old torture device...
  • Mei Ling: Oh, and, Snake?
  • Snake: What?
  • Mei Ling: I was wondering, could you maybe try and catch Pikachu for me? Pleeeeease?
  • Snake: Give me a break! What do I look like, a Pokémon Trainer?
  • Mei Ling: Fine... Sorry I asked.

Role in The Subspace Emissary

Pikachu begins the game trapped within a strange device that harnesses its electrical energy to provide power to the complex. Samus, infiltrating the complex in search of her armorsuit, sees that the device causes Pikachu pain, and breaks it. In thanks, Pikachu helps Samus continue through the lab. Eventually, the pair come across Samus's armorsuit within a tank. However, two clones of Samus, wearing the purple Gravity Suit, approach them, prompting Pikachu and Samus to battle. When they are defeated, an alarm begins to wail, and the R.O.B. Squad approaches. Samus regains her armorsuit and blasts her way through them, along with Pikachu.

As they attempt to escape the complex, however, Ridley strikes without warning, snatching up Samus and attacking her. Pikachu uses Thunder to free her, and the two face off against Ridley.

After escaping from the facility, Pikachu and Samus discover another Subspace Army base. The two infiltrate it, and after fighting their way through, discover the Ancient Minister in a room filled with Subspace Bombs. The allies prepare to battle, but the Ancient Minister does not seem to want to fight them. Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Captain Falcon, and Captain Olimar then break into the room, and all of them, including Pikachu, witness the Ancient Minister defy Ganondorf's commands. As a result, the R.O.B. Squad fires upon him, burning off his robe and revealing that he is an R.O.B., as well. The rest of the R.O.B.s activate all the Subspace Bombs in the room, forcing all of them to escape. As they rush to the exit aboard Captain Falcon's ship, Meta Ridley races after them. The group defeats the space dragon once more, and escapes just before the floating island is engulfed in Subspace.

They then meet up with Mario, Link, Kirby, Pit, Yoshi, Ice Climbers, Marth, Ike, Lucas, and Pokémon Trainer. All of them witness Ganondorf and Bowser's doomship emerge from Subspace.

It's safe to say that Pikachu is the most famous and popular of all Pokémon. It has electric pouches in both cheeks; when in danger, it shoots electricity at its enemies. Although Pikachu can evolve into Raichu by exposure to a Thunderstone, many trainers like Pikachu so much that they don't let it evolve.

(Adventure)
B: Thunder Jolt
Smash B: Skull Bash
While its electrical attacks, such as Thunder and Thunder Jolt, are powerful, Pikachu is at its best speeding around the fray and waiting for its chance to strike. You can control the path of Pikachu's two-directional Quick Attack, allowing you to jump twice. Hold down the B Button to charge up Skull Bash.
24 Pikachu [Smash]
(All-Star)
Up & B: Quick Attack
Down & B: Thunder
The angle of the Control Stick controls the direction of Pikachu's Quick Attack. Pikachu will move blindingly fast, and it will also cause damage to any character it runs into. Move the Control Stick during Quick Attack and Pikachu will move in up to two directions. Be sure to check out the ceilings on the level when you use Thunder.

A Mouse Pokémon. Its lightning-bolt tail and round cheeks are its trademarks. When danger draws near, it uses tiny electric pouches within its cheeks to discharge electricity. When it's really fired up, it unleashes thunderbolts on its rivals. It's said to recharge when it's sleeping. It evolves into Raichu.
16 Volt Tackle Pikachu, transformed into a ball of light that can slam into foes. It can also fly to chase down those who try to jump out of range. Sparks get stronger when you press the attack button. However, its increased inertia makes midair movement tough. If you get carried away flying, the effect will end, and you'll destroy yourself. Be careful it doesn't happen to you.
