Greetings, bootiful 'Shroom readers! Welcome to our October edition of Fun Stuff! Although our decorations might look ghoulish, our sections are just as much as a treat as ever.

Our selection is a little slimmer this month, but don't sweat! We'll be back in full capacity soon, and if you're interested in bolstering our numbers any further, you can give a spooky peek to our sign up page and bring any activities you'd like to see in The 'Shroom! We'd be very happy to have you.

I still have a pumpkin to carve and a candy bowl to prepare, so I'll be finishing my planning and sending you on your way. Happy Halloween, everyone, and enjoy Issue 187's Fun Stuff!

Section of the Month

Congratulations to FunkyK38 (talk) for claiming first place on that Fun Stuff pedestal! Further congratulations go to WildWario (talk) and Mustard Machine (talk) for second and third place respectively. Make sure to vote for your favorites this month! No tricks involved.

Anagrams

Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)

Hi all, welcome to the October edition of anagram. If by some chance you hadn't noticed, there's a lot of Halloween stuff around at the moment, so my tangentially-related theme for this month is various Koopas (we're going with the fact that they are usually enemies). But, if you think that reasoning is particularly bad, please suggest me a better theme for next month, either on my talk page or in a PM to me on the forums. Any funny anagrams you've come across that I could make use of would be great too! And with no further ado, here are some turtle-y awesome anagrams for you to scale.

How it works...
Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!

Word Search

Written by: Mustard Machine (talk)

Hello Fun Stuff readers, and welcome to another cool and fun Word Search for cool and fun people! For this Word Search, I’ve selected Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, that Paper Mario game everyone but Koops likes! It’s a pretty great game, definitely the second best game in the Paper Mario series (after Color Splash, of course!). Once again, less tricks this time, because words can only be found vertically, horizontally, and backwards! As always, stay safe and have fun!

Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?

Written by: FunkyK38 (talk)

Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case!

You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case!

Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down.

Challenge round (optional):

-Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less

-Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help

Larceny is not the answer to stop fighting!

“Trouble in the kingdom, gumshoe. Mario has reported that someone has stolen several sets of weapons from his Kingdom Battle days from him and his friends! Coming off of a big adventure with wacky Rabbids, Mario and crew kept their guns with the thought that they might need them again in the future. Well, the future battles will be here soon enough, but a good chunk of their cache has been nabbed by one of Carmen’s goons! Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi are all reporting missing blasters, and we need you to get out there and track the culprit down- I don’t even want to think about what will happen if Carmen can pull off heists while fully armed- she’s cold enough to take a killing shot! Time to get to work, gumshoe, and find those guns!”

All of them are properly accounted for and we’re in the process of returning them to their rightful owners right now. Mario is sending you a set of power-up items, which we will add to the ever-growing collection at your desk. Good work today, gumshoe! We’ll be in touch with you when we get a new lead on Carmen’s hijinks!”
